Overall Rating:

A true treasure in the San Diego area. Wide and well layout spaces, both back-in and pull-thru with a combination of gravel and concrete. Ample laundry facilities, nice pool and attached hot tub. Price reflects the San Diego market and while more pricey than our norm, it represents a good value. They also honor Passport America on weekdays from April to October and will allow you to arrive on the weekend at the higher rate and let you change the rate on weekdays. Very nice. We camped at Oak Creek RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Access to the greater San Diego area is via I-8 and connecting highways. There is also a metro trolley that is about 5 miles from the RV park. You can ride all day for $5 and it serves most places a visitor would want to go.

We stayed in site 97. A deluxe back in site. Park is clean and easy to navigate. Sites are fairly close together, but we have seen worse. Cabel tv requires a small cable box (free). Internet was good. Appears to be many full timers, but not a problem for us. We camped at Oak Creek RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

park roads are paved and wide enough to navigate without issue. Sites are small, all sites are concrete pads, Site was level. Pool is heated. There are a lot of semi-permanent residents living in fifth wheels. All residents are very quite and friendly. Rv park is neat, clean, and well maintained. We camped for a month in a 40 foot MH. Rate we paid is based on monthly cost. We camped at Oak Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

High price for the quality & location. Highest laundry costs at $3/wash - $3/dry. Sites so close had to pay $3/night for an remote parking pad for the tow, $1 for ice from a ice machine typically found in a motel for free. Felt nickel & dimed. I think there are better options. Tips for other Campers:

If you're new to San Diego take the Trolley Tour. About two hours, but you can get off and back on another trolley easily and it gives you a very good sense of what's available in San Diego that you might like to visit in depth. Can't give you another CG recommendation, but suggest you try something closer to the city.

During my family's stay the facilities are nice but management not so much. Not to mention call me a few names when I address concerns within the park. Would highly suggest looking into a park that isn't affiliated with Sunland. The sites they offer are not what they claim. Then have you pay for parking if you can't fit your tow vehicle on site, which is highly probable. It's very sad the corporate vision is only about money not the actual customer. Park has easy access. Just off Interstate 8. Site was just right for us since we were only here 4 nights so we could visit San Diego. Everyone was friendly and site was easy to enter. Sites are close but we were only there during the evenings. All good hook-ups and with Passport it was a great value for California campgrounds. We would stop here again if in the area. We had a site but was told to park our tow in the site behind our site. We camped at Oak Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Staff are professional, helpful, and no nonsense. Sites are close together, but park is very, very, quiet, especially in the back. The grounds are well kept, we felt safe and secure there, most of the campers appear to be residents, but we found them friendly and respectful, provided that they were shown respect. We had "no regrets", having said that, the electricity provider has a 4 tier billing system, NO FAULT OF OAK CREEK RV PARK, so watch your electricity consumption if you are staying 1 month or longer. We would definitely return for another visit. $26.00/night rate is based on a 1 month stay. We camped at Oak Creek RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Supermarkets close by off Interstate 8, but require driving. Interstate 8 is a much easier drive during rush hour than many other freeways in the area. All amenities are 15 minutes away, and downtown San Diego is about 30 minutes. RV Park is in a beautiful area in the foothills.

