Close to Yosemite is it's star ... advertised but cable, but it's turned off after the summer cloud exits ... grass, weed and debris needs cleaned up. No recycling! We camped at Yosemite Pines RV Resort & Family Lodging in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Yosemite Pines after leaving S Lake Tahoe on our way to Yosemite National Park. The area was in a drought for 5 years until this April, so most everything around there is pretty parched...so I'm guessing the condition of this RV Park (and others) has suffered. Certainly not lush like the photos on their brochure and website. We were lucky to get a spot on short notice for our 25' motorhome with toad and were grateful we did not have to unhook. We were escorted to our spot. Our site was mostly red dirt, with dried up grass around the edges. Very un-level...like 7". The difficult thing to deal with was all the stickers (not the sharp kind) that attached themselves to our dogs feet and legs...tons of them. No shade in our spot. There were plenty of campers of all types and sizes. Lots of families. There is a petting zoo with a couple of donkeys, a llama, rabbit and goats. Fun for the kids. Speaking of kids...we don't have them, but this seems to be a great campground for kids...pool, petting zoo, playground area, with bocce ball, Horseshoes, tetherball, etc. The camp store is well appointed and there is even a little Deli, which makes sandwiches, etc to take with or eat in. There is a nice, large, raised dog wash. If you tent camp, prefer Yurts, want a cabin, have a group, this spot is worth considering. It's plenty big and there seemed to be a number of groups. The brochure said there is propane and a dump station. We didn't use the Tengo WiFi and we didn't have cable at our spot...actually, don't think it was working since they scratched it out on our paperwork. I would say, for proximity to Yosemite and offerings, this one is worth a shot. Not the best, but felt safe and staff plenty friendly...it is just dusty and dry (drought) and older. We were there on July 5 and managed to get a spot by calling that same day. It was crowded, so might be good idea to reserve during peak season. We camped at Yosemite Pines RV Resort & Family Lodging in a Motorhome.

Relatively close to Yosemite and the historic gold country. We stayed her for a rally, and the owners had promised to put us all in one loop. Nope, didn't do that but at least we were all in the same upper campground (they have a lower one also). Laundry was good with relatively inexpensive washers and dryers. The dryer actually got my clothes dry! Many sites are shady and we weren't able to get satellite the entire time. That wouldn't have been so bad if the promised cable was working, but it hadn't been taken out by a lightning storm. They use a so-so Tengo internet which randomly would drop out then come back. Again this wouldn't have been so bad but there was no Verizon data service in the campground. This might sound like a poor review, but this is actually the best you can get in the area. They know they have a good thing going with almost full campground most of the time since it is a full hookup not far from Yosemite. The roads were fine for our truck/trailer combo, but some Class As had to do careful maneuvering. We camped at Yosemite Pines RV Resort & Family Lodging in a Travel Trailer.

First, the roads to get into this campground are steep and windy! Second, the office staff acted as though you were a bother to them. We wanted to change sites and did (had to pay extra). Third, the campground is neglected (not mowed, trash in sites, some sites not level, bathrooms dirty). We would not come back here! We camped at Yosemite Pines RV Resort & Family Lodging in a Fifth Wheel.

They have free Tengo WiFi, it worked good enough for us. Reception on Antenna only a few, no cable. The sites are very close to each other but when we where here it was quiet and they left the site next to us open. So no complains for us. They have a swimming pool but it was already to cold so far in october. No cellphone reception. Very quiet and

in the forest, gives you a good feeling. One hour drive to Yosemite Nat'park, no problem and we drive a big rig so better to leave it over here. But we don't understand why they still have the firepits on every site, get RID OF THOSE....... they are to close to the neighbours and it is so dry, not only this year but always. Just get them away. On the sites you don't want youre neighbour starting a fire only a couple of feeds away. It was not allowed when we where here but it is not to be allowed on these parks anyway. Sites are sandy and some need a little bit levelling. We camped at Yosemite Pines RV Resort & Family Lodging in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is old and most items are dated. All the roads are dirt and red clay. The sites are also dirt and red clay, any gravel that was there is gone. It rained during our stay for 3 days and the place was a total mess. Our site was so unlevel we had to put blocks under the back tires and jack pads. The water faucet was bent in half and the electric pole had obviously been hit by another camper and not repaired. We have Verizon and could only access phone and internet with our hotspot by the office. The park internet was sporadic at best. The setting is lovely and you are about 20 miles from the west entrance to Yosemite National Park and then another 25 miles to Yosemite Valley. There is a new manager but not sure what that means if the upkeep is not done. We camped at Yosemite Pines RV Resort & Family Lodging in a Motorhome.

