A reliable stop for traveling along US-395. This make a good base for exploring the area around Lone Pine, CA. Pull-through sites long enough for our motorhome plus towed car. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Nice park, easy access to the Alabama Hills where a lot of westerns were filmed, just down the road from the Film History Museum, interesting place for "vintage" visitors - lots of memorabilia from movies and TV shows - they even have a few pairs of Roy Rogers' pistols. Stayed a week, very quiet until the weekend when the pool and spa turned into kiddie pools. I always thought hot tubs weren't healthy for kids but there is no minimum age posted for the spa like there are in so many other places I've been. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We would definitely recommend this park. It is nestled between the Eastern Sierra and Panamint Mountains, next to a large dry lake (drained to provide drinking water to Los Angeles). The sites are large and trees planted at most sites provide shade. The roads are good and the sites are level. While not paved, the desert sand is packed enough so that our motorhome sat firmly atop it. Our site comes with full hookups, a nice picnic table and plenty of room for sitting outside with even a pretty large group. Amenities include a pool, fenced off-leash dog run, playground, wifi, cable, horseshoe and basketball hoops, laundry, large clubhouse, and well stocked camp store. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

When here, do not miss the Film History Museum. It was great! The drive up Whitney Portal Road was well paved and breathtakingly beautiful.

Very much a "camping" feel to the park. Lots of trees...watch for branches as not to scratch yer rig! My only issue, I was given the shortest site on the row we were in, and the row was mostly empty the 3 nights we were there??? We are 57 foot total truck and fiver! I could have asked for another site....but made it work! I had to back out of our site the morning we left. Keeps me sharp I guess. LOL We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a solid, well-above-average RV park and the hard reality is that - if you're looking for a full-hookup site anywhere in the Owens Valley (and most definitely in the Lone Pine area of the valley) - there are not many (probably not any) better options. The park is divided into a longer-term/overflow area where the sites are a bit roomier and relatively flat, but less aesthetically pleasing; and a shorter-term area that is well-shaded with large pine trees. Like many parks in the desert southwest all of the drives are paved with asphalt while the sites themselves are hard-packed gravel. There is some slope and many of the sites, especially in the shorter-term area, will require some leveling and perhaps some squeezing to fit the bigger rigs + tow vehicles. However, overall the park is quite pleasant and the facilities are clean and well-maintained. The park is adjacent to U.S. 395 and there is some traffic noise but it is exceptionally well-screened by some of those aforementioned pine trees and that seems to do a pretty good job of blocking the highway noise (along with a clear view of the mountains to the west). The park office is in the back of what is, essentially, a well-stocked convenience store that sells a lot of basics, including a good selection of wine, beer and RV supplies. One classy touch is the seven-days-per-week provision of complimentary coffee and muffins in the roomy, pleasant community room adjacent to the store/pool/bathrooms/laundry complex. The WiFi is decent. When I first arrived users had to re-log on every 15 minutes, which was a little annoying but not unworkable because it did not require re-entering the password each time. One click got you re-connected after the initial log on. Then, mysteriously, about halfway through my stay the 15-minute log on requirement disappeared. Bottom line, by RV park standards, the WiFi is decent; sometimes slow, sometimes spotty but usually functional. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

First of all, don't be alarmed if this place comes up as Boulder Creek "Mobile Home" and RV Resort in your online search. There are no mobile homes here. However, it is not a "Resort" either. It has more of a campground feel with full hook-ups and some nice amenities - showers, laundry, pool, hot tub, horseshoe pits, and a clubhouse with tables for eating/games and a TV with some couches and rocking chairs. Free coffee and homemade muffins every morning. There is a store with lots of unique gifts, kitchen necessities, souvenirs, and a nice selection of craft beer. Propane is also for sale. The sites are pretty tight, but enough room for our slides (both sides), fully extended awning and room to enjoy the picnic table and fire ring. The sites towards the store/clubhouse are back-ins, but the rest of the park seems to be pull-throughs. Depending on your site, there are great views of Mt Whitney which look awesome at sunrise and just after sunset. It seems to be a popular pass through campground for folks on their way up or down Hwy 395. We used it as a base camp to explore the area. Overall, it is a nice quaint park with lots of outdoor options nearby. Solid 3 bars (-94 dBm) on Verizon. WiFi was pretty good, but slowed down on the weekend. We stayed for a week and that was just about right. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Try Chef Judy's excellent Chinese cuisine at the Merry-Go-Round restaurant in the town of Lone Pine. Great hikes can be found at Whitney Portal (you need a permit to go past Lone Pine Lake - which is a long hike itself), Horseshoe Meadow and Cottonwood Lake. The Alabama Hills are only a couple of miles away and pretty amazing. Lone Pine is a small town but has all the necessities - grocery store, hardware store, post office, saloon (beer & wine only) and a few restaurants.

