This place is no where near worth $45. We were going to stay 3 days and told them we needed to leave and they said ok. You only get 30 amps. Girl told my DH we could check out at 2pm. Guy on golf cart came by at 1:30 and said I am going to charge you another day, you are suppose to be out at 12noon. We explained and he didn't care, told us to get going as someone else desired our space. There were 14 spaces open on each side of us but these people wanted ours cause we had a newer picnic tab. Nothing between spaces, no grass, no concrete....all dirt. They show picture on website but I think it is a picture they found on the website and use as there is no place even close to it. They tell you that you can use the beach and dogs are allowed on it but you have to hike uphill through the whole RV park, past the fish cleaning station, past the office, cross the main road and then to the beach. Almost impossible to navigate getting out of space. You have to come within a matchbook of hitting the permanent residents picket fence to turn out and clear the fire ring, picnic table and garbage cans. Our slides when open were literately 7 inches from our neighbors slide, my DH measured it. We camped at Caspar Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 6 days. Our group consisted of six RVs and one tent camper. The tent site was spacious and somewhat secluded. RV sites were barely large enough for RVs. Almost all surfaces are dirt. Park staff did not assist with parking unless requested. We observed at least 4 units that collided with site markers, a fire pit, and a fence. Getting into many sites requires multiple spotters. Large motor homes created a challenge for all but the most accessible sites, and very skillful drivers.

Utilities were functional but in need of repair or upgrades. Threads stripped on the sewage attachment. Weight required on sewage hose to prevent leakage.

Our electrical box was rusted from sitting in puddles created by leaking faucets. Voltage dropped to 104 volts when the park was full. No one in our group had problems with incorrect or faulty wiring or high voltage. Use a surge (and low voltage) protector and ensure circuit breakers are open when making connections.

The campground store was very well stocked with food, camping supplies, and RV supplies. Prices were reasonable. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The name RV Park and Campground is very accurate. This is not an RV resort but a campground that accommodates RVs. There is ocean access across the street in easy walking distance. Scuba divers, abalone divers, snorkelers, kayakers, and surfers can all access the ocean by walking from the campground. The store rents good quality kayaks. The campground is very busy, active and noisy during the day. Nights are quiet and staff will enforce quiet hours if needed.

Mendocino is a short drive away. For Bragg is about 15 minutes away.

I will definitely stay here again. We camped at Caspar Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit the Mendocino Headlands (free) and the town of Mendocino (excellent food).

Fort Bragg has many very good restaurants in the harbor and downtown area. Try Eggheads for breakfast.

We tent-camped here 20 years ago and loved the tent sites - secluded, private, very green, spacious. Beautiful. This time we were in a travel trailer and it wasn't so great. The vehicle camping area is incredibly crowded - it took the help of two other guys to get us into our VERY narrow space. We couldn't put out our awning because we were about 5' from our neighbor on one side and 8' on the other. No room for the picnic table, either. Fortunately, our neighbors were pleasant people who turned down the music when we asked. But camping in a parking lot is not what we had in mind. If our neighbors hadn't been so friendly, we wouldn't have had room for our truck - as it was, we had to park on the diagonal. The store is reasonably well stocked and the staff are very friendly. We love that you can walk to the beach in five minutes and drive to Mendocino or Ft. Bragg in ten. But we probably won't be back - it looked like our local RV dealer's parking lot. Highly recommended for tenters, though - you won't find a nicer place. We camped at Caspar Beach RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Stay away from this place!! It's the worse RV park we've ever been to and we've been to many.

We were so close to our neighbors that our slides couldn't open full!!!!! (We have 5th wheel 3 slides).

The bathrooms showers are what you'll expect to have on a beach, there's nothing of a "resort" in this place.

This cannot be a good Sam Club RV park, we thought we could trust it but it's really bad. It's all dirt and sand, their entrance is looking nice with grass and flowers but the park is run down. We camped at Caspar Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Definitely should look at the spaces before you book. They are VERY close together. There is no vehicle discipline in the park. There were so many vehicles parked on the street we couldn't back in. We had to move to Wesport, sister site to Casper. They told us they would refund our money for Casper but of course they didn't. I would never stay here again. We camped at Caspar Beach RV Park in a Tent Trailer.

