We spent a couple of days here, and enjoyed the quiet, relaxing atmosphere of this campsite. It’s quite small, and caters to all types of camping, with sites ranging from full hook up to bare tent pads. The roads aren’t in great condition, so care needs to be taken driving around, especially in large rigs. The Railroad Park has converted a lot of rolling stock into cabins, and is worth the short walk to wander round, or visit the restaurant behind the giant wooden snowplow. Checkout the all-wheel-drive steam locomotive near the gift shop. We camped at Railroad Park RV Resort in a Motorhome.

First, the park is wonderfully shaded and has a very nice campground feel. Our space was spacious and we had plenty of separation from other people. Our reservation and site assignment were on the board outside of the closed office when we arrived (about 4pm). We have a small travel trailer and used the park's restrooms. They were in need of updating/maintenance. A report to the camp hosts about a maintenance issue in the restroom was met rather rudely. Plus a rude comment upon on our departure would cause us to look into another park should we return to the Lake Shasta area. We camped at Railroad Park RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We've stayed in this RV park before. It's a nice place with friendly staff. Most of the sites are pull through. Some can be pretty tight. There's a nearby stream that you can hike down to. Mosquitos are prevalent, so factor that into your plans. We camped at Railroad Park RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Dunsmuir is a nice town nearby. The site has a number of cabooses on the grounds that have been converted into rooms; they can be rented for the night. Also have a restaurant. We didn't eat there but were told it was expensive.

This park is tucked back in the forest about five minutes from Interstate 5. It is very peaceful and quiet. Down a short path is a small very cold stream. We had an easy access pull-through site. The park is clean and staff friendly. Just down the road is the hotel and restaurant. Perfect place for a quick overnight stay or a longer vacation to visit the beautiful sites in the area. We camped at Railroad Park RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful campground as far as I'm concerned. Tons of trees and shade, next to a creek. Nothing special about the actual sites, there was no cable which was advertised. Very quiet park. My main reason for the poor review is the camp hosts. My experience is that most camp hosts are retired and a little grumpy. The wife is a little gruff but pleasant once you got her talking. The husband gave minimal help with placing our RV. Check out is 11 and check in is 3. He was at our site at 10:30 telling us we needed to get going because there was "someone at the gate" for our site. He was definitely rude. As soon as we left our site, he raked the dirt and then directed the next camper in. We had family at another site staying more days so it was disappointing to be rushed. He also gave us dirty looks. Our family has been coming to Dunsmuir for generations so I'd like to give this place another chance. Maybe they'll have different camp hosts next time. We camped at Railroad Park RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Like mazes? Like overgrown trees? Like hookups that are upfront? Then you will like this park. You have to wind your way around big trees to get to your site. We had to disconnect our toad to get out of our pullthru site. No lights thruout park. It's DARK!! Being in the woods, wouldn't go out in the trees after dark.. Very tight turns for a 40 ft mh with a toad. Won't be back to this park. Our site had broken tar so our toad wheels hung over edge. We camped at Railroad Park RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a real campground, not a "resort." Lots of trees, nearby creek where a few back-in sites are located; most sites are irregularly positioned w/ ample space between. Some tenters. Quiet (1/2 mi from freeway). Bathhouse is old, small & rustic but pretty clean. Camp hosts very helpful. We camped at Railroad Park RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

The associated & nearby "resort" comprised of collection of old rail cars fitted out as rentable lodging units are cute & interesting.

Lovely rustic park. All site are surrounded by trees. Near Castle Crags SP (no direct access to the SP). A must for train lovers! The on site restaurant is fun, I'd say the food was average. There is a pool, but it's not available to RV guests (only "hotel" guests). Staff was friendly, but didn't know much about the area (a friend temporally filling in?). We would stay here again. Tips for other Campers:

The "hotel" consists of several train cabooses converted into hotel rooms - very cute (we want to come back and try them out - yes, they have AC!). Town of Dusmuir is nearby, but tight for big rigs. Many rivers nearby to wade and fish in.

We spent two nights there while touring the area. The word "resort" in the title of this campground might be a stretch. I would describe this campground as rustic, but beautiful. Lots of trees so I didn't even attempt satellite. Verizon at 3G; Wi-Fi was very good. I would stay here again. We camped at Railroad Park RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The park is in a secluded, treed setting with easy I-5 access and none of the freeway noise. The sites were nice, though some leveling was required. There was no camp host to be found, but we were pre-paid and arrived late so it was no problem. The bathrooms were deplorable; dirty, substandard, and in disrepair. Frankly, they should just be bulldozed and replaced. Good thing we had a self-contained trailer. It would be terrible for tent campers. We camped at Railroad Park RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We should have followed the other RVs that decided to find another campground. Cable did not work. Dirt roads. And too expensive for a rather primitive campground. We camped at Railroad Park RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Very rustic treed campground which is charming despite a somewhat run-down appearance. Some sites take a bit of leveling and can be a little tricky for a big rig. But there are plenty of big rig, level sites if available. Office staff are very helpful and try to select an appropriate site to accomodate big rig needs. The RV campground of is your typical run of the mill campground. It is a mix of tents, RVs, campers, etc. with dirt sites. However, we stayed for the collection of remodeled cabooses which are rented as motel rooms that we looked at during our free time. The caboose are located about a quarter mile walk from the campground and since my father worked for Great Northern RR back in the 40s and 50s, it brought a lot of memories back to me. There is a restaurant at the RR site but it was too early in the year and was closed. Make sure you are well provisioned because there are no nearby grocery stores. My wife and I would like to return and stay in one of the caboose next time. We camped at Railroad Park RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We were here on Labor Day weekend, so it was a bit crowded, but not too noisy at all. We enjoyed our pull through site w/ hookups, and lots and lots of pine trees and forest brush around. There is a creek/river at this site, and you can hear the sound of the water trickling along. The park was clean and very enjoyable. We have family in this area, so we will definitely be back! We camped at Railroad Park RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
