Power is too low for RV - 105 volts. Not well managed. Garbage dumpster overflowing all the time. We camped at Redwood Coast Cabins & RV Resort (formerly Eureka Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This campground was much better 4 1/2 years ago as the KOA. It just seems to be a place for working people to stay. I know we were surrounded by them in our electric and water spot. I think I even saw one of them urinating behind our trailer! We called to reserve a spot about a week ahead at their other location but were made to be felt extremely thankful that they found us a spot to stay. I am very unthankful now! The restrooms/showers are old and in disrepair and not very clean. Either building is this way. They used to have a time for quiet hours but that was lined out on their park map. Instead, there is only an evening time for quiet hours to start. Why? Because all the workers get up before 6 am to go to work! They are working on some superficial parts of the facility but they NEED to work on their electrical! My electrical management system (includes a surge protector) shut off power to our trailer multiple times a minute during the evening hours. I had to disable it. The voltage was dropping BELOW 104 volts! I asked the clerk about it the next day and got a blank stare about the 104 volts and was told that I could not use a surge protector in the campground due to the aluminum wiring. What? She also said they are working to replace it (that is where they got to 2 points). Every night of the 5 nights we were there I hated returning. It was not a good stay. Also, the pool was closed and it was still August! Why advertise something you don't provide. This group has also purchased another campground by Crescent City. It appears they are spread way too thin and are worried more about profit that camper comfort and value. Stay away from this campground and their others! We camped at Redwood Coast Cabins & RV Resort (formerly Eureka Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Restrooms are clean, but laundry room was not. The pool out-of-service and it was a weekend! We booked primarily because it had a pool. Sites supposedly have grass, but the 'grass' is dry and yellow. Not a very attractive place. We camped at Redwood Coast Cabins & RV Resort (formerly Eureka Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is an old KOA park. There are a number of full time working families living here. Everything worked well except cable. They told us cable does not work at all sites. They didn't know which sites did have cable. Our site didn't. I don't like paying for something I can't get. Park is north of town on a busy highway. Be careful. Tips for other Campers:

Only a couple of miles from a major northern California city. Plenty of restaurants and shopping. Not far from the coast and beaches.

We given electric/water site and when we to dump the tanks we were told the city had closed the dump station, the manager gave us option to dump our 35' camper into a back in site, after trying for twenty minutes we left with full tanks. They advertised WIFI in the campground but unless you were sitting right by the office you couldn't send or receive.

However, the staff were friendly and helpful; the place was clean. We camped at Redwood Coast Cabins & RV Resort (formerly Eureka Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very family friendly park with a playground, mini-golf, tether ball and soon there will be a basketball goal. It is a little expensive for just an overnight spot, but for a longer stay with children it is perfect. I have one quibble with the bathrooms. The lights are on a motion sensor so pick the shower near the window if no one else is moving around in the room. I had the lights turn off while I was in the shower. This was KOA recently taken over and renamed Redwood Coast. It Was very run down, but the new owner is bringing it along. New tile bathrooms, showers clean, but small. Sites are level grass and gravel. Internet poor and cable poor. Mgt said they they were poor and will be improved as they can. Had a great DVD lending library!

So, a good stay. Has all the playground and stuff that you expect from KOA. We camped at Redwood Coast Cabins & RV Resort (formerly Eureka Campground) in a Motorhome.

This is the old KOA. New owners are working hard to fix it up. The cable didn't work but other than that everything was good. Wide grassy sites, easy to maneuver around. Nice dog area, mini golf, basketball, etc. Staff were very friendly.

A little pricey but I would stay again. We camped at Redwood Coast Cabins & RV Resort (formerly Eureka Campground) in a Motorhome.

No trees or divisions between sites that are gravel and mostly level. The amenities are good for families, and they are pet friendly. East of the 101, it was tough to find, because the signage is tiny, and the turn tells you "KOA road" but puts you in an area of industrial shops--the entrance is behind these places. My GPS kept telling me I had "arrived" but there was only a tiny KOA sign. Found it though. If you're tired from a long day, you might make note of this.

The campground is for sale (July 2015), and I don't think it is a joyful thing for the employees. They were pleasantly professional, yet I felt the "leaving" mentality in dealing with the people.

Great for an overnight or a base camp for visiting the area--in summer call ahead for a reservation. We camped at Redwood Coast Cabins & RV Resort (formerly Eureka Campground) in a Truck Camper.

Poorly maintained park is perhaps a reflection of owners desire to sell. Electrical service is inadequate: low voltage at both 30 & 50 amps. WiFi is slow to non-existent. Sites are not level. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Hopefully the next owners will invest in upgrades needed in this park. We camped at Redwood Coast Cabins & RV Resort (formerly Eureka Campground) in a Motorhome.

This place was great!!! I'm not sure what the other reviewers have against this place, but for us, it worked out awesome!! The people were friendly, there was lots to do for the kids, the bathrooms and showers were spotless, and we liked it so much that we stayed here twice in a week while traveling to another place. This is one of the better KOA's that we have stayed at and I will definitely stay here again if I'm in the northern California area again. I guess it's a good place to see Eureka. It's typical of KOAs in most places with dirt roads and sites. This one is a bit on the old and worn side and the grass needed mowing when we were here. Cable TV is iffy and does not have many channels and the wi-fi is really bad. People are nice, which is always a good thing. Will try someplace else next time.
