The cabin itself was spotless, in a heavily wooded area. Nice camper store, fully stocked and gifts too. Pay showers were disgusting, half of them were out of service. Right next to the lake. Worth staying here. It was noisy though, apparently there is no noise enforcement. People yelling at the top of their lungs till past dark. We camped at Manzanita Lake (NPS Campground) in a Cabin.

We stayed in the A loop, with reservations. Site was nice, not too close to neighbors. Shaded; good for heat, bad for solar. We enjoyed our 3 nights. Facilities were OK, flush toilets but nothing else. There are showers at the camp store within walking distance. Store also has typical groceries and food, and a snack bar and souvenirs, and gasoline. It is near Manzanita lake with fishing and boating (no motors). We camped at Manzanita Lake (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Lassen is great with lots of hiking. See Bumpass Hell and at least one waterfall, and if you are in good shape, to the top of Lassen Peak. It is "volcanic" park as there are lots of volcanic features including the 4 types of volcanoes. Fascinating scenery.

We stayed in late September during the week, so it was pretty empty and very quiet. They start closing things up around the park at this time though. I think all the other campgrounds in the park were already closed. The campground roads looked newly paved. We had a long pull-through site. We love the beauty and fresh air of national parks. Lake Manzanita is just beautiful. This campground is a great base for exploring Lassen Volcanic National Park which is just amazing. We stayed three nights. There are no hookups, but they have a dump station ($5) where you can also fill your fresh water tank. There is no cell phone reception at the campgrounds, but if you drive one mile up the main highway (highway 89) to point of interest #14 (Chaos Jumbles I believe), there is decent 4G reception. Also beware of the squirrels and chipmunks. They somehow got into our minivan and shredded some paper towels. We later found that they had stashed a bunch of pine nuts in the compartment where the third row seats are stowed. The camp host said they also steal the insulation from the engine compartment to use for their bedding. We camped at Manzanita Lake (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Our $9 half-price rate was based on our Senior Pass (which I think is overly generous) but, at the same time, this was strictly dry camping so that's about all I'd be willing to pay anyway. This is a typical NPS CG with LOTS of people crammed in. The sites are reasonably level asphalt.

The one thing I dislike about NPS is the Reserve America (RA) system. At this CG, RA essentially owns Loop A. Even if there's an empty space in Loop A, park employees can't edit the RA system to show I'm in it. Bottom line, an RA customer can boot me from a site at any time. Otherwise, the CG is acceptable for a few days while exploring the area. The restrooms and showers ($1.50/3 minutes) are clean and the dump ($5 regular/$2.50 Senior Pass) is well maintained. We had zero signal on either Verizon or T-Mobile devices. We camped at Manzanita Lake (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

We spent two nights here and really enjoyed this campground. The campground wasn't very crowded, although there were lots of reserved sites for campers who were being displaced by the fires in the area. There are four loops, A, B, C, and D, which is for tents only. We chose site B46, which was a pull-through, because it was fairly easy to level. Many of the sites would require significant leveling. The biggest drawback was the dust...it's basically dirt camping except for the pad. This is the kind of dirt/dust that sticks to everything, so the dogs required a lot of clean-up before being allowed back into the RV. Neither AT&T nor Verizon worked in our site, but they were usable near the store. Nice walk around the lake. Nice campground host. I'd like to come back in the spring when there might be a bit of grass in the campsites. We camped at Manzanita Lake (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

At store, before entering camp loops, the camp road is not visible ahead. I found signs confusing, especially having a big rig. The sign at the store has a right turn to Manzanita Lake and cabins, but no sign to camp at that point. The camp sign is back several feet, and does not indicate where to go, which is straight up past the store. The pull-through sites are limited with big-rigs. I backed into pull-through site 45B, because the trees made a tight curve in the middle of the site. My RV is 10' high, and there was a dead branch scratching my solar panels. The pull-through sites have issues with branches, low hanging limbs, trees making the curve tight. Don't go by the length alone, because many sites are long. Threaded spigots throughout camp. Camp road and site pads are paved. We camped at Manzanita Lake (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

We camped here for 3 nights in late August. Beautiful campground with lots of trees, fire rings, friendly and helpful staff. Our kids rode their bikes on and on. Restrooms and showers were clean. The showers are a bit tricky: you pay 4 quarters and a 3 minutes shower, and on occasion the hot water started only about 2 minutes or later. So make sure to bring extra quarters. No hookups. Water needs to be taken from fountains spread throughout the camp. All in all: highly recommended for people wanting to explore this amazing park and who don't mind roughing it. Don't miss renting a kayak on the lake, enjoying amazing views of Lassen Peak. We camped at Manzanita Lake (NPS Campground) in a Tent Trailer.

This campground is located just inside the north entrance to Lassen Volcanic National Park near the Visitors Center. It is heavily treed. We were able to get our 40 foot Class A into Site A11 without difficulty. We would definitely stay here again if visiting the area. This is a campground with campfires and kids riding bikes. If you are looking for paved sites, Wi-Fi and cable TV then this is NOT for you. We camped at Manzanita Lake (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.
