The park is very clean and well cared for with full hook-ups, paved roads and established trees and landscaping. Our site was a level, graveled back-in site with a picnic table on small cement patio. All sites are very close, back in, and ours was satellite-friendly. The roads are narrow in places but we were able to navigate them with our 40' motorhome towing. Seems to be dog friendly. A mix of long term and short term rvs. We stayed two weeks while visiting family. Do wish that they were able to control the ant problem. Will stay here again. We camped at Rancho Los Coches RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Spent one night here on July 4. The office was closed on arrival, but our packet awaited. The park is an ungated established park in a residential neighborhood. Lots of shade trees. Our site was a level back-in gravel site, easy back in. Paved roads are narrow in places but no problems navigating our 38' motorhome. Standing water in a drainage canal near the dog run promotes mosquitoes. Dog friendly. There seemed to be a mix of long term and short term patrons. Water and electricity worked well. Did not hook up to sewer or cable. Wifi didn't work because we were given the wrong code. When I mentioned that the next morning, staff was friendly but pretty much unapologetic (too bad, so sad, its free so you don't get any credit, etc., while I'm thinking it's not free because its included in the price, which was premium.) Overall an okay park for a short stay. We camped at Rancho Los Coches RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed for one month. There's a monthly rate that is very reasonable. The resort is very quiet, clean and the staff is extremely friendly. There are long term residents but the resort makes sure that the rigs and those sides are up to snuff. We camped at Rancho Los Coches RV Park in a Motorhome.

We enjoyed our stay, the grounds are a little on the tight side but doable. It is clean and quite, the staff is very helpful and friendly. It is just a cool setting, and nice people. The laundry room is really big with multiple washers and dryers and super clean. We will stay here again when in San Diego County for sure. We camped at Rancho Los Coches RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Efficient check-in. All sites are back-in, some narrow. Amazingly quit at night, despite nearby roads and freeway. Wi-Fi was good. Large very clean pool, unfortunately no shade. Restrooms are old, but clean. We didn't connect to cable. The daily rate of $65 is exclusive breakfast. Yes ladies and gentlemen, these kind of prices are for hotel rooms, not for RV parks. Due to this high price, we won't come back. We camped at Rancho Los Coches RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We were here for 9 days in May. This park has many full time residents but is kept very neat. You wouldn't know that most of them are here long term unless you were here yourself for awhile and watched for RVs coming and going. The showers were very clean, were spacious and had good water pressure. Our site was a premium site that backed up to the creek area. Dog lovers will enjoy the big area past the creek for their pets to run. The price isn't cheap, but this is Southern California after all. It is about a half hour from downtown San Diego or the airport. **Caution: Watch out for the large boulder on the drainage grate near the office; we hit our bottom step as we were pulling up. The road is tight there. I suggested putting a tall pole with a flag on it so as to keep others safe, but it seemed to fall on deaf ears. We would come back here again if in the area. We camped at Rancho Los Coches RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for Christmas 2016. We were in space #49. This space is big enough that you can park your tow vehicle in front of the 42 foot motorhome and still have extra room. The location is fairly close to San Diego Tourist areas. The park is clean. Mostly long term, but really quiet at night. We camped at Rancho Los Coches RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

All San Diego area CGs are expensive. Premium sites are "semi-private" with a nearby neighbor but the CG put up privacy partial-fences between units. Off I-8, take exit 22, drive north "a few blocks" to Highway 8 Business, turn right past the liquor store, go just over ¼ mile with their sign on the left. All local roads are asphalt in good condition. Staff are friendly and helpful. Credit cards or cash accepted - no checks. Tent camping but no cabins/yurts. CG roads are sufficiently wide, asphalt in good condition but with sharp speed-bumps. Some turns are tight but no driving or overhead obstacles. CG is built on a hillside in steppes. All sites are back-in. FHU-20/30/50. Most sites are gravel, level, with utilities at the rear, with modest landscaping (San Diego is a desert). Sewer connections are at ground level. Premium sites have concrete patios and picnic tables. There are tall trees throughout the CG making satellite reception challenging. Fires not permitted. Adequate water pressure with an "ok" taste. Office doesn't really have a store but a shelf or two of RV essentials are available. Restrooms/showers have modern fixtures and are super-clean (score "A+"). Propane sales by local delivery to your site - schedule at office. Buy propane at Sky Fuel on E. Main at Greenfield (about 3 miles away) at $2.39/gallon plus tax. Laundry. No playground. Cable TV provided by Cox; get converter box at office. Small but nice fitness room. Free Wi-Fi for overnight stays. Verizon coverage at "4-bars"; Jetpack 4G coverage at "2-bars". Heated pool and spa. Covered, outdoor game area with billiards, ping-pong, dart board. This is a quiet CG; minimal freeway noise. Bug Report: small red ants infested the rig; contact office to spray if you have a problem. Recycle dumpster takes typical recyclable items. We camped at Rancho Los Coches RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Lakeside is a suburb of San Diego. Whatever you want, you can find. Clean, public landromat at Hwy 8 Business and Los Coches. Wal-Mart south on Los Coches road, under freeway then up the hill. Diesel prices vary from $2.56 to $2.90 with availability all over the place. Camping World is in San Marcus, one hour away. Numerous other RV stores for parts or service. Office has the list. Lowes and Home Depot in Santee. Mission Gorge road will have most of your needs.

