Oct 2017 - $64.00
This campground is right next to the main road with lots of traffic. We could hear the traffic from our site. Our site was spacious and it was nice to have hook up, but the cost was rather high. We barely had enough room to extend our awning. We had a fire and watched TV on our outdoor TV but between the wind and traffic noise it wasn't very fun! The site was large and we could easily fit our car along side of us. Since it was October we didn't go over to the water but there was a trail from the campground and it didn't seem too far. - RVingChick

First off, use Beals Point SRA Campground in Google maps and it will bring you right in. Sites are nice, lots of trees and trails. Lots of air tv. Bring your quarters for the shower. We stayed here in 25 foot motorhome. Lots of space between. We would stay here again when visiting in area. - Maltese Mom
Sep 2017 - $33.00
We were looking for a place to stay in the general area to visit family in Orangevale. We're self contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed on a Friday night in early September in our 25 foot MH. This is a nice urban CG right on Folsom Lake and very convenient to Orangevale and Folsom. The CG has 2 loops. One is set up for RVs and has water and electric. The sites appear to be spread out and relatively open. The other Loop is primitive and geared towards tents, although smaller RVs are ok for some sites. We stayed in the latter. We arrived at 5pm on a Friday and got the last site with a pad that fit our RV. The sites in the primitive section were pleasantly arrayed in clusters among trees, had a mix of sun and shade and most were good sized. The sites on the outside were slightly larger and more private. Most need a bit of leveling. There's no wifi. There was good ATT and Verizon coverage. We had a quiet stay. - dsvt

We stay here whenever we visit our kids in Folsom. It is 12 miles away, but it is about the only game in town except for Folsom Lake campground. First, the good: it is a KOA, so the staff is professional, friendly, and very well organized. Service was excellent, as we have come to expect at KOA facilities. The pool was lovely, but crowded on the weekend. It looked clean. And, they recycle! This is very rare in campgrounds, strangely. There was a trash can and a recycle bin right by our campsite. Now, the bad: The park is going for a "rustic" look, and, it is a desert, so everything was crisp, dry, and brown. Roads are narrow and twisty. Also, no one guides you to your site, which is unusual in a KOA. They give you a decent map and show you where to go, but the campsite numbers are stenciled onto the electric boxes in small, faded numbers, so you have to get out of your rig to go see them. Our site was way off level. (#64). One wheel was off the ground. There is very limited car parking. We were just able to squeeze our Jeep in between a large tree and our sewer. Our electric box was broken and my husband cut himself badly on it when the lid fell on his arm. Also, the 50-amp plug in ours was cracked and broken. It worked but it didn't look safe. We will return, but we wish there were more alternatives in the area. - SusanRon
Jun 2017 - $53.00
Dog feces all over the two sites. Our site was so unlevel I did not have enough blocks to level Large barking dogs, sand burrs abound Will not return Picnic table was unusable. - Landseal
Aug 2016 - $59.00
Maneuvering was not good for big rig. Bushes hit side of rig on narrow road. Had to back out of our site because of large oak branches blocking forward right turn. Utilities a mess surrounded by needless railroad ties that were just in the way. The Park became very busy on the week end. Wi fi non existent. The mother lode environment was nice, but it quickly becomes just dusty with burrs. We will not return. - feral cat

Stayed here 3 nights visiting relatives nearby. Wish there were more options for us to stay at in the area. The park is old, and lots of permanent residents. They are not a problem, as most sites are organized and kept clean. The management needs more people to improve service. The bathrooms are cleaned daily, but kids keep tracking muddy feet in the women's bathroom each day, and the men's bathroom seems to have a constant problem with people not putting the shower curtain in the shower, so there was water standing on the floor each day. A little re-modeling of the shower might solve this. Some moldy drywall was there as well due to the same problem. Office was closed for a while in the afternoon, and even though sign on the door said they would return at 2:00, they didn't return until 2:30, and kept new customers waiting 45 minutes (and me needing change for laundry). Would probably try another park if we return to the area. Pool was closed and green when we were there, but maybe off season. - Fitzjohnfan
Feb 2017 - $44.00
We stayed here one night because it was only 4 miles from a truck service center we needed to be at the following morning. We would not stay here again. Train horns felt like they were on top of us. We couldn't get the men's restroom unlocked. The women's restroom had water backed up in the sinks. This is a permanent park, but we didn't have any issues with that. People we encountered in the office and elsewhere were friendly. Our site was a pull-thru at an end. It worked for us for one night. - Neil and JoAnn
Feb 2016 - $42.00
I know this place is suppose to be improving but it's a mess. Too many permanent RV's that haven't moved in years with trash scattered all over. The rules state 2 vehicles per site, the one across from me had 4. Way too many trees and all need trimming. I paid for a pull-through site but I had to back out because of the cars and trees in the way. The place is usable and that's about all I can say for it. - Dennis_K

