We arrived early Saturday afternoon on Labor Day weekend and was greeted by a gentleman that said not to worry about paying until we left. We did have reservations. We never did register. When we got ready to leave on Tuesday morning, still could not find a manager to pay. Rate on their website said $36 a day before Good Sam discount, so taped a check to managers door and left.

It was mentioned in previous reviews about "great cable and WIFI". The cable did not work and no one at the park could explain how to make it work. WIFI was sporadic. Since we did not register and receive any instructions, had to find the original gentleman and ask for the password. We were forced to use our "Hotspot" frequently to contact family.

Not sure what the schedule for trash pick up was, but the dumpster was overflowing with more trash stacked around the dumpster. The grounds were also filthy. Our poor "four-legged" baby came back from walks with numerous burrs.

We will not return. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a Super Wal-Mart at the other end of the lake, which is quite a drive. However, this is an older Wal-Mart that has been converted to a Super Wal-Mart. The grocery section is very limited. Ray's Market across the street from Wal-Mart is quite pricey.

We had originally planned to stay here for a night on our way home from Oregon. However, once we were all setup in one of the lakefront sites, we both enjoyed the setting so much that we decided to stay an extra two days. The manager, absolutely went out of his way to make our stay comfortable.

On Friday night, they even put on a BBQ at their expense - for any of the registered guests. Only a handful of guests showed up, but I think that was because such gatherings are so uncommon these days that not everyone knew about it. Those of us who did attend had a great time. After dark, they even put on an outdoor kid-friendly movie! How often do you see that kind of staff involvement these days!

They're in the middle of doing some serious (expensive) upgrades to the park, and if the results end up being as good as the staff was friendly, it'll be amazing! We were in a 43 foot motorhome and had no problem backing into one of the waterfront sites. There was a nearby place to park our towed vehicle. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

Small campground and sites are close, but the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Restrooms were clean, full hookups (50 amp), and quiet. We'd definitely visit here again. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

We had a pull-through site, level, grass & dirt. Cable TV and WiFi worked great. Good Park improvement overall, since we camped here several years ago. Fire pit and picnic bench are located on opposite side of road near the lake. New Managers were very helpful and polite. Quiet at night. Across the road, back-in sites were on concrete. Good stop for an over-nighter. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is a bit of a disappointment. Part of the park, the lake view sites, are on concrete on one side of Lakeshore Drive, a two-lane road with a yellow line, the other half is across the road and the sites are on dead grass and dirt, which is where our site was located. WiFi was advertised but can only be accessed in the clubroom across the street. Bathrooms are okay, which are also on the other side of the street, however, the outside door lock of the women's room was not operating correctly and was not being locked. I went to the restroom at 11 pm at night it was unlocked! It was a bit scary at first. I would have been okay with it if the restrooms weren't so close to the road. It is my understanding it is under new management and they plan on making additional improvements. Most RV parks that I have been to have supplied a map of the campground, channel guide, points of interests, emergency information for pet and people hospitals, nearest grocery, pharmacy, etc., etc. Nothing was given. Washers and dryers are $2.00 each. There is a clubroom, marina is iffy, but I think that is something they are going to work on. TV channels are very limited. The pictures on their website reflects the 8 or so lake view sites, not the majority of the sites. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

There are a couple of casinos approx. 5-10 miles from the campground. If driving north from Novato, DO NOT take highway 175 as there are many curves including hairpin curves.

Rate is for extra-long pull-through (other side of the road). Plenty of room for truck, 40-ft fifth wheel and small car. Could get muddy on rainy days, but nice enough. FHU worked well. Nice and quiet, especially at night. The Campground is in two parts: one on the lake with the office and one across a minor road. No issues there. A note: it looks as though they can accommodate biggish rigs on the lakeside part (we were there during the low season and a forty-five footer managed to cram in there), but certainly not the case during busy times. It's more for smaller C-Class and B-Class rigs. Would come back. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a hard park to rate because it is in the process of being rebuilt. Makes sense that the owners don't want to invest in infrastructure that is going to be replaced. The location is outstanding--right on Clear Lake, close to a kids park, boat launching, restaurants. The park itself is clean and tidy, but divided by the main road, so one part fronts the lake and the other is across the road. The lakeside sites are quite small, but since we were there in low season, we were able to fit our 35' motorhome in without obstructing anyone and the view was fabulous. In high season that wouldn't be possible. The manager is very enthusiastic, friendly and helpful, so that is a big plus. The washrooms were clean, but badly need improvement (see above). The showers were probably clean, but not inviting. The wifi was pretty good, but waffled a bit. There was a games room, which we didn't use, but seemed like an asset. And there was a laundry, which we did use and was fine. We planned to stay one night, but stayed two and would definitely come back. It will be interesting to see how they rebuild. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you're coming from the West on Highway 20, access is awkward and our Garmin GPS was no help. You can't turn right from Hwy 20 onto Lakeshore. Best to turn right onto Collier, before you get to Lakeshore, then left onto Lakeshore at the bottom of the hill. Or take Carson and turn right at the bottom of the hill. Or ask for directions if you phone for a reservation. It's not a problem if you're coming from the East.

