Overall Rating:

This place is a former church property. Looks like it was quite an operation in its heyday- big auditorium with stage, large dining hall, many rental cabins (which look like they are seldom used) etc. But now, its run down and rather seedy indeed. I was told that the Hells Angels perodically rents the entire park for big rowdy goings-on....Nuf' said! The sites are poorly marked and often very off-level. Some face each other-no "private side". Lots of nice shade trees. There are many full-timers...rough looking characters...inconsiderate with loud trucks, bikes, stereos junk piled all around and barking dogs. All very sad, to us. The place is in a great location and has the potential to be great. We'd not stay there again because of these factors. Our sewer connection was plugged up and he was right there to fix it. We camped at Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park with many mature trees. The staff were very friendly and the price was right. It was less than half occupied when we visited in early June, so we had lots of space. A number of things needed repair (e.g., two washing machines, one dryer, one shower, a lock on one restroom stall) but there were lots of alternates available, so we were not affected. Presumably, these things will be repaired before the peak season. We did not have cable at our site and there was no air TV reception, but it was nice to just relax and listen to the sounds of nature. We enjoyed our stay at this park and would definitely return. We camped at Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We visited the Chandelier Drive-thru Tree in Leggett (approx.. 15 minute drive - $10 per car) but there are many other Redwood-related sites nearby. Most are listed in a brochure entitled "Avenue of the Giants", available at the park office.

This was a one night stop on our way north. Served the purpose admirably. Level pull through site. Full services. Very quiet since it was winter. The downside was essentially no internet. Our AT&T cell phones had no bars, and the wifi was useless. The campground does not supply internet. The connection is supplied by a 3rd party. It was easy enough to connect to and pay for, but then it was worse than some of the old dialup modem connections from 20 years ago. Oh well, disconnecting is good sometimes. We camped at Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

My husband and I arrived in this park in the evening after hours after an exhausting journey south on the 101. We pulled into an empty pull through site just for an overnight stay. The park was tidy and there was a group of many families in the park for an event. We were pleasantly surprised in the morning how beautiful everything is in the area and the people at the front desk were very nice. Thank you for your kind service and we look forward to coming back next year! We camped at Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

I liked this park. We stayed here years ago and it has changed ownership and looked nice. We had 30 amp service, water, sewer and a pullthrough, so I was happy. Our site was nice and long and even though there were sites on either side of us, the owner alternated rv's so you weren't close to each other. The sites were wide and had a table, grill and firepit. The park had a nice looking park for kids that was freshly mowed. The laundry was a llittle expensive, $2 for washers and $1.75 for the dryer There are 4 washers and only 1 dryer. No sink in the laundry building and not the cleanest. There is a small store in the park and you can also get propane there. There is a gas station next door with minor groceries and this park is very close to Richardson Grove State Park. The owners were very friendly and advised us where to go for meat on our way out of town. We were in site 68, but 66 or 67 would have been better because they had shade. We camped at Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We took a motorcycle ride to Shelter Cove, and it was the worst, most dangerous road we have driven on. I wouldn't have felt safe even in a car. We also stopped at RedWay Liquor Store for a burger $4.50 and fries $1.25. Very good, and friendly people, just no place to sit. Ride the Avenue of the Giants...beautiful! If you want to drive through a redwood, do the Chandelier tree south of Garberville. The Shrine Tree at Myers Flat is damaged and the tree in Klamath has fallen over.

This is my second review of this RV park. I am upgrading my rating because our most recent stay was much better than our last stay a year back. Cleanliness has been greatly improved, dumpsters have been added, and most important the staff was wonderful. The RV next to us had major mechanical problems and the staff couldn't do enough to help them.

As mentioned in my last review access off of Hwy 101 is well marked and easy. There is tons of room to get into the park and maneuver, even for the largest RV. To the left of the store/office are a dozen or so level and wide pull throughs, easy in and out.

