Despite high rate (including 1 child), the campground was clean, easy to find and spacious. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

While still nearly an hour from Yosemite Valley, it is one of the closer campgrounds to Yosemite from the El Portal entrance. The campground was great and most of the folks were friendly and easy to work with. The sites are fairly level, but were a bit tricky to get in and out of. I guess that is somewhat to be expected when in the mountains, though. We did not get any AT&T service at the campground. The wifi was just ok and that was only when the campground wasn't completely full. We felt it to be a bit overpriced, but overall it's a good campground. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Travel Trailer.

The Happy Burger restaurant in Mariposa has a big menu and great wifi. We went there several times to get some food and work online. The Pioneer Market is a fabulous grocery store with reasonable prices.

The office people are the nicest. There is a nice pool. Lots of cabins. The interior roads are not easy but doable in our 41 foot motorhome. Lots of rental RVs. No grass but there is a dog park; not the best but not the worst I have seen. The hookups were well placed & the site is relatively level. They provide cable. Some sites are open to satellite. Ours was. The WiFi worked okay given that it was so crowded when we were here.

We had no AT&T cell signal at the campground or surrounding area. If you go into the town of Mariposa, about 7 miles away you get a sometimes workable but weak signal. Take the 45 minute trip to Oakhurst (take hwy 140 to hwy 49, not the winding shortcut of Triangle Rd) and cell service is fine. There are lots of restaurants in Mariposa. The campground office offers pizza (we didn't try) and fudge and ice cream. We did try the last two, yum. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This campground is approximately 30 miles from the entrance to Yosemite on Hwy 140. Unfortunately, there was a rock slide a few days before we arrived, closing that entrance. We had to go all the way around through the town of Oakhurst; a little less than a 2 hour trip at 7 AM. It would be longer later in the day or on the weekend.

Happy Burger-fast food restaurant with an extensive menu. Food ordered at the counter and brought to you. Dine with your dog at a picnic table outside. The Sugar Pine Cafe - small place with waitress service. Food was good. At $18.50, food was okay. Order and pay at the bar, food is brought to you. Silverware and paper napkins in containers at table. All fine for lunch but dinner prices ranged up to $33. I expect more service for those prices.

Our site was small and a little hard to get into. Overall the park is great and very close to Yosemite entrance (about a 1 hour drive). The staff weren't overly friendly and having to push the shower water button every 14 seconds was annoying. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Pricey but convenient/close to Yosemite. Had great amenities but the wifi and cable was terrible. No connectivity if you have AT&T. Clean restrooms. Lots are very close and offer some shade. Site surface is gravel and features a picnic table. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Nice clean park. Very tight and situated on the side of a hill and a little tight for our 35 ft motor home but manageable. We had a pull through site that was decently level. There are not a lot of pull through sites for big rigs so book early. Sites are narrow but well shaded. We have four kids and they enjoyed the play ground one afternoon. At the camp entrance is a YART bus stop that takes you into the Yosemite for $12 per round trip per adult. The bathrooms and showers are clean and well kept. I was annoyed that the shower was one of those push button ones that only stay on for a minute. So you have to keep pushing the stupid button. For $99 a night let me run the water the whole time for crying out loud! I only dealt with the staff briefly and a bit of a smile would of been nice. Otherwise the park worked well for our family and as well kept and clean. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Motorhome.

This KOA works well for a Yosemite visit when you can't reserve inside the park since those sites sell out instantly. Just walk down to the campground entrance and the reasonably-priced YARTS bus takes you into Yosemite Valley, with no need to hassle with parking (schedules available in the office). Easy return trips available, too. We were tired after our day spent in the park, and enjoyed the convenience of a KOA-made hot pizza. The laundry and bathroom facilities were larger and cleaner than found in many campgrounds. We were glad we reserved well in advance because the campground was full and the National Park was jam-packed. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Motorhome.

The campground is nice, but the staff gave us a hard time while checking in. We had a reservation which clearly states that we were travelling in the van, but the lady behind the counter continued asking us of what kind of van it was, was it rented and other inappropriate questions. She then went to the office and talked to someone there. In the end they assigned us a site. We will never stay there again. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Truck Camper.