This is our second one night stay at The Aurora. We frequently travel from Oregon to San Diego to visit family, and we discovered this place in August. The setting is gorgeous on the shore of Clear Lake. We have not found the park crowded on either of our stays. Laina in the office is a gem. She is beyond helpful and has a personality that bubbles. I would have rated the park 10, except for the fact that a massive remodel is in progress and some things are in a bit of disarray. Also, the owner's policy is to make a separate charge for electricity, even for an overnight. On both of our stays, however, Laina waived that charge. Nevertheless, it is quiet and the waterfront spaces are delightful. Someday, we will come for an extended stay and experience the fishing, boating, swimming, bbq on the patio under the grape arbor, etc. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Truck Camper.

We enjoyed our stop at this rv park. It is obvious that they are working hard to spruce up the campground. ( reprinting, reroofing, raking, etc). The wifi worked ok( but not the best for Skype users). Cable tv good, their TV guide needs updating, easy access to lake ( beautiful view hills surrounding the lake), lightly travelled road, so not much traffic noise. GPS instructions rather confusing especially travelling south bound. nOTE: charges for electric over 8kwt , .25cents per kilowatt after 8kwt. We had a small heater on low and it cost $5 for the night...can't imagine costs if running a/c in the summer. Staff very accommodating, friendly and keen on any suggestions. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

They do take PA and honored it for two nights even though we were in one of their lakefront sites since they weren't busy. So, we paid $20/night for 2 nights and $40 for for 2 more. For us, view pretty much trumps everything and site #7 has the best view of the lake. Very peaceful. Didn't use the facilities. Power, water, wifi and cable all good. There is an overhead park light right next to site 7 which attracts the rice flies (but they don't bite). People were catching crappie and bass from the shore. Park will be nicer when they are able to complete their planned improvements. Park managers are awesome and they show movies on a big screen outside on weekends. Plenty of area to walk the dog but not much grass at this time. We would return. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

Robinson Rancheria has sold this park to a private owner. The new owner has great plans, but it appears it is a slow process. The park is split into two sections, the lake side is concrete, level sites that are all (short) back-in, with connections at the rear; Across the street is level, dirt sites, with long pull-thrus or back-in, connections are in the middle of the site. Picnic tables are on the lake side, under shade trees. WiFi was intermittent, and worked great when it was running. Cable TV connections were present but not working. Park manager is in site #39 , he was friendly and informative. Restrooms are old, waiting to be remodeled. Aurora's webpage tells about most of the "pending" upgrades. It was quiet at night. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Stopped at this park on our way home from the redwoods. The man who checked us in was very nice and since there was only one other RV there, he let us park at the end spot along the lake even though our rig is 35 ft. The site was concrete, level and shaded by some large trees. These sites are so narrow I doubt if you could even put your slideouts out if there was someone next to you. There are pull thru sites across the street that have more room between sites. If it is not 100+ degrees, the sites across the street would be ok, there is just very little shade. It was fine for an overnight stay. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

This campground is indeed open; and when we drove into this little park on "Upper" Clear Lake, we immediately thought "potential". Previously owned by the Native American tribe that runs the local casinos, this park was closed for 2 years and reopened in 2015 by new owners. Licensing & inspections have held up a lot of repairs (we can vouch for California's laws). Six or seven sites are lake-front and have been nicely paved and updated but are extremely close. The remaining 50 or so are across the street from the water but several were plenty big enough for our 42' rig plus tow, where we stayed. A water-front picnic area pergola with tables looked inviting, but was soon occupied by tenters. Not sure if this is the long-term plan, but we assume they will take any customers they can get right now since there was only one other motorhome in the area where we stayed. The Marina has been removed but the pilings are still in place; boating would add another dimension. Cable had just been installed and wasn't real clear, but we had good 50 amp service, water pressure and sewer hook-up. We used more than our allotted electricity (metered) so had to pay an additional service charge which was $5 (in addition to the price above). The campground manager is very friendly and helpful and well informed of the history of this park and the surrounding area. We would love to see this place a year from now and would return if in the area. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Just a short walk from the campground is a nice city park with a large children's playground. In the other direction (also walking distance) is a small restaurant/bar with a backyard patio adjacent to the water. We walked over for a cocktail on a Saturday afternoon and were surprised to find live music on the patio (well-behaved dogs welcome). The menu looked varied and good. We were told the casino a few miles away served a great prime-rib.
