We've stayed at the A V Fair Grounds RV Park several times. The Park is Big Rig friendly, with full hook ups. Unfortunately, the park has gone downhill! There is no management on the premises during the day! And when they are on site they ignore what's going on in the park. Park rules state "Temporary Residence Only, with a maximum stay of 21 consecutive days"; in reality most spaces are occupied by "long term" residents! The sheriff was on site 3 of the first 5 days we were in the park. The sheriff was called to the park twice for actions of a single resident, chasing him with tasers! The washroom security codes have been compromised by the local homeless population that use the facilities. RVs park across the street from the park in the desert and the occupants walk across the street to use the facilities. One long term park resident, who was parked adjacent to the East Center Dog Run, turned the run into their private dog park. They strung metal wires between poles and tied their 3 large dogs up to the leads and left them unattended. Other dog owners could not use the run! When the occupants relocated they left dog feces everywhere... And again, the "Park Manager" drives past this daily! Park Rules state "no outside storage", one trailer has an old couch behind it. A 'Long Term" resident sleeps on the couch at night! The number of vehicles that show up after dark, parked across the street from the park, is concerning... I called the Sheriff the morning I found a driver slumped behind the wheel of a pickup!! Later that afternoon, that same pickup was parked at the restroom facilities with the driver inside using the facilities! This park has become DANGEROUS due to a complete lack of management oversight! If the park management doesn't exert control over the park and begin enforcing park rules, someone is going to be injured or worse! This is really a shame because this was once a very nice little park. We camped at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Posted rates are incorrect. Seems all sites are now min $30. Way too many 'permanent' longterm residents. Onsite management is non-existent. Not too bad for an overnighter, would consider again if desperate. It's just a concrete parking lot with service islands. We camped at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

We came for the LA County Air show so it was pretty full but the manager still got us into a FHU, 50amp site for our 42' MH. The air show is just a couple of miles away and some folks just put chairs in the field outside the park to watch. Spring for the fifteen bucks or whatever it was for the show. The RV park is just a converted parking lot next to the fairgrounds. Good overnighter or for whatever else might bring you to the area. Good value, clean, and safe. Tips for other Campers:

The poppies were not yet in bloom at the state park about 15 miles away. It's probably beautiful in April. Edwards Air Force base is just a few miles away - we heard sonic booms two mornings in a row. Never saw the source. At the end of March is the LA County Air show at an airport about three miles away. Perfect place to stay.

Large asphalt parking lot with stripes and utility pedestals. All sites long and wide and FHU. The pull thru sites 50 amps, $25, back in sites 30 amps, $20. No reservations. Pick a site and self-pay. Good power and 80 lbs water pressure. No store, pool etc. RR and showers large and nice. A mile from Freeway. Friendly and helpful staff. No discounts. Will stay there again. Good for what it is - an asphalt parking lot with hookups. Sites are level and spacious enough, hookups are good. Excellent value (only $20 for 30 amp). They don't take reservations, and we were fortunate to snag one of the last sites around 3:30 p.m. (don't know if that's normal). Quiet at night, but it's right next to Edwards Air Force Base and the noise from the planes was deafening when we arrived. A sonic boom shook the RV so hard the next morning we thought something had hit the roof. We camped at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Late March through April add a trip to the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve 15 miles away. Miles of trails through a carpet of orange poppies. Stunning!

I stay here on a sporadic schedule whenever I visit family. It's always had spaces available. However, I believe the park closes during their state fair in August. The spaces are easy access and wide. I parked my truck and trailer plus had adequate room to park a borrowed vehicle next to my trailer during my stay. The park and restrooms/showers are quite clean and spacious. However the shower curtains were tattered and kinda moldy. The park is a mix of travelers and longer term residents. All were quiet and friendly. While I was there the fairgrounds had a large swap meet one weekend and a rodeo another weekend. Neither event created excess noise or traffic.

Wi fi is available but was marginal at best. There is no cable which is something that is sorely needed, as over the air TV reception was terrible.

This park is a good place to use as a base if you have other things to do. I noticed the park host are not always around during the day so you have to self register. The problem with that I witnessed is if you happen to leave without leaving something to "mark" your site and someone else come in and sets up in your spot, you're gonna have headache to straighten things out.

One other thing- don't leave your awnings open unattended as the winds can pick up suddenly and usually every afternoon. We camped at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

This is a concrete lot on the north side of the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds with full hookups and 50 amp power for $25/night. We stayed here one night as a stopover on a trip. There are no services here other than hookups. The rv slots are painted lines on the ground.

If you are attending an event at the Fairgrounds, it is an ideal location. If there is no fairgrounds event, as for our night, this camp is quiet and isolated.

There were many longer term residents during our stay, working on the new solar panel farms outside of town according to our neighbor.

The camping slots are wide and easy to access. The power voltage was consistent as the water pressure. Be sure to check in with the RV park manager since they do take reservations. That wasn't clear to us when we used the self service check-in. We later saw it in their printed rules.

We didn't use the bathrooms or showers as we stayed in our unit. There was a consistent 20 knot west wind all night long so nobody was using awnings.