We intended to stay here four nights while we visited nearby Yosemite National Park. We didn't get to stay one night because the co-owner evicted us for being rude to the other co-owner (I wasn't). It's a long story, but basically, I was unable to verify power quality at my site due to a faulty outlet at the pedestal. The co-owner insisted the power was fine and came up with all kinds of excuses as to why he didn't need to fix it and couldn't properly test it to my satisfaction. I went to the office to report his behavior but in the back office he explained the situation to the other co-owner who then angrily came out to the front desk and directed the cashier to "cash him (me) out", that is, give me my money back and kick me out of the park. Very rude people. It was after 8:00 PM as we headed back to Mariposa to look for a place to stay. Never going back to this KOA. The co-owners have a very bad attitude and do not understand the concept of customer service or power quality. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Motorhome.

Mariposa is a small, quiet town but has all the essential services a camper would need, e.g., drug store, large grocery store, laundromat, car wash, restaurants, Visitor Center, churches, auto repair, hardware store, etc.

Restroom and laundry were very dirty. Hair everywhere and dirt on the floor. Their restroom has timed lights and shower heads. If you are in the restroom taking a shower and you didn't turn the timer on when you went in - you are in the complete dark, in the shower! You have to hit the shower button every 15-20 seconds to get luke warm/cold water. Highest price we paid out of 20 RV parks in 30 days and it was the worst.

They have arrows pointing up AND down the road - but say it is "one way" and it is very confusing. Very tight to back into sights. Make sure you have good shoes to walk up the very steep hill to the bathroom and laundry. It is over 250 steps from site 10. Also, read the small print before staying here. If you change anything less than 48 hrs before you get there on your reservation - even take a day off and give them 48 hrs notice - you lose your money. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Motorhome.

Friendly, helpful staff. Nicely stocked camp store with homemade fudge and pizzas made to order. The roads were narrow though paved which was good on this mostly hilly campus. Sites were adequate but close together. Many trees which affected our Satellite signal though some others were open to the sky. Cable TV worked pretty well. Some cell services were just completely out of luck. And the wifi was functional but not as good as it could be. Frequently dropped connections and could not get back on for hours. We were there to see Yosemite. It is the closest full hookup campground to the west entrance. 25 miles into the park but not a bad drive. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There's nothing else in the area. Bring ALL your provisions and perhaps some DVD's and games. Electronic connectivity is just on & off. Most likely you're there to go see Yosemite and want a full hookup cg. This meets that need. The cg was clean and the staff was very nice. Not a children-friendly campground. Did not see any playground equipment and the roads are narrow and the sites are close together. To go to Yosemite I would stay again.

This is a typical KOA: little expensive, great location, clean, accommodating all comers. The road to the office is steep and narrow, the sites are gravel and dirt. The office is friendly and efficient. The store is well stocked with groceries and memorabilia. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Starting with the phone call for a reservation, and continuing when we checked in, the employees have an attitude. Then when the WiFi wouldn't connect (it's Tengo, the worst service on the planet), their attitude was "well, it works on my phone." Many of their cable connection are male (should be female). At the office, they have double female adapters, if you ask for one. Sites are not level, and roads are narrow. To register, you have to drive to the back of the park, register, then turn around and go to your site (which you passed on the way in). They only recycle plastic bottles and aluminum cans. Other than that, the facility is nice. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Great place to stay to see Yosemite National Park. Front staff very friendly!
Very nicely landscaped and nicely layed out.
Rock drives and had to do some leveling.
Will definitely return. Very safe area and close to a nice town with shops and restaurants.
We were in a 35' motorhome with tow and had a pull through spot. Wifi worked great too! Picnic table and grill at each site. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Motorhome.

While another overpriced KOA, this one is the nicest/best value we've stayed. Sites are gravel, well-placed and level. Service/staff was good, and as previously mentioned, the entrance is a bit quirky - uphill, circle right around a tree, and back downhill to your RV site. WiFi worked well, albeit slow in the evenings; but that seems to be the norm at most parks. If you have a big rig and plan to visit Yosemite, this campground is a good option, as you will unlikely find anything suitable in the NP. KOA to Yosemite Village is 37 miles -- about an hour. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
