This is a hard park to rate because it is in the process of being rebuilt. Makes sense that the owners don't want to invest in infrastructure that is going to be replaced. The location is outstanding--right on Clear Lake, close to a kids park, boat launching, restaurants. The park itself is clean and tidy, but divided by the main road, so one part fronts the lake and the other is across the road. The lakeside sites are quite small, but since we were there in low season, we were able to fit our 35' motorhome in without obstructing anyone and the view was fabulous. In high season that wouldn't be possible. The manager is very enthusiastic, friendly and helpful, so that is a big plus. The washrooms were clean, but badly need improvement (see above). The showers were probably clean, but not inviting. The wifi was pretty good, but waffled a bit. There was a games room, which we didn't use, but seemed like an asset. And there was a laundry, which we did use and was fine. We planned to stay one night, but stayed two and would definitely come back. It will be interesting to see how they rebuild. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you're coming from the West on Highway 20, access is awkward and our Garmin GPS was no help. You can't turn right from Hwy 20 onto Lakeshore. Best to turn right onto Collier, before you get to Lakeshore, then left onto Lakeshore at the bottom of the hill. Or take Carson and turn right at the bottom of the hill. Or ask for directions if you phone for a reservation. It's not a problem if you're coming from the East.

This is our second one night stay at The Aurora. We frequently travel from Oregon to San Diego to visit family, and we discovered this place in August. The setting is gorgeous on the shore of Clear Lake. We have not found the park crowded on either of our stays. Laina in the office is a gem. She is beyond helpful and has a personality that bubbles. I would have rated the park 10, except for the fact that a massive remodel is in progress and some things are in a bit of disarray. Also, the owner's policy is to make a separate charge for electricity, even for an overnight. On both of our stays, however, Laina waived that charge. Nevertheless, it is quiet and the waterfront spaces are delightful. Someday, we will come for an extended stay and experience the fishing, boating, swimming, bbq on the patio under the grape arbor, etc. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Truck Camper.

We enjoyed our stop at this rv park. It is obvious that they are working hard to spruce up the campground. ( reprinting, reroofing, raking, etc). The wifi worked ok( but not the best for Skype users). Cable tv good, their TV guide needs updating, easy access to lake ( beautiful view hills surrounding the lake), lightly travelled road, so not much traffic noise. GPS instructions rather confusing especially travelling south bound. nOTE: charges for electric over 8kwt , .25cents per kilowatt after 8kwt. We had a small heater on low and it cost $5 for the night...can't imagine costs if running a/c in the summer. Staff very accommodating, friendly and keen on any suggestions. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Grocery store near by. Restaurants short drive.

We dropped in with no reservation the manager was very courteous and friendly. We were able to park along Clear Lake with a boat ramp just a few feet away. Fishing was great and we are looking forward to returning. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Travel Trailer.

They have a Great Camp Host and always there when you need anything. I especially liked how he went out of his way to help the victims of the Valley Fire.

The Electricity was strong, the sites clean and level. Great View of Clear Lake. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

They do take PA and honored it for two nights even though we were in one of their lakefront sites since they weren't busy. So, we paid $20/night for 2 nights and $40 for for 2 more. For us, view pretty much trumps everything and site #7 has the best view of the lake. Very peaceful. Didn't use the facilities. Power, water, wifi and cable all good. There is an overhead park light right next to site 7 which attracts the rice flies (but they don't bite). People were catching crappie and bass from the shore. Park will be nicer when they are able to complete their planned improvements. Park managers are awesome and they show movies on a big screen outside on weekends. Plenty of area to walk the dog but not much grass at this time. We would return. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you have a dog and it needs grooming while in this area, go to Gina's Dapper Dog in Clearlake Oaks. She was one of the best groomers we have ever used.

