Camped here with my family over President's weekend. Originally scheduled with reservations for camping in Big Sur but due to road closures came here. The gentlemen at the gate was friendly and offered our dog a biscuit and did not charge us for him, which was very nice (normally a $2 per night fee). Also, I brought my kayak so paid $6 and had to fill out paperwork for Quagga Mussel inspection though he did not inspect my kayak whatsoever. We camped in the Oak Knoll campground and were assigned spots near the entrance but would have been next to a large 5th wheel which the campground was about 25% occupied. So we scouted out another site in the lower section that looked more appealing and closer to the water. First thing we noticed were none of the sites were close to being level. Both our site and my accompanying family in their motorhome had to used several blocks on the low side and that wasn't even enough. With the sewer connection being on the uphill side there was no slope for our trailer to drain so we did not use the sewer opting for the dump station down by the marina when we were leaving. The resort is huge with several different campgrounds, though Oak Knoll is the only one with full hook ups, and set-up for summer boaters with boat trailer parking throughout the campgrounds. The marina has several docks and launch ramps and can only imagine what a zoo it would be during the Summer. We did a hike along the Dog Run 5k trail which had some great views of the lake. I used the bathroom and shower in the morning and the water was barely warm, but most have kicked on the water heater as my girlfriend said the hot water was scalding hot when she showered a couple hours later. They appear to have been renovated recently. Overall, we had a nice stay and the area is so beautiful in the Spring. Our rate reflects the $5 senior discount. We camped at Lake Nacimiento Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Two ways to camp here. With hook ups at a site a mile and a half from the water, or without hook ups down by the water with all the other 'campers'. We've done both. Wouldn't suggest hook up area for anything longer than 30'. Roads are tight and trees are low. Definitely need to bring leveling blocks with you. A little quieter here than down below. The parking for campsites is fairly level and paved. Keep in mind you'll be surrounded by tents, trailers, RVs, or even people sleeping in the back of their trucks. This place has been around for a long time and it shows. The showers and bathrooms are beat but functional. There is a store onsite but they charge obscene amounts for the basics ($8 for a 20# bag of ice). Rangers disappear after 11 pm and you're on your own. Weekdays that's not so bad, but Fri- Sun forget it. Avoid the hassle and come in on Sun and pull out by Fri. After 30 years of camping here with a large group of family/friends,I think we'll look elsewhere for our annual event. Bummer... We camped at Lake Nacimiento Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground features beautiful big trees and a wonderful lake. It is not like some lakes. Nacimiento Lake has lots of "fingers' so you can get out away from others into your own cove. We camped at Lake Nacimiento Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Too many kids with loud music, swearing, playing loud music, walking through the campsites and not being supervised. Many under-aged drinkers, not family oriented at all. Very disappointing. We camped at Lake Nacimiento Campground in a Tent.