Basic services for a reasonable price. We camped at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

This is a great place for what it is - a paved parking lot in the Mojave Desert. Given that it is in Lancaster and most people don't have any reason to come to Lancaster, it is a very good place to stay for a few nights depending on your reason for being in the area.

The bathrooms are extremely clean - free showers - full hookups - very cheap rate $20 a night. It is very clean and quiet - except you can hear the freeway because in the desert sound travels a long ways.

The WiFi is very good and free. The manager is very nice. If you want to pay by credit card you have to wait until she is around - but that was no big deal. Very few channels for TV on the antenna. Satellite signal very good.

Very large level sites - with both pull through and back in. Any size rig could stay here. We camped at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

My wife and I have stayed at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds RV Park several times in the past because of its location close to where our boys live in Lancaster. The park is large enough that reservations usually are not needed. It has no trees, grass, club houses, pools, pet areas (except for the desert across the street) it also has no laundry facilities or cable. It is a bare minimum city run park with no RV club discounts. It does however have large restroom and showers that are usually clean and in working order that are taken care of by a cleaning crew. The park is all asphalt and it has fairly wide spaces for pull thru's and back end parking. It has a great Verizon signal and easy for RV's of any size to maneuver. It is freeway close.

As for the cons. Read the park rules posted on the wall when you arrive and do the self serve check in and then just flush the rules out of your mind because there is no one who enforces these rules once you clear the front gates. While we know the park is located next to the Fairgrounds we do expect to hear loud speakers during the day if there is an event going on. You may hear a concert till 2am on the weekend. There is also an off road motocross track next door that you will hear loud motorcycles and a PA on Friday to Sunday from 8am to 4PM. We can deal with that but, the go carts, dirt bikes, motorized skateboards and dogs running lose in the park itself should not be expected at an RV park especially run by the city. There is one manager on site and she does nothing but look after her flowers at her RV and just collect the money from the box. If you call her on the list ph. # if will go to voice mail. She does nothing if you ask her in person to do her job as a manager and advise the violators to stop. I know from experience from my past profession that talking to people who ride these loud toys or let their dogs run loose that it only brings anger, animosity and retaliation even if you politely ask someone to stop. You have to keep one eye open so they don't vandalize your property. I have seen this happen to other nice people who just try to ask others to do the same. While I ride a Harley I don't start it until I am ready to leave and I don't make excessive noise to let the world know what I ride. Others don't get that you're not the only person in the world. One more reason why we left Calif.

This park is just conveniently close to our boys and that is why we stay here. If your looking for a really nice park in the Antelope Valley (Lancaster/Palmdale) area then you might want to check out parks in Acton. We camped at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

This spot is just an overnight concrete pad with full hookups. The bathrooms and showers are not deluxe and may not be very clean. There is no caretaker around so I really don't know if the place has Wi-Fi, I doubt it. We were surrounded by big rigs, carnival vans, permanents, and others looking for a one night stopover. The fairgrounds had Monster trucks but the noise stopped at 10:00 pm. It is very quiet and basic. We camped at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

This place is great for what it is: a flat, fenced, paved parking lot with plenty of space. Reasonable rates, clean facilities. It is a good over night on the "back way" to Palm Springs that avoids most of the crazy L.A area traffic. We camped at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

I agree with the positive reviews posted by others. It's a parking lot with well spaced sites with full hookups and a great, quiet spot for an overnight stay. The sites are concrete and level, for the most part, although some are slightly off and you might have a problem getting a total dump. I moved from my site to a pull through site that worked better for me to dump. I tried calling and e-mailing to see if there was in issue with arriving late at night, but got no response from e-mailing and couldn't leave a message because the voice mail box was full for several days. Took a chance and arrived at 1:30 AM on New Year's day. No problem. Many spaces to choose from and it was quiet. WiFi is available, but the password that was posted did not work. All in all, we'd stay again when in the area. We camped at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

If you are looking for a place to park your RV with full hookups for a good price, this is it. If you are looking for a place with other amenities, this is NOT it! We were in Lancaster for our granddaughter's softball tournament so this was the perfect place to stay, since we only used it to sleep in. It is located in the back of the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, away from the main roads in a fenced-in area with lots of lighting so we felt very comfortable and safe. When we were trying to plan our trip we had to call the office number several times before we got anyone to answer. When we got there no one was at the office to take our payment so instead of being able to use our debit card we had to write a check and drop it in a slot. In the two days that we camped there we never saw any evidence that management was on-site but since we had no problems it wasn't an issue for us. This is a good place to stay if you will be busy doing other things while you are in the Lancaster area and we will stay there again if we have another tournament there. We camped at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

This is a parking lot with hookups. Maintenance is going down hill. I had to use a pair of pliers to turn on the water. I told the manager and she did not seem very concerned. I paid by credit card which meant that I had to go into her mobile home. I sure wish there was something better in the area. We camped at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Price reflects 50 amp FHU pull-through site. This was our second stay. The park is no frills, no reservations, sites selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Basically a large asphalt parking lot with 50 amp pull-through and 30 amp back-in sites. 30 amp sites are $20/night. Beware of the coyotes and the winds. We would stay again.
