We prefer actual campgrounds with hookups to resort style RV parks. That being said, I personally would give this campground a 10! However, I know that most RV'er expect a 10 to only be given to resort style places. This has to be and will most likely forever be the BEST campsite we have ever had in an RV. I don't know what it's like when it gets really busy as we were lucky to almost have the place to ourselves. The scenery amongst the pine trees, mountains and with the river rushing by are exactly what I dream of in a campsite. It was difficult for us to get into and out of our site, however, the camp host was not only extremely helpful but also very knowledgeable and how exactly to accomplish getting in. The site was very large, it's just a windy and a little steep road nestled in the pines so it took some maneuvering and we were so grateful for his assistance. Which didn't just happen by chance I must add. The host told me in advance that he needed to be there to help us and he also called me that morning to find out about our expected arrival. I can't say enough about the excellent service we received. Another bonus was, we got to have a fire! This is almost unheard of in the CA forests anymore. We thoroughly enjoyed that every night! There are plenty of places to get delicious meals either close by or 15 minutes away. South Lake Tahoe is only 20-30 minutes away. The Hope Valley is one of the most beautiful places. We even decided to go back for the fall colors this year and stay at the cabins which are owned by the same people as the campground. I only wish this wasn't so far for us because I would make an annual trip there! We camped at Hope Valley Resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We loved this RV/tent park! Almost all the sites have water, sewer, and power. Some of the 'walk-in' tent sites don't have any amenities except gorgeous views. The host is fantastic! Very helpful and very friendly, as is Ryder, the host dog. All of the sites are spacious and nice. Some of the lower sites are right on the Carson River, but all are within walking distance of great fishing. There are restrooms and showers in the lower campground. If you are in the upper campground be aware that it's a longish and steep walk to the restrooms and showers! During business hours the cafe has a restroom available...but not in the middle of the night. There is some road noise from Highway 88 but at night it's very quiet. All sites have a fire pit and a picnic table- but at this time you can only use the fire pit at night since they are in a drought season. No fires during the day! The cafe is awesome- great meals and amazing pies, cookies and scones baked all day. There is also a small store with ice, some supplies and cold drinks. Sorensen's is 1/4 mile away and has a full restaurant. Everyone is very helpful and nice. We loved staying here but we aware that there is no phone service at all. Wi-Fi is available at the cafe during the day but very spotty. Sorensen's has Wi-Fi and no phone service. We will be back. Wonderful place! We camped at Hope Valley Resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Small hillside/creek site in wooded valley. Eric was very friendly host. Pretty quiet site. Didn't use restrooms or showers so don't know about them. Really enjoyed a coffee and home-made scone and cake at the bar by the entrance. Would return if in the area. We camped at Hope Valley Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Pleasant campground in an incredible setting. Coming in on Hwy 88 from the West, it's not the first "Sorensens" venue. Each driver in our party made the same mistake. It's the second "Sorensens". At first we thought we made a mistake booking this campground. Quite the opposite! The beautiful trees and sounds from the Carson River made this an unforgettable journey. Sites 13 and 14 are the largest. Our 31 foot 5th wheel fit just fine in 14. The road is in need of some smoothing out. Beware that road has no turnaround. The campground manager is friendly and helpful. The cafe and store convenient. Would return here again. We camped at Hope Valley Resort and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is in a gorgeous and simply stunning locale right on the river that is replete with incredible rapids and a meandering creek with amazing waterfalls! The campsites are pretty private with masses of flora, fauna, and trees in between, unlike so many other campgrounds where everyone is right on top of each other; which I absolutely abhor! There are also the delightful quaking aspens offering their unique tinkling melodies. And the symphonic sounds of the waterfalls and rapids are wondrous. I would like to offer corrections here for the only other review that is posted for this campground. 1. We were a party of 6 with both a tent and a very large RV of 36’ and we had NO trouble at all with maneuvering. There is definitely plenty of room to turn a large rig around without pulling into someone else’s site! 2. Most of the sites are definitely level; some are fairly small and others are amply roomy. 3. ALL of the lower sites have NO noise issues because the sound of the rapids and the waterfalls drown them out with their magnificence! We stayed in sites 14 and 15, which in my opinion are the best two here; 14 is the biggest and has great bathroom access and 15 is a magical little womb that is very private and has its own waterfall! The host was friendly, helpful, and a delight. The café/store was charming and has homemade pies to boot! The only thing I would change is a little more shade in some of the sites. We camped at Hope Valley Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

The campground is in a beautiful setting surrounded by trees and the Carson River. Access to sites 11-25 is on a steep, narrow and roughly paved road with sharp curves. Campground map does not give an accurate layout of sites or the road to them. We stayed in site 13 which required us to drive to the end of the road and back into another site to turn around when leaving. We have a 27' travel trailer and would not have been able to turn around if the campground was full. The campground is better suited to small trailers or motorhomes. Sites have DG pads and nice fire rings and tables, but most are not level. Can be noisy due to traffic on Hwy 88. Breakfast at the cafe was good. We camped at Hope Valley Resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.