Been coming to this park for years. It is suffering from lack of tree trimming. Trees that were small years ago have grown and are not being trimmed. Many sites have branches so close that they touch your slides and it is impossible to open an awning. One tree in our site was covered with large thorns. On the positive side, the location is perfect for southern Eastern Sierra exploring. Free muffins and coffee in the morning and the pool is nice-could be warmer though. Very quiet unless you are in a site close to Hwy 395. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

A trip up to Whitney Portals is worth the drive for a picnic at a pretty trout pond and creek cascade coming down the mountain. Make sure not to ride your brakes on the way back down.

This is a large park. Our site was not level, fairly small (for our 19-ft travel trailer), and close to our neighbor. But talk about a spectacular view of the Sierras to the West! The park is relatively quiet at night with some truck traffic on the adjacent US395. The bathrooms/showers were not that great and could use some work. There was no heat and it was pretty cold when we were there (the end of April). The park is close to restaurants in Lone Pine and to the Mt. Whitney Portal Road (turn west at the only stop light in Lone Pine). The Portal Road provides some spectacular views of the mountains. We would stay here again. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We have been here several times and love the place. Except for a bad experience with one very rude and mis-informed desk person, we had a good visit. We camped with our RV Club. The sites are spacious, the pool is sparkling and the place is clean. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lone Pine is at the base of Mt. Whitney, and has a few interesting shops and some great restaurants including Season's Dinner House, and Alabama Hills Cafe. Manzanita, a museum to the Japanese people who were interned during WWII is nine miles north. There are lots of high desert sights and a film museum.

This is a nice campground although some of the front desk staff have less than great customer service skills. The campground was nearly empty so we requested a site further back than they initially gave us. They seem to want to issue sites that are next to each other rather than spreading folks out a bit. Utilities were fine. Interior roads are paved and large enough for big rigs. Verizon signal was a couple of bars. They have bulk propane for sale on site. We used the campground for full hookups a couple times in January as we explored the Eastern Sierra and used the BLM campgrounds for our primary stay. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Easy in/out, friendly, efficient staff. Had an issue with the power and they came quickly to resolve our problem. For our troubles, they brought us two bottles of wine which we thought was very nice. Downside of park is sites are mostly dirt with some small gravel. Also, large dog park that was dirt. Hard to keep everything (and everyone) clean. Small pool looked nice but we did not use. 4 miles so to Lone Pine. Drove to Whitney Portal where the hikers start the trek to top of Mt. Whitney. Beautiful waterfall within a few yards of parking lot. Also, small store and grill. Drive thru the Alabama Hills with great rock formations. Many movies filmed in the area.

More of a camping atmosphere than most RV parks. Campfires permitted at site. All sites are sand with no gravel or patio. Dog run is gigantic but there is only one. When making reservations, we expressed we might want to stay a week but only booked for one as we weren't sure. When we arrived, we were told if we wanted to stay a week we would probably have to move to different sites and our one night would not count toward a week with a free night. Almost felt like they discouraged us from staying more than one night. If in the area, we would stay again but would surely book for exactly what we would want. Stayed 2 nights. Great location, just a few miles south of Lone Pine. Park was busy, almost full every night, and well kept. Spaces are very close to each other.

Check in was smooth. Good value for price. Staff friendly. Nice showers, but a bit of a challenge to get to if you're disabled. Have to go to the front of the park, right outside the business entrance, then walk down a narrow walkway that is elevated from the road. There is a very wide and heavy iron or steel screen door that must be opened to get into the shower/bathroom area. I found it a bit difficult while trying to steer my walker.

Would stay again for sure. We camped at Boulder Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.
