Overall Rating:

Washrooms were cleaned 6 of 14 day stay, and out of hand soap, paper towels and toilet paper for at least half our stay. Seems to be nobody's job to look after the washrooms.

This park operates under different State departments and it becomes easy to blame another department, or say it is not their job. One park gate employee was very friendly, however there were another three that were not of the same kindness towards us as campers. Saw wild life in the park and that was very exciting. Gets a little busy on the weekends and noisier as the park fills up with the local campers. I guess I expect more of a personal experience than most, or at least I hope to. In this case it is more to keep to yourself and carry on with your own plans venturing outside the park for your excitement and relaxation. Take all your own washroom essentials including toilet paper and you should be fine. We camped at Lake Cahuilla in a Fifth Wheel.

We camped at Lake Cahuilla for a week in March. During the week it was quiet except for the constant firing range shooting (sounded like cannons, maybe reverberating off mts). On the weekend it was very crowded with loud music late into the evening and more shooting during the day. You can't kayak on the lake, or swim but there were lots of people fishing though I didn't see anyone catch anything. $2 per day extra per dog. so be prepared to pay extra at the gate for your pets. And they wouldn't honor our Passport America card for the discount. They said you had to use it when Paying online - thought honestly I didn't see the opportunity to do that. Lots of signs saying to stay away from the big horn sheep but at the gate they said they hadn't seen any in a long time. There are trees between the sites to provide a bit of shade which was nice. We probably won't return. We camped at Lake Cahuilla in a Motorhome.

It is a regional RV park adjacent to an approximate 5-acre agricultural reservoir that allows fishing, but no swimming or boating. Lovely view overlooking the lake, nestled behind nearby mountains. Water & 50 amp + dump site. We camped at Lake Cahuilla in a Motorhome.

We reserved our site by telephone. The reservation process was quick and efficient. We were told that the office closes at 5:00PM and to call if we were going to arrive later which we did. The staff stayed an extra 1/2 hour to accommodate us. Directions to the park were easy to follow and access to the park is good. Check in was quick, easy and informative. Parameter roads are paved and Big Rig accessible. The site (39) was a back in and was plenty long and wide. Services were on the left but up front. I did not need an extension for shore power but did need to add another hose for water. There is no sewer connection but a good dump station is available. The site was hard packed dirt and came with a metal picnic table and fire pit. There is a small stocked lake nearby. A small book exchange is located near the washrooms. We poked our heads into the washrooms and found them nice and clean. This park is just a nice spot to relax and enjoy the outdoors. We were given a Wifi code but there is no signal available in the park. We paid an 8:00 reservation fee and $35.00 per night for a dirt pad with water and power. We did not feel that we paid a fair price. This should have been a $20.00 park. We will not be returning. There are no restaurants or services nearby. Shopping is about 15 minutes away by vehicle. We camped at Lake Cahuilla in a Motorhome.

This park continues to age and reflect poor cleaning by staff. The facilities are crumbling apart and are a disgrace for a Government park. The host workers basically work at the entry kiosk but don't work in the park itself. On one day I asked a host if it was possible to have the garbage picked up near our site. This was left by a previous camper. The host said it wasn't in their job description and I would need to take it to the dumpster myself as there were no staff to do this. This park used to be a jewel but has become very sad. We have decided to not support this park until the facilities improve and they get some employees to manage the duties. For the price you pay here it is absolutely the worst Riverside County Park hands down! We camped at Lake Cahuilla in a Travel Trailer.

In just a few minutes you are away from the crowds. This little gem was a pleasant surprise. Pet friendly (but there is a $2.00 a day fee) with the water reservoir right outside your site. This recreation area has dry camp, equestrian and electric. We originally were going to stay for 2 days...but added 4 more on. A quiet oasis except for the sounds of the Sheriff's gun range at night. We really enjoyed our stay here. Lot spacing was very close with sunny/open exposure. The site surface was gravel. We camped at Lake Cahuilla in a Motorhome.

Very nice, quiet county park alongside a lake. Sites are back-in, packed sand with picnic tables and fire pits. Water and electric only. Wifi only in small gazebo at entrance to campground. Campground hosts and rangers friendly and helpful. Verizon signal good. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Lake Cahuilla in a Motorhome.