May 2016 - $30.00
I was desperate for overnight parking as 4 other parks I called from Loomis to Sacramento were booked up. Placer County Fair Grounds made space for me as they were pretty booked as well. Most campsites were occupied by long term folks that were packed in like sardines. The camp host gave me a spot off to myself with electricity only which was a relief after seeing the sardine sites. I stayed by myself while my husband was on a trip and didn't feel comfortable there by myself. Ended up moving to our family's driveway the next day. Depending on what is going on at the fairgrounds could impact your visit. Some sort of races going on when I got there on a Saturday afternoon so it was loud...but was over by 7pm. Appreciated the camp hosts giving me a nice site but I just felt unsettled while there. - JeffDeb
May 2014 - $30.00
First Fairgrounds experience and it is a good one. Made last-minute search for a place near Sacramento over Memorial Weekend. Got a number to call the host. He hooked us up with full 50amp hookups in the shade with lots of room to ourselves. Probably 20 campers over several acres. It was quiet except for several events Sat night. We walked to the car races, which were fun to watch. It quieted down after 11, which was fine. We could have gone to sleep earlier if that was our desire, not too loud. We will definitely stay here next time we're in the area. - Seb
Jan 2012 - $30.00
Other recent reviews generally reflect our opinion/experience. The best I can say is that it was quiet and affordable. The campground host, was a big help getting us into a spot during a heavy rainstorm. We camped in one of the few spots by the "Beer Garden". There are lots of other sites in a nearby open field, but not recommended should there be rain in the forecast. - rncordy

This club is in an industrial part of town. After 5 pm the area closed up and had virtually no noise. Businesses open at 0700 with their accompanying noises. Paved lot with maneuvering room for big rigs. (I'm 43') Easy driving to restaurants and shopping. Normal Elks Lodge amenities. On site black water dump with odd rules about dumping. Ask in advance to see when you can or can't dump. - Bucky Beaver

Nov 2017 - $1.00
As Thousand Trails courtesy card holders, we were attempting to stay at as many of their campgrounds along the west coast as we could in the fall. This was the last of the campgrounds that we stayed in that was new to us - we skipped some others because the weather was getting chillier and we wanted to get further south. It was rainy when we arrived, and the campground does not show itself well in the rain. There was really no parking area to unhook, so we were directed to the parking area for some of the Getaway cabins. The roads are in rough shape and quite hilly and curvy. We elected to take a water/electric site in section A just so we did not have to navigate the trip down the hill. There was construction going on at the bridge right near the turn in to the campground, so any signs identifying the campground as Thousand Trails were missing (so we were not initially sure we had arrived at the correct place). Getting out onto the highway heading south from the dump station area was also a challenge due to the road construction - hopefully that will be a temporary issue. On a positive note: we had ordered some items to have sent to this campground with the anticipation that we would arrive in October. Due to a loss of a wheel (!) in Oregon, our arrival was delayed by a few weeks. We kept them informed of our progress and they kept our boxes and we were able to get them when we finally arrived. The staff members with whom we dealt were all great! - pattic777
Jan 2017 - $5.00
As 1000Trails members, we just pay the upgrade fee to park along the river. Let's face it, this is a run down park and the potholed and crumbling roads have gotten worse over the 4 years we've visited.
So why stay? It's the river. The whitewater rushing buy makes a wonderful background noise and the view up the grassy slopes is beautiful, especially at sunset.
Most of the staff is friendly, as are the fulltimers.
Some of the turns are a bit tight, especially the right turn you need to make to go to the river front sites. But there are plenty of 40' motorhomes like ours and big 5th wheels that make it work. - TahoeWino
Aug 2016 - $1.00
The staff is very friendly, the activities for the kids are great, the pool is very well kept.
The river is close to the campsites. The bathrooms are very well kept on weekdays, but are trashed on weekends.
There was a (female) staff member that was hateful and very rude to multiple campers. Other than her, we had a great stay and will be going back. - Just Passing through 2015

Dust and dirt. The restrooms were not cleaned very often and were dirty. The park is right on the river and if you are there to tube, should be good. If not, don't stay there except maybe one night to visit Marshall gold discovery park and visitor center. The road into the park is very twisty and not worth doing unless you want to stay and tube the river. Constant stream of tubers going down the river and then back up through the campground to start over again. IF YOU ARE NOT THERE TO TUBE-DON'T GO. - Phoenixaway
Dec 2014 - $40.00
I stayed here with a group, so rate is reflective of this. Overall, this is a nice park. We were there when a school group was there and it was not a problem except not being able to use a hall during one day (we were told it was ours Thurs.-Sun). At my site (E), the power could only be accessed by literally lying on my stomach...and then having to use levelers so that the plug stayed in! The campground was very focused on building new cabins...would like to have seen more effort in removing the mud! Front desk were very nice. - nicholsm

