We reserved our site online. It was difficult getting the trailer in due to the angle of the road to the spacious site. After that feat was accomplished we enjoyed our stay there. I would definitely come back to camp here but choose a site that works better for our trailer. The location can't be beat. Loved the break from the heat being in the mountains. We camped at Mount San Jacinto State Park - Idyllwild Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Idyllwild is a quaint, rustic village high in the San Jacinto Mountains. It was fun to explore the town and hike nearby.

We were only able to be here one night while traversing the country from Orlando to LA. Very pretty place to be. We intend to come back for a week. The town of Idyllwild is just outside the park and looks like great place to check out. It took us an hour to get up the mountain and an hour to get down. Fairly steep with a winding road. The road provides turn outs every couple of miles so you can allow the faster vehicles, not towing a trailer, to pass. We camped at Mount San Jacinto State Park - Idyllwild Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Awesome park. Walk to downtown Idyllwild. Stayed in Sp-26, now a full-HU site w/sewer. The other electric sites are being upgraded and most are now 30amp. Lots of shade and growth, well spaced, semi-private. Very pleased, will stay here again !! We camped at Mount San Jacinto State Park - Idyllwild Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Gastrognome is a great restaurant in town. Get your fuel in Coachella, Hemet or Banning before heading up the hill.

I agree with with nearly all said by previous July 2011 reviewer. There are 33 sites including 1 hike/bike site and 1 accessible site #3 which is the only pull through site and the only site currently with 30 amp service and water but no sewer. Stayed 7 nights Sunday to Sunday. Best time is Sunday through Thursday as park is empty. Friday and Saturday is completely full and a bit of a madhouse. State Park staff and campground volunteer host are very friendly and attentive to the park. Ranger makes nightly drive/walk through entire park looking for troublemakers. Restrooms and showers are cleaned 2-3 times each day. Trailer limit is 24 feet. There is a small nature trail surrounding the park. We camped at Mount San Jacinto State Park - Idyllwild Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This state park also has another campground, Stone Creek with 46 campsites. Idyllwild Campground is in a forest next to the town; Stone Creek is 6 miles north surrounded by manzanita bushes. Out of 30 sites at Idyllwild Campground, 9 are tent only and the rest are tent & RV, 2 pull throughs. Water and sewer hook ups are available in a few sites such as site 26 where we stayed. Almost immaculate restrooms and showers. Activities within 2 miles include antiquing, restaurant/bar hopping, nature viewing, hiking, rock climbing, fishing at Strawberry Creek and campfire programs on Saturday evenings in the summer. The staff are serious about enforcing noise and 8 person per site rules. The only drawback was Camp Maranatha next door which had some raucous activities. We camped at Mount San Jacinto State Park - Idyllwild Campground in a Motorhome.
