We parked here to visit the Humbolt Redwoods State Park. This RV park is located right on Avenue of the Giants, a scenic roadway that runs through the park. We had a pull-through site with water, sewer, cable and 50amp electric. We used the cable since trees blocked our satellite reception. Park driveways and site pads are gravel. The bathrooms are clean and in good condition. There is WiFi that generally worked well. The staff were friendly and helpful. When we were there we experienced very rainy weather and the RV park has areas that retain quite a bit of water. Also, the street used to access the park is seriously potholed with standing water. We paid $45.90 per night with Good Sam discount. We camped at Giant Redwoods RV & Camp in a Motorhome.

Needs lots of cleanup and work. Rv dump was inop dont know why. No one working on it while were there. Never answered their phone when called. Received one call back. Didnt provide the site requested till after i was all set up. Off season stay so lots of time to do things. Two sites surrounded by junk so that added to the low grade. We wont be back. We had a pull through site and the site was clean and maintained. The campground is right on the river and it was really pretty. We got there after the office closed and we really liked how organized the after hours check in was set up. Pre-made envelopes for each available site. The main reason for only a 7 rating was that it looked like they had a number of permanent residents and those areas looked trashy and it really brought down they whole look of the campground. We camped at Giant Redwoods RV & Camp in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very small campground. There are Redwoods but not very many. We stayed in site 44 which according to the manager was the most requested spot. Behind us was 3 trailers that were permanent residents. One of them was a little strange. The park itself was nice but the spaces were very close together. The first night we were there we had a space between us and the other trailer. But the next two nights we had a trailer that when they put their slide out was almost touching our picnic table. The cable had 25 channels with poor to good reception. The park managers are very animal friendly. We could not take our dogs down to the Eel River due to algae. We wanted to dump before we left but the dump station was not operational. Their alternative was an unused full hook up site but our hose wasn't long enough. Overall we had a nice stay but we will look for other campgrounds with more space between sites. This seems to be an older park but not too bad. I would go back but my husband doesn't think so. We camped at Giant Redwoods RV & Camp in a Travel Trailer.

A little pricey for tent camping, but it ended up being worth it. The location is perfect...right off of Avenue of the Giants! Lots of beautiful redwoods and the river ran right behind the tent sites. The kids loved it! Bathrooms were clean and the playground was a plus. Good wi-fi. We camped at Giant Redwoods RV & Camp in a Tent.

Check in was good, roads dusty due to lack of rain and grass neeeded watering. Having some "drain field" issues so we limited water use. Good reception on satellite. We camped at Giant Redwoods RV & Camp in a Motorhome.

Pretty park in the redwoods. Rustic in a nice way. Awesome swimming hole on the south fork of the Eel river. Nice children's play area and off-leash dog park. Friendly staff. Some renovations under way. We would stay there again. They have a $2 dollar per night fee for more than one dog. I felt the rate was a bit high for amenities. Wi-Fi is free but very slow and primarily for checking email. Cell signal was intermittent at our site, not sure about the rest of the park. We camped at Giant Redwoods RV & Camp in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We visited Redwoods RV in early December, obviously the off season. We always research parks on our intended route and this was no exception. Being full time RVers, we have found that a little investigation is worth the effort. But we were surprised the pictures on the website were not indicative of the park. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I believe they are systematically upgrading things, but they do have their work cut out for them. With that said, it is a pretty setting, and proximity to Avenue of the Giants is great. WIFI was above average, 200mbs free per day, then $5 for one gig if you need more. Good news is that prevents everyone from streaming and causing the speeds to crash for all. The immeadiate area around the park was questionable, but it was quiet and there were no safety concerns. We stayed in a 38 ft fifth wheel. We camped at Giant Redwoods RV & Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

Over all this place wasn't awful - it was a bit hard to get to and it wasn't easy to navigate. The site was fine but there were a few things that were troublesome.

They did not enforce the dogs on a leash rule, and our pups were charged by two dogs that were off leash. Secondly, the bathrooms were filthy and at one point both women's toilets were clogged and backed up and no one came to fix them.

The wifi is RIDICULOUS. They state FREE wifi, however it's only free for the first 100mb then it's $20 for 5 gigabytes of data use. That's extreme, we've run into a couple "pay" wifi places and they were only $3 to $5 without a limit. So be ready to fork out a ton of cash for wifi access. We love the location, right on the Eel River, so you can jump in any time. The sites are spacious and some of them are shady - the ones that don't look shady usually get shade in the afternoon because there are plenty of trees. The weather was over 100*, but there's a lovely cooling breeze from the river, so we were comfortable. Each roomy site has a picnic table and a fire ring with a grille, so we could cook and there was plenty of room for our truck. Lots of tent sites around the perimeter. Full hookups are available, but we had water and power but no sewer. The dump station is handy and has a hose attached, and everyone was very friendly. Gravel sites. The store is barely a store at all, but does have ice, decent wines, and beers, and the one in town, 1/4 mile away, is hardly better, so come prepared. Very handy to the Avenue of the Giants. Friendly staff, but they need to revise their WiFi policy - you get a small amount of bandwidth with your site, but 1 gig extra is $5 and 5 gigs is $20 extra, and it's for ONE device. So you can't use more than one device while there. You need to shut down the WiFi every time you stop using it. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but next time we'll be more fully prepared so we don't need to buy anything. We camped at Giant Redwoods RV & Camp in a Travel Trailer.

I believed the photos of the park, so when we arrived I was at first very disappointed. I expected to park under redwoods and sit by a river...OOPS! The park was nice, but there are really only a few large trees. The river is a large gravel bar with a few small wading pools. Our site was huge with plenty of room to spread out and it was under the alder and birch trees. It was dusty and dry, but it's August. The check-in was friendly and provided all the info we needed. So, I guess if I hadn't had higher hopes for the place I would have rated it higher, but the expectations from the website led me to believe we were camping in the big trees which was what I really wanted to be doing! My mistake. We camped at Giant Redwoods RV & Camp in a Motorhome.

This was an average park that was more of a campground than an RV park. Lots of tents and loud people who also liked loud music. Dirt/weedy sites with not a lot of amenities. Our Verizon Home Connect phone worked, but not AT&T cell phones. We could not get a good signal through their cable, so we set up our satellite which we were amazingly able to get through the trees. All in all, the people were very nice, but we would probably try another park if we were to come through this area again. We camped at Giant Redwoods RV & Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

We were there for a week. If you like river recreational activities and/or want a central location to visit the area, this campground will meet your needs. Management enforces noise restrictions after 10pm, which we like - even though we were the noisy ones! Office/store is small, minimally stocked. The grounds are well kept. A small grocery store is just a quarter mile away. I would stay there if I had occassion to visit the area again. We camped at Giant Redwoods RV & Camp in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Located in the middle of Avenue of the Giants. Ferndale and Fortuna are close enough for day trips. Recommend visit to Benbow Inn for lunch or dinner - about 15 min south. Eel river is about 100 yards away. Other campers said Eel River water was warm, and the swimming hole was fun.

It is obvious this park was very old BUT very well kept ( and really well laid out when new!). Pride in hosts and owners shown thru. A bit tricky maneuvering but would fit any rig. Most would say odd layout and if this were new park I would agree, as it is older I say well used land area. Great firewood and campfire available. Use of items like fishing poles, horse shoes, etc were free and easy. Laundry only had two machines, but at least there was one! Easy access to river. Great hidden gem.....GREAT place for the Humboldt Redwood Forest. We camped at Giant Redwoods RV & Camp in a Motorhome.
