Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We didn't pay, but $22 per night is the current rate. We didn't stay at this campground, but we did drive through it in our car to see if it would be a possibility for our 40' motor home. We determined the person's "CAUTION" review to be quite accurate. The roads are narrow and the turns are tight. The campground is down in a hole. There is no Verizon coverage. The campground is fine for smaller RV's. There is a sign at the campground that states it's an active bear area. We camped at Lone Pine Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

CAUTION! The Reservations.gov site lists some sites can accommodate a 40' RV. There is even a Pull-Thru that we reserved that was long enough but had a 2' decline in 40'. The issue with this campground is the road and the rocks they placed next to it. It is extremely tight and you will be lucky to get through without damage. Don't tow anything and don't get here at night. Forest Service CC, clean and great for tents or small RV <30'. Stream to fish and miles of mountain trails. Next to Mt. Whitney in the Sierras. We camped at Lone Pine Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a basic, Forest Service campground. Each site has a relatively flat, paved parking pad, a well kept picnic table, a bear box for food storage, a fire pit, and a BBQ. There is relatively little shade. (This wasn't a problem in early June, but it could be in July or August.) The sites were very spacious and well set up. Dogs are welcome, but be aware that there are rattlesnakes in the area. There are a number of bear proof garbage containers in the campground, and a recycling center for glass, plastic, and cans near the entrance. The best part of this campground is the excellent view of Mt. Whitney and the High Sierras. There is also a trail leading from the campground to Whitney Portal. We were absolutely enchanted by this little gem. We hope to be able to stay here again. We camped at Lone Pine Campground in a Motorhome.