Robinson Rancheria has sold this park to a private owner. The new owner has great plans, but it appears it is a slow process. The park is split into two sections, the lake side is concrete, level sites that are all (short) back-in, with connections at the rear; Across the street is level, dirt sites, with long pull-thrus or back-in, connections are in the middle of the site. Picnic tables are on the lake side, under shade trees. WiFi was intermittent, and worked great when it was running. Cable TV connections were present but not working. Park manager is in site #39 , he was friendly and informative. Restrooms are old, waiting to be remodeled. Aurora's webpage tells about most of the "pending" upgrades. It was quiet at night. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Stopped at this park on our way home from the redwoods. The man who checked us in was very nice and since there was only one other RV there, he let us park at the end spot along the lake even though our rig is 35 ft. The site was concrete, level and shaded by some large trees. These sites are so narrow I doubt if you could even put your slideouts out if there was someone next to you. There are pull thru sites across the street that have more room between sites. If it is not 100+ degrees, the sites across the street would be ok, there is just very little shade. It was fine for an overnight stay. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

This campground is indeed open; and when we drove into this little park on "Upper" Clear Lake, we immediately thought "potential". Previously owned by the Native American tribe that runs the local casinos, this park was closed for 2 years and reopened in 2015 by new owners. Licensing & inspections have held up a lot of repairs (we can vouch for California's laws). Six or seven sites are lake-front and have been nicely paved and updated but are extremely close. The remaining 50 or so are across the street from the water but several were plenty big enough for our 42' rig plus tow, where we stayed. A water-front picnic area pergola with tables looked inviting, but was soon occupied by tenters. Not sure if this is the long-term plan, but we assume they will take any customers they can get right now since there was only one other motorhome in the area where we stayed. The Marina has been removed but the pilings are still in place; boating would add another dimension. Cable had just been installed and wasn't real clear, but we had good 50 amp service, water pressure and sewer hook-up. We used more than our allotted electricity (metered) so had to pay an additional service charge which was $5 (in addition to the price above). The campground manager is very friendly and helpful and well informed of the history of this park and the surrounding area. We would love to see this place a year from now and would return if in the area. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Just a short walk from the campground is a nice city park with a large children's playground. In the other direction (also walking distance) is a small restaurant/bar with a backyard patio adjacent to the water. We walked over for a cocktail on a Saturday afternoon and were surprised to find live music on the patio (well-behaved dogs welcome). The menu looked varied and good. We were told the casino a few miles away served a great prime-rib.

ADMIN NOTE: As of April 9, 2015 we have a report that this park is open again, but to date we have no newer reviews.

CLOSED. Property is overrun with weeds and has a "For Sale" sign on it. RVPR might want to consider an option for reporting closed or defunct CGs. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

I had a reservation at this park and arrived after a long drive from Eureka, CA. There was a Closed sign up and no other information. No one called me to tell me they were closing. I called the Robinson Rancheria Indians who run the park and was told it was probably closed for the season. I wondered why my reservation was even taken if they knew the park would close for the season. Unfortunately, no one could give me an answer. I will never even attempt to stay in this park again even if they do reopen. The customer service is way beyond poor. The park itself is a bit old and rundown but has waterfront sites over looking Clearlake. There is also another section of the park on the opposite side of the road across from the lake. The sites are a little tight for a big rig, but appear to be fairly level (the ones facing the waterfront). We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

We could not camp here. There appeared to be reviews from months in the whole year but when we called for Sept. 18th or 19th overnight stay, we were given another parks number and told this park was closed and would reopen in May We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

Although on the lake, it is a very old RV park. Spots are hardly recognizable with gravel, dirt, and few trees. Not fixed up at all; weeds and unkempt property. Friendly, but overall sad. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

Called ahead for availability and was greeted by a very pleasant gentleman. I arrived on Sunday and was directed to take any spot I wanted. Chose a spot across the street from the lakefront that had shade trees and a picnic table and was very level. The staff makes every effort to maintain the grounds on a daily basis despite the heat (over 100 degrees) every day. His assistant, is also busy around the property and always has a smile on her face. There are restaurants close by, along with grocery stores and even a Casino. I really enjoyed my 2 week stay. Very quiet and laid back. I would most definitely return. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

We had a pull-through site, level, grass & dirt. Cable TV and Wifi worked great. Campground could use some fixing up, looks old and worn down. They give you a 2 for 1 buffet coupon at the casino, but no shuttle service. Quiet at night. Across the road, back-in sites were on concrete. Good for an over-nighter. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Fifth Wheel.