We have been full-timing for 8 months and have stayed in about 80 parks during that time. This has been the worst experience ever. The park posts quiet hours from 10PM-7AM but there is nobody here to enforce it. Calling their phone number at night goes to voice mail. We were right next to a group that set up large speakers and pumped industrial music at all hours of the day and night. After 2 nights of disturbances and asking them to quiet down, we spoke to a ranger who told us that we had to take matters into our own hands and call the police if they did not quiet down when we asked them to. So on the third night when we were awoken at 4AM, we called the police after they wouldn't turn off their music. They next day we discovered our motorhome was vandalized. It is ridiculous that the park requires guests to handle issues like this on their own. We understand that it was Coachella week, but we were at RV parks for SXSW, Mardi Gras, and Fantasy Fest and didn't experience things like this because the parks had security and enforced their rules. This place doesn't. Also, their dump station was very clogged the first time we used it and backed up during our black water dump! Even though we told a ranger about it, it was in even worse shape when we used it again a few days later (this time we only dumped gray, at least). They had suggested we use the other dump station but it way down a poorly maintained dirt road and I worried that tire damage to our rig would add more repair cost to the vandalism we already incurred. This park is nothing special and the fact that they expose guests to dangerous, uncomfortable, and unsanitary conditions make it one to avoid. We camped at Lake Cahuilla in a Motorhome.

I stayed for two nights in the primitive camping area. I did not use any of the facilities so cannot comment on them. The sites are close to the lake with limited shade trees. There is a path that you can bike or walk around most of the lake if not all. I did not go to the end. Fishing seems to be a popular activity. The park is a nice, inexpensive escape from the bustle of area. La Quinta is about 8 miles away and made for a nice bicycle ride. We camped at Lake Cahuilla in a Travel Trailer.

This is a desert campground on the edge of a man made lake. Sites have water and electricity and a dump station. Campsites appear all to be level and there are two large grass areas. Shade is sparse and while this would be a nice winter campground it will get very hot here in the summer.

Restrooms are campground and heavily used as there are tent campers here too. Restrooms and showers are kept quite clean even through a bit worn. They do have small bugs that are attracted to the lights so an early morning shower must be shared with these small critters! Showers are 50 cents for three minutes so plan on spending a dollar!

A nice stop for a day or two with some very beautiful and rugged mountains in the background. Easy access and friendly staff. There is a sheriff shooting range at the other end of the lake so campers will hear shooting in the distance from time to time, but never at night.

Each site has a fire ring and a metal picnic table. lakeside campsites all have a view of the lake and mountains. We camped at Lake Cahuilla in a Motorhome.

Close to a lot of desert attractions, including Palm Springs and the desert cities. Lots of great places to eat and shop within in few miles. As the campground is not an urban park, you will need your toad to get around the valley with.

What a find in the Palm Springs area! It is what it is, and that's not a resort. Located at the base of the mountains just south of La Quinta, it was quiet, relaxing, and a great base for the area. Sites on the exterior of the loop are level dirt, really spacious, and many have some shade. Coin operated showers were adequate and restroom was very clean. I will definitely stay here again when in the area. Price reflects Passport America. We camped at Lake Cahuilla in a Motorhome.

Conveniently located near town, this county park is nice enough, but over-priced. Gravel/dirt sites are average size with water and electric hookups at front. Flies enjoy trash cans with no lids. Extra fees for dogs, yet no dog facilities. There is a little hiking at west edge of park. Can not swim in the lake. The Passport America discount is supposedly available Mon-Wed (except holidays). We checked in Wednesday and told it was a holiday. After searching, the only holiday we found was Employee Legal Awareness Day. Guess there is some kind of holiday every day. Would not return. This is a great spot for a reasonable cost in the PS area. We love the location and the walking around the reservoir. The only thing this park lacks is sewer. If they had that, it would be so much better. Also, they do cash-grab a $1.00 pet fee per pet / day and I personally oppose it but the park is well priced and I could live with the pet fee in this case. Wi-Fi here was by a host's router and was awesome! Just get the sewer and I'll give it a 10! We camped at Lake Cahuilla in a Motorhome.

Absolutely loved this place and extended my stay by several nights. Beautiful lakeside setting, large lots with picnic table and BBQ/firepit. Only a few of the spots have sewer, but the dump station is convenient and easy to use. Lots of grassy areas; paddle boat and kayak rentals; WiFi access under a canopy at one end of the park. You can walk around the entire lake (about 3 miles). It's behind an upscale residential neighborhood and is a wonderfully quiet and relaxing spot. What an incredible find! If you have Passport America, it's only $11/night Sun-Thurs. Only downside: no swimming allowed in the lake. We camped at Lake Cahuilla in a Travel Trailer.
