The biggest downside to the Bidwell Canyon campground is that the reservations are not site specific. They are first come first served. For larger rigs that limits the number of spaces significantly when travelling in a group. Upon calling, we informed the park we needed sites together for our group. They indicated they would mark our reservations as such and to just park a car on the site we wanted to save. On this particular stay, instead of quieting down noisy campers and speeding cars, the park police chose to make us move our car from the saved spot. Then, they gave away the spot closest to us to another camper. For the price being charged, system needs to be changed to allow site specific reservations.

In addition, fire ring is way to close to the allowed trailer area. Not enough room to set chairs around the fire ring. Not walking distance to the water due to drought. No AT&T reception. No TV reception. We camped at Lake Oroville SRA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at Lime Saddle State Park. It was okay at best for the money. We have stayed here in the past, but only because there is little else to choose from and in the past it was more affordable. The State of California has doubled the rates at all of their campgrounds because of the budget crisis and it is too bad that they have chosen to get it out of people who enjoy the State Park facilities. The RV sites are $40 and the tent sites are $20 which is very high for what you get. Pay showers as well. We will try to find another place to stay next time. We camped at Lake Oroville SRA in a Fifth Wheel.

State website would not allow us to make reservation online Thursday for Friday (need 24 hours in advance only) so took a chance and drove up here. They would only allow us to pay for one night and said we could "probably" stay two nights. Online reservations would have been closed down for Saturday by Friday: so gatekeeper would have known then if 2 nights available. Hello? The park was virtually empty: which even made this even more ridiculous. Last time we will stay. That silliness plus no internet, no cable, no amenities to speak of for the new price of $40 - no thanks!! I'd rather stay in a KOA or on the river in town for that $$$ We camped at Lake Oroville SRA in a Tent Trailer.

Excellent State Campground; full hookups (only) at the Bidwell Canyon Area; paved, back-in sites, most level with shade, WIFI is available at the Recreation Building for $8 per day via AT&T. Marina with store and bait shop, boat launch. Showers were tiled with individual locking rooms, fifty-cents for 5 minutes, very clean. Stayed here four nights, very quiet. We camped at Lake Oroville SRA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed on the Bidwell side with full hookups. The spots are roomy with lot of space between. The bathrooms were clean and nice. (The Loafer Creek area is even more picturesque with large trees and sites and lots of spaces, but no hookups over there.) The pads are mostly level and asphalt. There are picnic tables. The scenery is nice and we had ducks and deer walk through our site. You can’t see the lake too well from this campground and we never did find a way to get to the water. We camped at Lake Oroville SRA in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: November, 2006 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Off season the place is empty as Reserve America states no sites are available. It actually is first come, first served after October. Great Camp hosts, very nice rangers. Full hookups was $19, and the camp was only 1/3 full Thanksgiving week. The lake was low, but if not, the water would be right behind most sites. Lots to do in the area, including the Fish Hatchery, boating, fishing, swimming. Showers were all tile, immaculate. Restrooms were also tiled, immaculate, but no soap. Summer could be busy, but winter is special at this state park. We camped at Lake Oroville SRA in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: September, 2006 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for almost a week and really enjoyed ourselves especially since it was so warm. Hot days and beautiful nights. The lake is only about 200-300 feet from the campsites. There are a number of very sheltered sites that provide a wind block during windy days. The spurs are asphalt but the area where you sit is dirt. There are fire rings and picnic tables. Lots of boating, fishing and swimming going on when we were there. The Feather River Salmon Hatchery is close by and they are open to the public. Very interesting watching the salmon climb the ladders on their way into the hatchery. Sheriff cruises through a few times a day to check on things. Quiet at night, no road noise. Rates are $19.00 or $17.00 if 62 or older. We camped at Lake Oroville SRA in a Motorhome.