Keep in mind that this RV park is not very fancy, there is no pool or other upscale amenities, and some full timers are scattered about. However it is 1/10th of a mile from the giant Redwoods, very reasonably priced with PA, and lots of room for your rig. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

The stay was basically a nightmare. The address says Garberville, but is about 8 miles south of the town. WIFI did NOT work. Was told "someone" had used all the bandwith and they could not reactivate. Was told it would be up and working the day after we arrived, but that never happened. Verizon Hotspot did not work either. Was told AT&T doesn't work at all there. We could at least make and receive calls. Was able to get the Hotspot about 5 miles south at the Piercy turnoff.

Park is next to a gas station/truck stop so a lot of noise from there and also the Hwy 101.

Grounds needed a lot of cleanup and men's bathroom close to RV parking had a sign that said the sink was broke and to use the main bathroom. A lot of older permanent rigs were parked around the grounds.

We will not return. We camped at Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Suggest doing any shopping before reaching the area. Garberville had a lot of transients and was extremely expensive, ie $3.89 for 1/2 gallon of milk.

Not a lot to do in the area. The Grandfather Tree across the highway was interesting.

Level sites with good utilities (30 amp), adequate camper's store, and friendly personnel. Store and office close in early evening. No personnel or service on premises after closing.

Convenient location on Hwy 1 just south of Garberville. There is a 24 convenience store next door and worthwhile tourist sites across the street in easy walking distance.

Wifi password did not work and there were no personnel or provisions to contact someone after hours. We camped at Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Passport America park. We stayed here 4 nights while visiting the Redwoods. WIFI rarely worked, even at the office. Several long term "campers", but the park was quiet. Some road noise from Highway 101, especially trucks braking as they came down the hill. Staff was very friendly. Early spring so gearing up for their busy season. Laundry facilities were poor--leaking washer and squeaky dryer. Restrooms could have been cleaner, especially the floors. Sites were spacious and the setting was pretty, and convenient for our needs. Overall we enjoyed our stay here. We camped at Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Great location for seeing the southern Redwoods. Nice convenient store within walking distance. Nice shop across the road with coffee, smoothies, ice cream, etc, as well as gifts. The Richardson Grove State Park nearby is beautiful, but this park was a better camping choice for RV's.

This place keeps getting dis'd. It is what it is. It is an older park in a narrow valley filled with lots of tall trees, it's an isolated entrepreneurial island in a sea of tall trees, few roads, many miles from support services. It is also a P.A. and for FHU/30 amp the price is one of the best deals in any part of California. The showers and toilets were clean, with good water pressure, and plenty of hot water. Note they are old and look it but are clean. We stayed in the drive through sites and had lots of sun in the front most of the day. There is Hyw noise but it's not over whelming and pretty quiet at night. They have a slow wifi that's free. Verizion MiFi works but works slowly. Solar exposure has the potential to be pretty good where we were. It also has a large community hall that is available. It's the best deal in the area with the P.A. price, everything works and is clean. We'd stay here again. We camped at Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

The nice thing about this RV Park is its clearly marked and very easy to get into from hwy 101, the pull throughs are nice and wide, and they take Passport America. Not much else on the positive side other than the trees are nice and there is a great Indian craft store across Hwy 101. Rest rooms needed maintenance, cob webs everywhere. The dumpsters were overfilled, although it was a Sunday and maybe the end day of a weekly pickup. Overall the park was shabby with some ancient RV's scattered about. That said there was a friendly air about the place. I think it is a religious camp as there were 2 church buildings on site. For a quick one night stay it was OK, sure don't want to spend too much time here though. We camped at Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Had a flat, level, gravel, pull through site. Picnic table & fire pit. Site about 70 ft. long. Narrow site. Electric, water and sewer. Secure intranet was slow but free. No AT&T service in park. Verizon was spotty. Staff friendly. Close to US 101; traffic noise noticeable. Back in sites up hill are in trees and farther from the road. Small playground for children. Propane & dump station on site. Would stay again if traveling through area or to use as a base camp to see area. We camped at Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
