Overall nice dry camping park. Would definitely not bring a rig over 27 feet here. Narrow turns. One corner took 30 minutes to navigate due to crowding. Great for trout fishing and young children. Caution - dump facility is closed on Sundays. Excellent restaurant/bar -the Steam Donkey; reasonable prices and great food. We camped at Stanislaus Nat'l Forest / Pinecrest Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground was disappointing enough that we stayed only for one night, while we had a reservation for two. The contrast with the Yosemite North Pine campground we were coming from was stunning. When we arrived, mid-afternoon, two cars were already parked in our site. OK, these people were nice and moved out without problem while we had to drive the loop around. The campground next to ours was occupied by a group of at least 15 people drinking and yelling all night, despite the fact that the campground regulations say that the limit of 6 persons per site is strictly enforced. Our site had a significant slope. Some people were burning scrap wood, producing thick smoke and a bad plastic smell. The light was out of service in the very dirty bathrooms: no hooks, a dirty shelf with peeling paint. The showers were worth a photo. For $5, you get: a stall with dirt hanging 9 inches from the ceiling, and an unpainted, wet and unsanitary wood bench. The next campground in our trip was in Calaveras, at the "Golden Pines RV Resort & Campground". For the same price as 4 showers at Pinecrest ($20), we got reasonably clean showers ($1 extra) and a very nice camping spot. Please understand that different people have different tastes. I am sure that many campers will love Pinecrest: those who do not mind crowds, smoke and noise, whose main activity is to sit and drink beer, while children are running around without supervision. Fine also if you like power boats. We are more of the quiet type: hikers, nature watchers. So, despite the crowds, we preferred by far our campgrounds in Yosemite and Calaveras. I will not return to Pinecrest. We camped at Stanislaus Nat'l Forest / Pinecrest Campground in a Truck Camper.

This older national forest park is a jewel for smaller rigs, and great for the near peak periods. If you like crowds, the summer programs and social life for the kids could be the highlight of summer. If you hae a big rig, find an alternative site. We camped at Stanislaus Nat'l Forest / Pinecrest Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Great Campground! Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy. Beautiful lake just across the road, where you can swim or fish. The general store had everything you need or may have forgotten at home. With no hook-ups it got a little noisy at times when other RVer's were using the generators, but aside from that, just the sounds of people talking and children playing. Although we were in a tend this time, it looked as if it would have been pretty easy to maneuver a travel trailer or RV. Will certainly go back. We camped at Stanislaus Nat'l Forest / Pinecrest Campground in a Tent.

This is a beautiful family campground close to the lake. They have movies at night in an amphitheater. There is a wonderful hike around the lake. Also great fishing in the lake. We camped at Stanislaus Nat'l Forest / Pinecrest Campground in a Tent Trailer.

This is a Forest Service campground which is located next to a very scenic lake. Sites are small and access roads are tight, so smaller motorhomes and TT are what are best here. Showers are pay and not cheap and not altogether clean, and located off the campground itself. The campground itself is well run and maintained. A General Store and restaurant are located nearby. What this place lacks in services, it makes up for in scenery and fishing. Will camp here again. We camped at Stanislaus Nat'l Forest / Pinecrest Campground in a Travel Trailer.
