Campground has about 20 hook up sites split between an upper and lower loop. There are many non hookup sites (over a hundred in season) but no generators allowed anywhere. The upper loop has a small store and a lawn that is regularly watered. There are many wild turkeys and deer along with squirrels, magpies, turkey vultures etc. Showers are no extra charge but somewhat annoying in that each button press only gets about 10 seconds of water. No cell coverage (AT&T) and no internet; you have to drive up the hill about 2 miles to use a cell phone. We saw more RV's than people; it seems many people park here during the week to be close to work in the Bay Area. Close to hiking trails and (of course) the lake. We camped at Del Valle in a Travel Trailer.

This is a regional park that locals use, especially on weekends. We were here over the Fathers' Day weekend and the lines to get into the park went on for miles! On Sunday late afternoon the park was FULL and people were turned away. If you have a campground reservation you can get in, of course, but you still have to wait in that awful line. The park is located in a deep valley with NO phone service whatsoever, and of course no internet, which was difficult for us full-timers. We went to the Livermore library, about 15 minutes away, for a good place to take your computer or tablet. The sites are well spread out. The lake seemed popular with most folks. We would not come here again because of the phone/internet issues. We camped at Del Valle in a Motorhome.

We camped here in Tent in mid Sept. The camp site is very spacious with most of the sites having tree shades. Overall a nice campsite with access to lake and lot of hiking trails. We camped at Del Valle in a Tent.

Very nice campground. No sewer hook-ups, but had restrooms nearby. Allowed campfires at each site and had fire rings at sites. Plenty of space between campers and had overflow parking (for towing my boat). Lake is close. Had a long line at boat launch but that was to be expected in July. Lots of wildlife to spot. Beach was a little crowded but was not overly crowded. Surrounding area was definitely dry...but we are in a drought! Definitely will come back...location, location, location! We camped at Del Valle in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $42.00

The park itself is an absolute 10: It's gorgeous and expansive with lots of hiking areas to explore and wildlife to see. I spoke to several park personnel, both in person and on the phone, and all of them provided outstanding customer service.

Here's the catch: We booked our site online for our 42' rig. It was plenty long enough but it was so far out of level front to back that there was no way I could level out our rig. I would have had to lift my front tires off the ground 2'7"... that's not an exaggeration, it's a calculated fact. We suffered through climbing uphill to our bedroom in the back for one night and decided to cancel the rest of our 5-night stay.

Because of the way their computer systems are set up, once your stay has begun you Can't cancel the rest of your days. I spoke to a very nice woman on the phone and I told her about our problem and that I was thinking of moving. She explained the "can't cancel" issue and suggested that I write an email to her supervisor and explain the situation and that he "could probably do something to help." I called back an hour later to confirm that we would be moving and that I would just take my chances on getting some of my money back. The second woman I spoke to was extremely sympathetic to our problem, and she took it upon herself to speak directly to her supervisor after we'd hung up... I got a phone message from her a couple hours later stating that a refund had been approved and would appear on my card after our initial reservation dates had passed, which is exactly what happened. Now That's exemplary customer service.

The level issue described above didn't impact the long 5th wheels we saw there as badly as it did us, but they were using Lots of blocks and 2x4's to do it.

So the park deserves a 10-star rating as long as you can actually park there. There was one site I saw that was long and level enough for us, #5, but it was reserved. I was told there are pull-thru's in a section of the park that was closed when we were there, but they'd be the best option "next time." We camped at Del Valle in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Our GPS directed us down through town to get there, but the easiest way by far is to take South Vasco Road south from 580, right on Tesla, left on Mines Road. Otherwise, you'll be dodging low trees, narrow lanes and thick traffic all the way through the heart of Livermore.

We stayed here one night, so we did not explore much. The drive from the freeway is very hilly and has some really sharp turns. We enjoyed the large open field that our site butted up to and the very nice distance between neighboring sites. A very pleasant place to stay! We camped at Del Valle in a Motorhome.

Lake Del Valle is a great place. We enjoyed walking from the RV sites to the Lake - nice path. It is very removed from hi tech. They now have a small number of sites with electricity, which was helpful as we were there in the winter. Full of nature enjoyment. We camped at Del Valle in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an amazingly beautiful park, very well maintained, with a great deal of space between sites. There are miles and miles of hiking/biking trails with many benches and picnic tables. There is also a convenience store within the campground which was very handy as we ended up needing a couple of things. I can understand why another reviewer had a major issue with the 10 PM curfew, but it was fine with us as we only left during the day. This was our first stay here but we will certainly return, would love to bring our kayaks when the reservoir is full. No Wi-Fi, cable or cell coverage, but that's not so bad every now and then. We camped at Del Valle in a Travel Trailer.

Lets start with the positive. This is a very pretty park in rolling hills and wine country. They actually allow you to have beer and wine on site. The sites have full hookups and are actually quite spacious. There is absolutely no cell service until you are out of the park. We were visiting our niece in Walnut Creek (40 minutes in distance). We were appalled when we were told if you are not back by 10PM the gates are locked and there is NO way back in if you are late. If you park in overflow then you are ticketed and towed. We thought the $45 was very high for a regional park and the curfew was unacceptable. If you are planning to stay and not leave the park, you will not have this issue. The lake is lovely. We camped at Del Valle in a Motorhome.

Campground is five miles south of Livermore, at south end of Del Valle reservoir. There are four loops, two for just tents or very small campers, with mostly tight back-in spurs. Two other loops have larger back-ins and some pull-throughs, 21 of which have water and sewer hook-ups but no electric. The roads and spurs are asphalt-paved. Sites and roads are tight, with tight turns and low branches. Big rigs might be able to maneuver some spots, but even our 34-foot MH was tight. Most spots have a ten-foot table and fire ring with adjustable grill. Trees shade many spots. Nice grass open field in center of each loop for kids to play. 1/4 mile walk to lake, swimming beach. We camped at Del Valle in a Motorhome.
