This is a slice of Route 66 history. The park is adjacent to a vintage Mother Road motel that has changed little in outward appearance since it was first built. The park is small, kind of tight spaces, but is in a beautiful location right on the Colorado River. There are two levels for RV, one next to the river and one up higher and farther away. Over the years we have stayed at both levels. There are a couple viewing areas looking down on the river where you can watch boats, look for fish or be buzzed by hummingbirds. It's all very pleasant. It is not an upscale place so it probably isn't something for high enders, but for us it is clean, friendly and a good spot for an overnight or short stay. We camped at Fender's River Road Resort in a Motorhome.

There isn't a lot to do in Needles, so sit on the deck, chat with the neighbors, watch the bats at night and enjoy the sunset colors on the Colorado.

Park has the river view going for it. There are no rules so anyone can work on vehicles with power tools at any time . Lots of nightly and early morning noise coming from mostly the hired help. River sites sloped toward river so one has to jack up the wheels and use lots of blocks to level. sewer hose runs uphill making it almost impossible to dump. Will not visit again. Too bad. This park has potential. We camped at Fender's River Road Resort in a Motorhome.

Rosie, owner and manager is friendly and great to work with. We loved our time on the two patios overlooking the Colorado river. This campground is right on old Route 66 and has a retro feel to it. We stayed one night and would stay again. Great value. We camped at Fender's River Road Resort in a Motorhome.

Friendly staff. Small park that is well maintained. Pull thru, gravel site with F/H. Palm trees at site. Not much of a view at top (ok for overnight stay -motel located at top level), but beautiful view lower lever next to Colorado River. Nice laundry room and restrooms, showers needed some attention (did not use). Would recommend for overnight stay. We camped at Fender's River Road Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This a small park with a motel. There are about 6-7 pull through sites near the entrance. Word of caution, these sites require you to be close to the motel to pull through your site. No problem early in the day, but if you are coming in later, like after 4pm, it could be difficult getting into your spot because of the cars that will park in front of their motel rooms. Also there are about 6 sites right down on the Colorado river that have a very nice view. Not big rig friendly though. We enjoyed this little park and would stay again. We camped at Fender's River Road Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

The park is delightful if you can get one of the 7 sites (all pull-in for motorhomes) right on the river. We felt they were worth the effort. Those sites are sloped; ours required 4-high 2x6 boards under front wheels of our 40' rig, plus 8" blocks under front jacks. They had the wood. Your neighbors are cheek-by-jowl, but you have a nice grass area in front from which to watch the Colorado River flow by--and you have an even better view out your windshield. Loved it. The sites up top have no real view and it is a large gravel lot, quite level. But you can walk down to either the small floating dock or the 2-level patios (you could stay dry during a storm or out of the sun on hot days on the lower level). Take your chair & beverage. There are a few long-term residents in the park, but none gave us the "junky" feel we've often experienced elsewhere. The owner and the gal who manages the park are fun and helpful as well. As far as noise goes, only the occasional loud boat on the water interrupted the overall serenity. For any real shopping you'll have to drive a good 15 miles into AZ to a Safeway or Walmart. Fuel is much cheaper in AZ too. We camped at Fender's River Road Resort in a Motorhome.

Don't get gas in Needles! It's a dollar fifty cheaper just over the river.

This is an older place overlooking the river. You can get a site on the grass which looks right at the river, I think they are a bit more in cost. You drive straight down to the site, it is not a back in, depending on your length (5th wheel only) you may not have to unhook. You have to unhook if you have a tow so you can back out and turn around your rig when leaving. The sites at the motel/office are on asphalt/gravel and nothing special. We chose the grass site #8, beautiful views and luckily there was no one on either side of us because it would have been very close. I did use the laundry room 6 washers, 3 worked...5 dryers, 2 worked. I did use the shower, not good, very very old and small stall in the bathroom (individual), mine had a hole in the plastic wall with a "band aid" on it saying ouch! Septic smells were around in laundry/bath area. We stayed for 2 nights to rest up before heading home. It was nice to sit out on the grass and dogs enjoyed it. There are sites being used by full timers. Staff was nice, no wifi unless up top by office, we used the wifi at the campground next door which was very spotty, TV on antenna. Bring your mosquito spray, they and the gnats are in full force at dusk. We camped at Fender's River Road Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The town of Needles is pretty run down but on Route 66. As others have stated if going to Arizona on the 40 wait to buy gas until you get to Love's or another station (about 20 miles) as prices are considerably cheaper than CA.

We stayed here due to the Passport America discount. Small park on the Colorado River. Mix of seasonal and overnight campers. Nice decks on the river to watch the water flow past. Sites were roomy, with nice trees for shade. Park could use some cosmetic upgrades,(peeling paint, etc) but was clean. Laundry room was very nice and efficient, and a good value. We would stay here again of traveling in this area. We camped at Fender's River Road Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This park on historic route 66 is far enough away from the freeway to be peaceful. The hosts were very accommodating, hospitable and went out of their way to make our (two) separate stays enjoyable. Best Wi-Fi is close to the office but it worked like a charm with a booster. Riverfront sites offer beautiful views of the Colorado River which are literally at your doorstep. Excellent location and management. We had a river front site for $20 rather than $14 for off river site (passport rate). They have a pot luck dinner and movie on Friday nights. Laundry very reasonably priced. Small park. We will stay here again. We camped at Fender's River Road Resort in a Motorhome.

Wonderful little park with boat ramp to the Colorado River. About one mile away from the interstate and no traffic noise. There are no train tracks near here - yeah! The manager is super. She showed us to our site which is gravel and level. The laundry is huge and spotless. The showers and restrooms are clean and up to date. I highly recommend Fender's River Road Resort for an overnight or vacation if you have a boat or wave runners. You can tell the owners and management want to make this park attractive and spotless. We will camp here again when passing this way! We camped at Fender's River Road Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at the resort for one month in January 2015. Was great we were on a site that was on the Colorado River. Staff was excellent and we met some great folks here. Weather was great! Not hot like in the summer.

Would stay again when we travel out west. The park is just off the old RT66 in Needled,CA

WiFi was available be we had to go to the office area since our site was located farther away on the river. Has laundry and wash room/showers if needed. Our full hook up worked great. We camped at Fender's River Road Resort in a Travel Trailer.
