We got here following a long rainy period. They only have 1 or 2 sites that would support the coach and not sink into the lawn. The roads are gravel as was the site we had we had, we had to add 3" of lift to get level in addition to the on board system. It has some low hanging wires so we had to pull in facing forward and stop short of the wires. This put the 30 amp plug at the front of the coach and our cord was too short. The park had a 3o amp extension cord and we made the hook up fine. They have no sewer or dump station. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were the only ones there. The bathroom and showers were clean and the showers had great hot water and pressure. They have wifi that was pretty fast, I'm not sure how fast it would be when the place is full during the summer. Verizon phone and Mifi worked fine too. The site we had was mostly shaded by some Redwood trees. It's less than a mile (maybe .5 mi) into town and all the usual services. There's a brew pub down the street that has pretty good beer and ok food. This is a great place to base out of to explore the Redwood preserves in the area and access to the coast and Bodega Bay. Notes: The $49 was a winter rate and did not include the 12% tax. If you come in from the East be sure and take "River Road" from 101. It's a straight shot and easy drive. Your GPS will probably try and route you on 116. I would strongly suggest that you avoid this route. When pulling out of the park use caution, the traffic from the right is coming downhill at a good clip and you can't see up the road very far. If we're in the area we will probably stay here again. My research showed it to be the least expensive place in the area and easiest to get to. We camped at Parker's Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Armstrong Redwood preserve. Park at the visitor center and walk into the park at no charge for a nice 1.5 + mile hike/stroll through the redwoods. Stumptown brewery is just up the road and has pretty good beer and so so food. Great place to stage out to explore the coast. Jenner and Bodega Bay are pretty close.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here midweek and we had the park basically to ourselves, minus the three apparent full timers. For $43 I would expect there to be a dump on site. Be aware...there is NO sewage dump station. Very clean, used showers because there is no dump and those were clean with hot water. It is within walking distance from the town. Very quiet at night despite the proximity to Neely Rd. Was here three days before we saw the park managers, good thing we didn't need anything. We camped at Parker's Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This park is in a beautiful natural setting along the Russian River. It allows tents, and so was a good fit for us, traveling in a teardrop. However the small staff is just overwhelmed. Bathrooms are similar to what you would find in a campground, not RV park, w/cement floors and basic facilities. Bring your own toilet paper. The RV sites have 30 amp plus water, no sewer that I saw. They are arranged around two circular glades surrounded by trees, many of them lovely redwoods. Sites 1 thru 5 look really nice and are shady. All except 1a are back-in. The first night we stayed happened to be the beginning of BeerFest weekend, and every campsite was thronged with crowds of joyfully inebriated young men, who celebrated 'til the wee hours. However, people were courteous enough. After the weekend, the park emptied out, and during most of the week we were nearly alone in the spectacular setting. Campers returned the following weekend but it was much quieter. We were told that the park may be changing hands. We will be returning as it is a perfect fit for us with a daughter living within walking distance. It would be great if someone could take this diamond in the rough and shine it up! Note: although the park borders the Russian River, those areas appear to be tent campsites, and actual access to the riverbank is a little tricky. Much easier and probably safer to walk across the pedestrian bridge and go to Johnson Beach on the other side of the river, where there is a lovely and child friendly area for swimming or kayaking. We camped at Parker's Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Johnson Beach is great place to take kids. Guerneville is a food town and we did not eat a bad meal while there. The Korean diner, on Main, seems plain on the outside but has spectacular food. Betty's Spaghetti is a very nice place also, a little pricey but worth it for a nice meal. Juicy Pig great for barbecue. Wine country right outside your door, visit a winery or two. Many cute antique shops in Sebastopol, just 30 minutes away. And, drive out to Bodega Bay for a day at the ocean.

It is a tight squeeze for a big rig. Just a grassy area and some large trees. No satellite because of the trees. Needs to be updated. Quiet and close to town. Very dangerous getting out because of the blind curve. We camped at Parker's Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