This park is old and tired. The bathrooms were somewhat clean, but quite old in style and fixtures. The pool was OK, the spa jets were broken and over a week we didn't see anyone out to fix them. The sites are paved but are not level and are very narrow (20-22'). The WiFi service was not free and even after purchasing a separate package, the WiFi hardware was down every morning coming up when the staff rebooted the hardware. The staff was friendly and helpful. For being a Sunland resort, I would have expected more. I cannot recommend this park. We camped at Oak Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Resort Oak Creek Resort is a wonderful community of friendly RVers, staff and management. The manager welcomed us as family, going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The staff, fellow RVers, and even the dogs were all so friendly and the park was so beautiful it was like stepping into a Norman Rockwell painting! We stayed here for 5 months while my husband worked in the area at the San Diego Airport. (Easy on off to the freeway, but not on the freeway.) The park is laid out in a manner to accommodate extended stays (like us) weekenders and clubs. The resort has a variety of spaces, and manager was able to fit our 39 ft. 5th wheel, tow vehicle, SUV and 2 Harleys into a very nice spot. The extended stay spots are priced according to space, so no one feels slighted as you pay a bit more for a larger space, and the smaller RVs don’t have to pay the same as the larger RVs. Very fairly thought out. The resort itself is very clean with a full time maintenance staff. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with native plants, flowers and trees. The view of the mountains is incredible, especially at sunset. The crystal clear pool is tested every morning, as I observed on my early morning walks with my two labs. The laundry room is clean and the machines well taken care of. 6 front loading washers and 6 dryers. The dryers kick butt! The exercise room has exactly what one needs for a routine. A weight machine, free weights, elliptical, treadmill, bike and TV. It is also clean and air conditioned. There is a nice open area with horseshoe pits and plenty of room for other games outside the air conditioned recreation room, complete with a large kitchen, eating and meeting area as well as a pool and foosball table. Perfect for clubs and the potluck activities manager puts on for all the RVers. The mountain town of Alpine is just 7 miles away, to the east. There is a farmers market on Tuesdays starting at 3pm in the CVS parking lot. Lots of good stuff! Veggies, fruits, breads, vinegars, jams etc. Janet’s Montana Café has wonderful family style food and don’t forget to stop into the Casino Inn for food and drink. If you are a member of the VFW you must stop in and say hi at the Alpine VFW. Best view in the area from the deck. The manager will direct you to all these places as she did us. Thank you, tour guide! El Cajone, 7 miles to the west, has a wonderful friendly off leash doggie park on Madison Ave, Wells Park. You must also go to the OB off leash Dog Beach. It is located in Ocean Beach. All in all this resort rates excellent in my book. Management is a gem. The people, Rvers and staff, are some of the friendliest I have met on the road. The dogs are all well behaved and friendly with responsible pet owners, my labs, Stella and Stanley made many new friends and were sad to leave. This resort is far enough from the hustle and bustle off the city yet close enough not to be in an inconvenience. It is quiet and relaxing and I hope to be back soon as I too made many new friends!! We camped at Oak Creek RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is an older park up a little canyon in rolling hills a few miles east of San Diego. The park is quiet, friendly, and safe-feeling. The guests were quiet and friendly. There are lots of social activities going on all the time. Space size varies considerably; the spaces in our area were a bit tight, so look at a campground map when selecting a site, and be aware that a big rig might be a challenge. Although the park has many long-stay self-contained units, it does allow non-self-contained for short stays, which we very much appreciated. The WiFi connection is through Tengointernet, and unlike some places in our experience, it actually works here. The staff were cheerful, friendly, extremely helpful, making it a pleasure to stay. If you set out a propane bottle to be filled, it is taken care of before you know it. The buildings and grounds are very well maintained. A cautionary note: the restrooms are cleaned (very well) between 6:30 and 8:30 every morning…this could conflict with your needs or schedule, so plan accordingly. The landscaping is lovely, the birding is good, the morning and evening light on the palms and surrounding mountains was spectacular. There is a good, simple Italian restaurant about a quarter-mile down the canyon road. We got a bargain rate of four nights for the price of three, paying $132 for four nights with a Good Sam card. This is the kind of park we prefer, away from town yet close to amenities, quiet, pretty, clean, friendly. We look forward to staying there again if we get back to the San Diego area. We camped at Oak Creek RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

While travelling down the coast from Seattle, we saw an overall cross-section of what is available for RV owners. The Oak Creek RV Resort was a superb spot to rest up from our jaunt down the coast. We spent a month at the Resort and, with the help of the host, were able to enjoy many things that we would not have found otherwise. She showed us how to get 50% discounts from Macy's for all of the museums in Balboa Park, a wonderful buffet for free at a local casino, a great meal at the 94th Aero Squadron, and much more. Stop in for a memorable stay in San Diego. We camped at Oak Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Rate is for a week using PA and 3 for 4 night stays in a pull through. Older park but nicely kept with great staff. While I liked the park you should be aware of a few things. There are only 2-3 pull throughs which are back to back back ins that you drive between. Park was built before slides so if you have them, they will almost touch your neighbor. I could not put out my awning as it would hit the one next to us. Roads are narrow and if the park is busy, it could be tough to access your site. 90% of the park are permanents (with RV's not park models) so its noisy at 6am every day when they warm up their diesels. If you have a small rig, I'd say give this park a try. Other than the things I noted, its a nice place. We camped at Oak Creek RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

If you give this campground a 10 you must have an RV smaller than 30ft. There is easy access to the park, but if you follow the sign to the office you go wrong and have to turn around (very tight). There are no pull through sites although they sold us one. They just combine two sites next to each other, where a big rig fits lengthwise but there is no room whatsoever on the sides since you will be parked between two pedestals. Pool and restrooms seem to be ok, WIFI did not work at all (although it is Tengo). To level we had to use two 2" wood blocks on one side (what we hate). Would never come back here - its a Sunland Park, no wonder. We camped at Oak Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The rate shown reflects the use of Passport America and four for three rate. The sites are concrete pad with gravel picnic area. Site 52 as well as other sites have a slight slope, but nothing that cannot be overcome. The grounds, baths and laundry are meticulously kept. Several full time residents who welcome visitors and their sites are also well kept. We were not uncomfortable with leaving our BBQ and carry out satellite out at all times. The swimming pool is kept at 86 degrees and the hot tub was at 104 degrees, which is perfect for us. Their kitchen facilities are available for group meetings and lunches. The park is near 2 Indian casinos and is a short 20 minute drive to San Diego. Interstate 8 is less than 2 miles from the park. We would stay here again if in the neighborhood. We camped at Oak Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.