Don't go here. It is a FULL-TIME mobile home community. Even though their site says they have 31 RV sites, in fact they don't. We spoke with the guy a month or more before our reservation date and confirmed an RV site for us. The day before we couldn't get him to answer our voicemail, and no response on the day of either. When we showed up....no guy....no spots....nothing. It looked like they only had a handful of RV sites at all, and all of them appeared to have full-time residents in them. We had to find an alternate at the last minute. Beware. - Hands For Him
Sep 2016 - $25.00
We stayed here for 2 weeks on suggestion of some camping neighbors we met in Nebraska. It was perfect except they do not have wifi. Very nice place they have a lot of people that live there and some probably come seasonally, it is for over 55 folks. We were visiting our family that lives nearby. The grandkids and I really enjoyed the pool, it was never crowded and the manager was very nice. We had full hookups plus trash service. Could use a few more washers and dryers but can't really complain because the price was reasonable. Residents were friendly. I would stay here again! - Peggy Mead
Jul 2016 - $18.00
As other reviewers commented, there are a few short term rv spaces in this mobile home park. The park is older and residents are friendly. There is no wifi and we were not able to access local tv. We were there for three nights in July while it was 104 degrees. We looked forward to using the swimming pool, which was open until 9:00 p.m. We walked over to the pool around 7:45 p.m and found that the manager made a decision to close the pool two hours earlier. Residents told us this was what he did on weekends so he did not have to come over later to lock the gates. We went to the manager's residence near the pool and asked if he might open the pool as per the sign stating it was open until 9:00. He refused, saying it was his decision to close early. even though it was 104 degrees out. We paid for services and the use of the pool, which was denied by the manager. We will never stay at this park again. - nn5

May 2017 - $65.00
We stopped at American River Resort for just 3 days. Access to park was fairly easy, navigating within the park is a bit tight. Our road was extremely steep, so I had to take time to back in, but it was pretty level after that. Hookups were IMO in the wrong place, closer to the front of the motorhome than the rear, and the sewer pipe was higher than ground level. 30amp seemed okay as we occasionally used the a/c (but we have a tiny motorhome). Office management was okay but beyond basic paperwork, they weren't much help. Showers/bathrooms were clean and fairly nice. WiFi was worthless as we could not get a signal. Verizon showed 2 bars but it was obvious that the cell tower is oversubscribed, so, not a lot of Internet connection capability here. There were a LOT of tent campers, a lot of whitewater excursion activities, which was to be expected. We would likely look for an alternative place if we were to come to the Sacramento area again. - RobtL
Aug 2015 - $65.00
This "resort" is lost somewhere in the '60's. It may have been wonderful when it was first opened however it is severely run down. There are very few full hookup sites and there are none with 50 amp service. Given the extreme temperature changes in this area, it made for an uncomfortable stay. But perhaps the two most disturbing things were the $10.00 extra per person AFTER two campers and the deplorable condition of the shower/restrooms. Almost everywhere we camp today does not charge for additional people until AFTER four campers. We were shocked that we had to pay 60.00 dollars extra (three days) for our eight and ten year grandsons!! On the other hand, this is a great place for tent campers by the American River. But, keep in mind, this is NOT a camper friendly management. It's as though it's a hobby for them and frankly, the only person I saw really working was the guy emptying the trash cans. Sorry, we camped here once before (about two years) because of the catch & release pond and thought we'd give it another try. Jury is in, won't be back. - J. Kohl
Sep 2014 - $35.00
This place was awesome! We were nervous because of the reviews we read but they were so wrong. If you were being out of line then, yes, don't go there, but it was nice, safe, and clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. The campsites are a little challenging so when the young lady at the counter ask you if you want to look first, do it. My husband has awesome skills with our trailer but if you don't this could get a little hairy. We would go there again and make this our new summer spot! We also went on the holiday weekend and had no problems with electricity or shortages. - juanitae

Sites are very basic, with water and electric only. There is a dump station for an additional $8 per use. However, the bathrooms and shower facilities were clean and spacious, so we didn't use our waste tanks much. This is certainly a better bargain than the other place which is about 10 miles from Placerville. A grocery store, gas station and brewery/restaurant were all within walking distance. - Team Janne
May 2014 - $30.00
Thirty dollars a night, no sewer hookup, no dump station, no WiFi. When I asked in the fairgrounds office if I could put a letter with their outgoing mail, I was told I could not, but I could take it down the street to the grocery that had a "blue box". Certainly my spot was nice enough. They put me by the wine gazebo next to the museum. It was clean and it was level, but for thirty dollars a night, I would expect more. - nanzhere
Oct 2012 - $30.00
Note: phone number above good for Mon-Fri 9-4. Per earlier review, it is dispersed camping in the county fairgrounds. There are many nice spots where you can be placed. Lots of grass and open fields. We had a sweet spot near the maintenance building --sounds crummy but it was great. They had an event so we couldn't stay in this other spot nestled in a grape arbor. Maintenance guy met us at gate and was extremely helpful and accommodating. Water and electric hook ups, but no dump. Have flush toilets on site. They are trying to get a dump station in, but they are "fighting city hall". We had the whole, entire fairgrounds to ourselves. Sweet! He even gave us the key to the showers, so we had showers only we could use. Gets an 8 because the road noise is VERY noticeable. Pretty easy place to stay and easy to get to Tahoe for the day. We would return. - theresal58
