Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We very much enjoyed our stay at this low key and very family friendly RV park. The staff were all super friendly. The common areas are all centrally located with a pool, hot tub, big rec room, showers, laundry and very well outfitted camp store. There is also a kid's playground as well as some animals on site, tortoises and a number of birds in a large bird cage. Facilities hours were generous, summer hours are 7am to 10pm for all of the above, and 7am to 8pm during the winter. The kids practically lived at the pool, which gave us lots of quiet reading time. The park is well shaded with plenty of mature trees, most all the sites have a tree or share one. No small feat in the Owens Valley. The sites are large, all have full hookups. They are dirt with a concrete pad containing a picnic bench. Each site also has a fire ring and a BBQ. The fire ring also has a larger grill that can be set on top of it or swung out of the way. I'd say the only issue I ran into is that on the back-in sites the utilities are located in an odd spot towards the back of the site, so you need to run a long sewer hose if your sewer connection is at the middle of your RV like most. Bring a 25ft hose and trestle, as well as a 25ft fresh water hose. Every other person around us had to do the same thing. 10ft will not be sufficient unless you have a very small RV / trailer and park it at the back of the site. We would happily stay here again. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

A mile up the road is the town of Lone Pine, lots to see and do including the Film History Museum. Alabama Hills is just to the West, as is Whitney Portal, a beautiful forested campground with a waterfall and a world famous restaurant counter that makes enormous pancakes. It is the main starting point for Hiking Mount Whitney. 15 minutes up the road is Independence, home of the Eastern California Museum, and just West is excellent hiking up Kearsarge Pass.

Overall Rating:

This is a solid, well-above-average RV park and the hard reality is that - if you're looking for a full-hookup site anywhere in the Owens Valley (and most definitely in the Lone Pine area of the valley) - there are not many (probably not any) better options. The park is divided into a longer-term/overflow area where the sites are a bit roomier and relatively flat, but less aesthetically pleasing; and a shorter-term area that is well-shaded with large pine trees. Like many parks in the desert southwest all of the drives are paved with asphalt while the sites themselves are hard-packed gravel. There is some slope and many of the sites, especially in the shorter-term area, will require some leveling and perhaps some squeezing to fit the bigger rigs + tow vehicles. However, overall the park is quite pleasant and the facilities are clean and well-maintained. The park is adjacent to U.S. 395 and there is some traffic noise but it is exceptionally well-screened by some of those aforementioned pine trees and that seems to do a pretty good job of blocking the highway noise (along with a clear view of the mountains to the west). The park office is in the back of what is, essentially, a well-stocked convenience store that sells a lot of basics, including a good selection of wine, beer and RV supplies. One classy touch is the seven-days-per-week provision of complimentary coffee and muffins in the roomy, pleasant community room adjacent to the store/pool/bathrooms/laundry complex. The WiFi is decent. When I first arrived users had to re-log on every 15 minutes, which was a little annoying but not unworkable because it did not require re-entering the password each time. One click got you re-connected after the initial log on. Then, mysteriously, about halfway through my stay the 15-minute log on requirement disappeared. Bottom line, by RV park standards, the WiFi is decent; sometimes slow, sometimes spotty but usually functional. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a large park. Our site was not level, fairly small (for our 19-ft travel trailer), and close to our neighbor. But talk about a spectacular view of the Sierras to the West! The park is relatively quiet at night with some truck traffic on the adjacent US395. The bathrooms/showers were not that great and could use some work. There was no heat and it was pretty cold when we were there (the end of April). The park is close to restaurants in Lone Pine and to the Mt. Whitney Portal Road (turn west at the only stop light in Lone Pine). The Portal Road provides some spectacular views of the mountains. We would stay here again. Overall Rating:

I stay here when I travel from northern Nevada to southern CA, as I no longer do the "Git thar in one day!" type of travel. This was my 4th time staying here and I have been pleasantly satisfied each time. I haven't needed to have a reservation but that may be because I usually travel during the week. Staff has always been very nice and inviting. The store is well stocked with just about anything a traveling RV'r might need plus various knick knacks & gift items. There's a small dog kennel next to the store and a big wagon mounted bar-b-que next to that. The interior roads are easy to navigate with adequate room to back into your site, if necessary. I've stayed in various sites, both pull thru and back in. As I'm only an "overniter", I don't unhook. Even so, I've never had to do more than minimal leveling. Hook ups were easy with good water pressure & power. The cable TV had lots of channels. I will stay here again. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Manzanar is important, humbling. The drive up to Whitney Portal was well worth it for the view, and the unique change of scenery. The area up around Alabama Hills is really something. Lone Pine is a nice little town with lots of funky little shops and restaurants. Hiking, fishing, hunting, scenery all around.

The staff here is the greatest. They are friendly, hard-working and got up early to make muffins for us by 7 a.m. every morning. They have 8 desert tortoises that they treat like royalty. They put them out in their playpen during nice days and keep them warm when it gets cool. The pool, hot tub, and recreation room are always clean and well kept. The east side of the Sierra Nevada are very close and we got great photos. Also, the Alabama Hills are right outside of town and the rock climbing, photography and arch-hunting are great.

This is a beautiful park, well landscaped and clean with great views of the Mt. Whitney area of the Sierra Nevada. My only complaint, and its a big one, is that the sites are very narrow. We could barely maneuver outside of our door. We were constantly tripping over the tree, the picnic table our our neighbors hook ups. The sites are narrow and although the campground was 1/2 empty, almost all of the rigs there were stacked together instead of spreading them out to allow everyone more room. If I were to stay here again I would insist on a site with more room. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Easy check in. Got propane easily upon check in. This park is shady and cozy! We were here in unreal hot weather. People seemed to be enjoying the pool and the clubhouse a lot! Great free WiFi and their cable system has about 8 channels (all major networks) Sites were mostly level, you should have some "legos" just in case though. Tips for other Campers:

Lone Pine is just a stones throw up the road. Check out the Whitney Portal Store, as they serve a huge breakfast pancake and huge burgers too! Easy drive to Mammoth Lakes. Also, try Jacks's in Bishop for a great meal and also don't forget Schatt's Bakery!

Stayed for two nights and were impressed with the setting and work done by the owners to ensure a good experience in this desert setting. By far the nicest RV park since leaving Reno. Problem with cablevision and within 15 minuites of being informed service man to diagnose and correct the problem. Pool and hot tub enjoyable and they offer homemade muffins in the morning. Wifi worked flawlessly without any drops. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice park south of town about 2 miles or so. Be careful of GPS if you use that to get there. It'll send you on wild goose chase. Nice store with all the basics. Odd thing is laundry is only 3 washers for a pretty large park. Overall clean welcome park in Owens Valley. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

A very nice park. The facilities were excellent, pool , spa, lodge, etc! The store was well stocked and the souvenirs were reasonable too. This park has something for everyone, the muffins and coffee in the morning are a nice touch. We stayed here in our Casita, but the spaces seemed quite roomy, even for the largest motor home. We certainly recommend it and the staff was very nice. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Great place! Friendly, helpful staff, all sites were clean, level and most with full hook ups, including cable. We LOVED that this place is dog friendly, with a safe, shady, fenced in dog run (with water and pick up bags). They have a well stocked store, a nice club house with free coffee and muffins in the morning and tea/lemonade and cookies in the afternoon. Very nice pool and hot tub. Very reasonable rates. Highly recommend Boulder Creek. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
