We chose this park due to the "9" ratings. After we arrived, I noted that the ratings are 5 years old. I will give the pros and cons here. PLEASE NOTE: the park has just been sold and the new owners have many plans to upgrade this park. New owner gentleman was so super helpful and friendly, a can do guy. They are going to add more sites, remodel the laundry room, partition off the full time area, add bocce ball and other rec opportunities. Also, they will build some cabins, which will be a wonderful addition.

PROS: The setting is gorgeous. We camped under the pines with 30 amp hook up, water and sewer. You could be fooled into thinking you are in a national park. You are surrounded by the forest. There is a nice walk through the forest behind the camp. It was quiet, set up off the main highway. Fire pits and picnic tables. We used site 26 which was very spacious with lots of privacy. The owner guided us to our site and helped us settle in.

You are so close to the Lakes Basin, where we did some great hiking. Also good food in Graeagle and Blairsden. The wi fi worked mostly well and there was a good cable channel lineup which also worked well.

CONS: The laundry room was filthy and only one washer worked, no dryers worked. We used a clothesline at our campsite to dry clothes. The rec room was locked so we did not see what was in there. The full timers: excuse me for saying this, but the area looks trashy. Someone living in a school bus there, for example. The new owners plan to section off this area with a fence and give them their own access road. We will check this park out again in a year or so. I do believe that the new ownership is earnest in their intent to fix it up and make it a lovely stay. So, check it out!

By the way, there is a lovely dry camping campground here as well. We camped at Sierra Springs Trailer Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Get pizza at Gumpa's in Blairsden and Graeagle MillHouse for lunch. Go to the forest service station in Mohawk to get detailed hiking maps for the Lakes Basin. Also check out the great gold mining museum at the Plumas Eureka State Park.

This little, no frills gem is one of our favorite places to spend a few days. The park itself is older, owned by the same couple for many years. Some of the pluses are direct access to national forest land for hiking and dog walking, lots of trees, and very clean restrooms. It is a mostly quiet location, with the exception of some noise from Highway 70. Nearby the small town of Blairsden has delicious breakfasts and lunches available from the café, bakery, or deli; drive a bit more to play golf or hike in the Lakes District hiking area with its numerous trails and lakes. The downsides are 3 channel cable TV, the lack of 50 amp hookups, no WiFi, and no Sprint cell phone reception. We camped at Sierra Springs Trailer Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Our site was nice, level gravel. Water pressure good, electrical voltage good and steady. Sewer hookup is located well for gravitational flow but you will need a hose that is longer than 10 feet. Owners were friendly and very proud of the cable and satellite TV hook ups but we could not get ours to work. We watched CBS and ABC from our bat wing antenna. Verizon cell and Wi-Fi signal (3G only) was good. A nice, quiet location in tall pines with plenty of shade. Not a destination resort, but a nice clean, well-run spot to park and venture out in the area to see the sights. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Sierra Springs Trailer Resort in a Motorhome.

Older park set in some really nice-sized pines. Very little noise from Highway 70 at night, and no train noise. The site we were in was a little snug for our over sized rig, but as much my fault as the sites layout (I got in a little sideways since it was nearly dark when I parked). We saw sites both larger and smaller, some level, some not as much. We didn't use the restroom facilities, but the owners were obviously very serious about their maintenance. Nice folks, nice park, and a good setting. We camped at Sierra Springs Trailer Resort in a Motorhome.

This is really a nice park. Owner walked us to our site, very nice and friendly. Sites are clean and spacious. We had a big roomy pull-through site. There are a lot of trees and shade. The park is in the Plumas Forest. Nice rec room with games, pool table, ping-pong table. There is a teether ball, volley ball court, and shoe horse pits. Every site has a picnic bench. Behind the park are hiking trails. We will be returning to this nice park on July 4th weekend. We camped at Sierra Springs Trailer Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park in the tall pines. Beautiful area, near Portola and Graeagle. Owners have been here since 1978 and really care for the place. Sites are long and roomy. We had a pull-through with no neighbors on either side. This park has the cleanest restrooms and showers we have ever seen, hands down. There isn't a playground or pool for the kids but they have a wonderful rec room with TV, ping pong, pool table, games, books, and more. VERY quiet at night. Some permanents and a few long-terms, but certainly no problems. Just friendly people enjoying life. Great area for golfing or fishing. There is horseback riding in Graeagle and a train museum in Portola. We camped at Sierra Springs Trailer Resort in a Travel Trailer.