The campground is perfect for a camping with an RV as well as a tent which we had both. We were a group of 9 - 5 adults and 4 kids 10 and under. We also had a little dog. The site was easy to find and off the main highway. We were also very close to the Groveland town which was very convenient for us when we needed to make a quick trip to their market. The pool was nice and refreshing. The facilities were great and for the most part clean. We loved that there was a nature hike trail that ran around the perimeter of the site. Also there were also exercise stations at several parts within the park. The general store was well stocked with all the essentials. We did laundry there which was a huge plus with our large party. The YARTS shuttle stops right at the park which made it very convenient for us to visit YNP. We took our rv to the park the next day which was also great. Also we had a view of our neighbors on the street we were on but neighbors were always friendly. Our kids played with the other kids which gave them lots to do. We highly recommend staying at Yosemite Pines . We camped at Yosemite Pines RV Resort & Family Lodging in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Use the YARTS shuttle at least once for your trip to the park. Bring bikes. The town is about 2 miles from the park. It will be an uphill trek but for adults having the bikes will be better than taking an rv to town. Also bring a wasp/fly catcher/repellant. In August there were ton of wasps all over Yosemite including the park.

Love this park and its feel of being in the forest. The sites are nice and the park didn't even feel overcrowded during July 4th weekend. There is a nice pool and store and it is well maintained and security roams around all the time. There was a camper with a fire too big by our site and was told to tone it down . All pets were on leashes and it seemed that owners picked up after them . The place is pretty quiet and has families and tourists and less of that party feel that some parks have. We will be back. We camped at Yosemite Pines RV Resort & Family Lodging in a Travel Trailer.

I am really disappointed with this park. The road to get it the campground is extremely steep with hairpin turns. But honestly all roads to get to Yosemite will require some challenging roads. The elderly lady at check in was very rude and it appeared that we were a bother for her to help check us in. We were not offered an escort to our site. The campground is extremely dusty. The campground has a small petting zoo, but it also smells terrible. The sites are very close together, and we could hear our neighbor's conversations. We went back to the office to let them know that we were leaving a day early, and they never asked why we were dissatisfied. I will not return to this park, not recommend it to others. The internet rarely worked and you do not get any value for your dollar. We camped at Yosemite Pines RV Resort & Family Lodging in a Travel Trailer.

Spaces roomy. 21 miles to Yosemite Park Entrance. 18 mies more to get to the valley. Our destination was the Majestic Hotel, took 1 1/2 Hours on a Wednesday. The park was packed and hot 98*. We enjoyed the stay but will not return do to Hwy 120. We camped at Yosemite Pines RV Resort & Family Lodging in a Motorhome.

Thank you for taking the time to write and giving us a high rating. Once you arrive at the Resort, guests often take the YARTS to the park as it stops at our property during the spring and summer months.

We are working to improve the internet. So pleased you enjoyed Groveland and Yosemite. We do hope to see you again.

Gravel/dirt site (50) that was not level but the Jacks made it livable. Site was long enough for 37' rv with tow vehicle but was very narrow for the 4 slides. We were there in early May so the worker bees were working very hard on getting the park spruced up for the season. Clean showers and laundry (1.25 for wash and 1.00 for dry) and very helpful and friendly folks in the office. Yes the drive up is steep and windy but not as stressful as driving thru L.A.! On the drive down we connected the tow at the bottom of the hill. About an hr. drive to Yosemite village but we'll worth it. We camped at Yosemite Pines RV Resort & Family Lodging in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 4 nights to visit Yosemite NP. The grounds were mostly dirt and gravel. It was very dusty, but it IS California and they are in a terrible drought situation. Surprisingly the water pressure was good. The wifi was good ONLY during the day when everyone was away from the campground. The sewer connection was such that our fitting did not fit it. Our site #74 was very roomy and level. We did not use the restrooms , showers, or laundry. I prefer to use our own MH facilities. They have a small store and a Deli. The pool was full of rowdy kids. There is a petting zoo on site. The road in (Old Hwy 120) was narrow and twisting, but we were able to maneuver our 41 footer with toad attached. The Hwy coming up to Groveland (Priest Pass) was scary but we did it with our toad attached. We will leave the toad unhitched for the trip back down. As mentioned by another reviewer the CG is 22 miles from the entrance to Yosemite. The drive to Tuolumne Meadows is another 39 mi and Yosemite Valley was 24 miles from entrance. Cell service was zero for ATT. We would stay here again as choices are limited. We camped at Yosemite Pines RV Resort & Family Lodging in a Motorhome.

The drive up was a little scary, but not as bad as we expected after reading some of the reviews. It was easy to enter and exit the campground, and our site was long and mostly level. The kids loved the nature trail, petting zoo, and play area. We had almost no cell reception (Verizon). This was our basecamp for visiting Yosemite, and the drive to and from the park each day was not bad. The staff was friendly, and the laundry room was very small, but clean. We would stay here again.
