This is the first time we stayed at Woodward since the "upgrades" to the RV sites. We camped on T-Island which is right on the lake. We have been camping here for 10+ years and this is the first time on the island as it didn't have full hookups before. Nice shady spots. We only camp during weekdays because of the chaos on the weekends.

Did not appreciate paying the service $8 for the privilige of making a reservation and did not appreciate the 4pm check in the hot part of the day. We camped at Woodward Reservoir in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Ask if your reserved spot is occupied the day you are due to arrive.

We were told if it was vacant we could check in before the 4pm time. Wish we would have know that before we stayed but will be sure to find out next time.

RV here during the summer. We like to row. This year the reservoir is so low it's like the irrigation districts are draining it. This leaves the "beaches" slimmy and algae ridden :(. Nice park otherwise. We camped at Woodward Reservoir in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $25.00

Stayed here 2 weeks while waiting for reservations at Yosemite. This is a beautiful area with a large reservoir for water recreation and hundreds of campsites and day use sites. FHU sites $25, Primitive $20. $10 off either for seniors. Virtually all sites are right on the water. We arrived on a Monday and noticed some trash around sites, but the next day it was gone. The rest of the week until Friday was wonderful and quite with less than 10% of the primitive sites occupied and most of the approx. 200 full hook up sites occupied. We stayed in a primitive site with a beautiful view of the reservoir and easy access for our kayaks.

All the good things ended on Friday when the park was overrun with thousands of campers arriving and packing the park to the gills. The weekend was wild with noise, drinking, and boats/jet skis racing around the lake. Most don't pay any attention to the 10pm quiet time and everyone just dumps their trash on the ground. By Sunday night, the entire park is a trash dump with every conceivable kind of trash on the ground including a lot of food despite the fact that there are around 100-150 large square trash dumpsters spread throughout the park. Every campsite has a dumpster located within 50 yards of the site.

We travel the US fulltime and, after a weekend, this is the trashiest campground we've encountered. It's a shame such a beautiful area like this gets trashed by the locals that come out to party and drink their weekend away. We camped at Woodward Reservoir in a Fifth Wheel.

We arrived without a reservation. The Campground directory said they didn't accept them. But, they are on reserveamerica.com. Despite the fact that there were dozens of empty sites we were told that we were lucky to get a 'walk in' site Guess all the other sites were held for possible reservations for one night ... probably not. The shower had three stalls. The handicap shower was not functioning. Another shower had a broken shower head. The remaining shower was the filthiest, dirtiest shower I have, in over 35 years of camping, ever been in. There was actually human excrement on the floor. Imagine! I reported these conditions to the park management. The polite young man said, "Yeah, we have a lot of persons at this park who make a mess of the rest rooms and showers." I'll say. The price is right, obviously. But, there are reasons for that. I spent 10 minutes picking up butts, bottle tops, and other stuff from the campsite, too. For a County-run facility this is am embarrassment. We camped at Woodward Reservoir in a Motorhome.

This regional park has prison-like stainless-steel fixtures in the restrooms and dirty shower walls, but very good water pressure in the showers. There is a nice lake adjacent. Sites are level. The $15 rate reflects a senior discount. We camped at Woodward Reservoir in a Motorhome.

Easy access, right on the lake, pet friendly, 4G MiFi. We are rating it a 5 because of its Jekyll & Hyde personality. During the week it is quiet and serene but come the weekend all hell breaks loose with hordes of people flowing in. Lots of drinking' and merriment, beer cans and party detritus everywhere. If you're into music this is the place for you with a different genre blasting from each campsite. Watch out for the RC car flying by you on your walk! Staff is friendly. When you check in peek inside the booth. You'll see lots of high tech video and communications equipment right alongside the largest collection of rubber stamps you've ever seen. They have a stamp for everything! We camped at Woodward Reservoir in a Motorhome.

Woodward Reservoir is full at this writing; so was the RV campground. Leash law was not enforced and as a result, plenty of land mines to navigate around, and flies. Mid afternoon the power was down to 110 volts (brownout). The park attendants were out in force checking camp credentials. But not leash laws. All in all this is a tremendous value for the senior, $15 a day (summer season). Sites were well spaced, but the hook-ups were at the very back, and at best a stretch (for the hose) to make things work. If you are into RC aircraft, there is a flying field just to the north around the dam, with friendly folks ready to answer questions about the hobby. We camped at Woodward Reservoir in a Motorhome.

We like Woodward Reservoir Campground. It is only 35 minutes from the house but seems a world away. The full hook-up campgrounds are great with some lakeside and some pull-throughs. The best rate around for seniors. We always go on weekdays to avoid the weekend crowds. Lots of roads to ride bicycles or walk. We camped at Woodward Reservoir in a Travel Trailer.

Woodward Reservoir has a lots of RV parking. They have full hookups for $23 or partial hookup for a smaller fee (I think it was around $3 less). The park has quite a few full-timers. We stayed there for about 2 weeks; it was nice and quiet except for one Saturday night. The locals camp out here. Pets are an additional $2 per day. No one (pets or people) is allowed in the water during the winter times. The park is a few miles out of Oakdale and about a 15-minute drive to Modesto. We didn't use the facilities as we had our own. The staff is very nice and helpful. We camped at Woodward Reservoir in a Travel Trailer.