We stayed here because it has access to Caspar Beach. W&E sites were very short with bark mulch base. We felt our 24' MH wouldn't fit or be level so we had to upgrade to a full hookup site. A substitute person was at registration. She was friendly but didn't seem to know what she was doing. They are "dog friendly" but charge per dog. It must be to pay for all of the poo bag stations. Sites were very close together. I'm glad it was mid-week and off season. This park only gets a 6 because of the neighbouring beach. We won't stay here again. I loved staying here. The ladies are nice at the store and they have a very nice abalone cleaning station, if you're a diver. I've stayed a few times now and the grounds are pretty nice. Each site was fenced off with a small fence that gave you a little privacy and the firepits are always nice. The beach is a short walk away and the convenience store they run has a lot of good things. One thing I really enjoy about this campground is it's quite far separated from the main road, making you feel like you're really in a rural area. The only knock is one time we stayed, they started weed-whacking some overgrown weeds around the wooden fencing at 8 or 9 am. We were literally the only camper in the site, all the way in the back, and she decides to fire up this weed whacker about 20 ft from us. I forgive them, though, and will come back again. We camped at Caspar Beach RV Park in a Tent.

Very tight spots. Some of the road is one lane and could use a mirror to see if anyone coming before turning down into campsites or pulling out. Restrooms were clean. Showers were coin operated (did not use). Give it a plus for short walking distance to beach (walked down for sunset). Quiet time is supposedly 10 p.m. but neighbors were noisy for a couple hours after. Will probably not stay here again. We camped at Caspar Beach RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Although this park is near a beautiful cove on the ocean (calm enough for kayaking), the park itself is very crowded. The sites are very close together (our slide out was within 6 inches of our neighbor) and not that level. The personnel were friendly and helpful. It was a good base to tour the area of Mendocino and Fort Bragg (be sure to check out the Skunk Train) but I doubt we would camp here again. We camped at Caspar Beach RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed one night at this park. The sites are very close together and access for large RVs is not easy. The wi-fi was spotty. The laundry room had three washers and dryers and was expensive compared to other RV parks. The staff was friendly. The park was across the street from the beach, not on the beach. We would not stay here again. We camped at Caspar Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We have stayed here about a dozen times over the past 5 years (family in the area). It is the best park in the area. That said, it is going downhill. We last stayed here in June 2012 and now (October 2012) the park is noticeably less maintained, less clean, and less appealing. It looks like a change in ownership / management with no one really taking care of things. Trash containers without lids, debris in the park, etc. We really did like this park and have rated it highly in the past. I really hate to see it go downhill. We camped at Caspar Beach RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We feel as though we were mislead by the website. It shows beautiful sites with grass and spacious vistas. Wrong! It was packed with barely enough room between RVs. It was also dirty and loud. The only redeeming feature was the beach directly across the road from the park. We will never visit this park again. We camped at Caspar Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Not a bad campground. Very busy, but it is summer and it is right by the beach in California. Lots of friendly families, everyone respectful. Has tight sites but otherwise a great place to stay . We will visit again. We camped at Caspar Beach RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This RV park is great for groups (such as ours) where a bunch of people can reserve way in advance and take out all the long sites closest to the front of the park. Then we set up about 4 tables and feed 24 to 30 on abalone every night. Electrical is iffy sometimes, and some had trouble keeping breakers from breaking. Have stayed here for 7 years in a row with 6 or 7 sites taken yearly. Great times, and staff is friendly and efficient. Could use some upgrading, but a great place from which to explore. Convenient location between Mendocino and Fort Bragg. We camped at Caspar Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We camped here over the new year's holiday and it wasn't that busy. We had some rain & some gorgeous sun but this place was pretty wet nonetheless. The location cannot be beat as it is directly across from the beach and Mendo & Fort Bragg are both a few miles away. I would agree that this place is not for big rigs as the spots are really tight. We have a 27ft Class C with no slides, but no one was on either side of us so it was great. All utilities worked great, including Wi-Fi, but cell service was very spotty. I would definitely come back here in the fall/winter/spring but in summer I bet it is too crowded. We camped at Caspar Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.