Starting off with the staff at the office - they were super friendly and very helpful. The park looks like a parking rather than an asphalt parking lot. The space had shade, plenty of room on the side, the front and a picnic table on a concrete pad.

Pool, showers, and bathroom were all spotless as was the rest of the park.

It was a very nice experience. We camped at Rancho Los Coches RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is one of your typical trailer/rv parks converted to a "Resort." It is not a resort at all. It is nicer than your normal trailer park for sure, but far from a resort.

RV visitor sites were gravel (ok) with very nice cement pads. Good water and television. We camped at Rancho Los Coches RV Park in a Motorhome.

There are a lot of permanent rigs. They have a large mostly fenced grassy area to run your dogs. The basic layout of the park allows for cool breezes to reach each level of the park Our site was sort of a "parallel parking" site - a challenge for a 5th wheel.

We found the office staff a bit prickly.

Since that is the face of the park we were disappointed. We camped at Rancho Los Coches RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here on a monthly basis for 2 months, hence the lower daily rate. The current rate is $48 but discounts are available. There are several permanent residents, but everything is kept up quite nicely. The park has many trees and most sites have some shade. They have a rec room, kitchen, game room, heated pool and Jacuzzi. We camped at Rancho Los Coches RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The San Diego Trolley is located at Trolley Square in Santee, which is about 10 minutes away. It's a great way to travel into the city and only $2.50 each, for a round trip senior day pass. They have a snowbird section of sites, and have tried to cater to snowbirds by starting a game night, but it wasn't well attended. It may catch on later.

Attractive wooded, terraced, treed RV park tucked along small stream in historic ranch setting. Easy utility connections with excellent water pressure. Wifi was a local provider. While service was good, it was limited to two one-day passes and one hour per day without paying. We used excellent Verizon 4G LTE signal. Bridge to frisbee golf and dog run area that was huge. Peaceful and quiet. We camped at Rancho Los Coches RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We arrived at 06:30pm, and the office was closed. My traveling buddy was directed to the manageress who was very grumpy and not too impressed we turned up "late", despite our calling ahead three hours ago to say we'd be arriving after 6pm as we'd hit traffic and road works. She told us to go park in a lot and to fix the rest of the business up in the morning, then closed the door in her face! Not a friendly reception! And no key to access the facilities overnight that we'd already pre-paid for in full. Boo! No discount given in the morning either for a lack of access to the facilities. The park itself is a little out from San Diego, about 35mins drive, about 3 hours via public transport. On a positive note, there is a bus stop right out the front of the park that takes you to the trolley, which runs into SD. Unfortunately, this service is limited and inconsistent, and non-existent on Sundays. It also drives through some pretty rough neighborhoods. Otherwise, the grounds of the park are clean, and it's got a reasonable amount of shade. It's very hilly with some tight turns. The lots are gravel, some have concrete slabs, and most very uneven. There is a clean pool, 2 large showers with 2 sinks and a key is needed for access. As previously stated, the "Fitness room" is nothing more than a large closet with a treadmill with two dumbbells and a multifunctional gym piece that is falling apart. It requires a code and is located right behind the office. If you use it with music aloud, the office complains. It also smells like it rarely gets air. The laundry is a mix with both top and front washers and there are plenty of dryers, note however, the facilities (including the pool) all get locked at 9pm. Too bad if you are doing laundry and you've spent all day at the SD zoo. The park is generally quiet, filled with a large number of permanent residents, and often it feels like you're intruding. The management is unfriendly, inflexible, and at times, dictatorial rude. One day I mentioned to the office that the hot water was not working in one of the showers after waiting 20mins (timed on my phone). Despite being there a number of nights already - where the water did work - (and in the USA over 4 weeks) and showering frequently, the management told me there was no problem with the unit but they'd get maintenance to review it anyway. The janitor then came to my RV stating because I was "a foreigner", I didn't "know how to use the shower faucet correctly". I was not impressed. Hwy 8, Walmart, Vons, Radioshack and UPS are located about 2mi from the park. I'd recommend staying elsewhere but it'll do if there is no other choice. Although there doesn't not seem like a lot of choice in SD, there is plenty of hidden gems closer to the city. We camped at Rancho Los Coches RV Park in a Motorhome.
