October 1-2: Easy access from I-105. (Freeway ends and there is the park) No problems checking in. Full hookups with picnic table and grill. Sewer and water setup on right top of each other. Right on the Pacific Ocean beach. Park is located at the end of LAX airport runway with every jet takeoff a memorable moment. I hold the firm conviction that anyone who has stayed here will never complain about train whistles or road noise at a campground again. We camped at Dockweiler RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here 3 nights as part of a week long vacation. We have stayed here before and have always enjoyed this camp. Easy bike ride to neighboring beach towns and areas. Also, close for a car visit to other areas. This park also shares some public beach restrooms, so some are not so nice. There is a combination entry for 2 restroom buildings that are a step nicer. Only negative here is the airplane noise. You are camping directly under the LAX airport takeoff zone. Only other negative was a neighbor camper feeding pigeons on the road along the campsites. We will do a return visit here. Camping along the sand of the beach is a huge plus for our family. Fire rings on beach allow wood fires (both a positive and a negative feature). We camped at Dockweiler RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 4 nights over the Memorial Day weekend after traversing the country from Orlando. Love this park. It is right on the beach. The Strand runs right in front of the park. Manhattan Beach Pier is 3 miles down the Strand while Hermosa Beach Pier is only a couple of miles further. Marina Del Rey is the other direction. Perfect location, but very hard to get a reservation. The park itself is a long asphalt slab lined out for RVs with full hookups between. No grass, no trees, no gravel, no mud. This is right on the beach, lots of sand. Toilets and showers on either end of the park with public beach showers and toilets in the middle. Common use fire pits on the beach. Completely packed when we were there with folks from all over the world and everyone seemed to be having a great time. We camped at Dockweiler RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

You can't beat this RV park for location. It's on the beach, and a short drive to a ton of bars and restaurants. It's also driving distance to any of the usual LA attractions. Yes, the sites are small (it's basically a parking lot for RVs). But it's SoCal, so space is at a premium. And the price, while higher for an RV park ($65-70/night), is reasonable when considering that hotels in the area could easily cost 2-3x that amount. Also, wrap your mind around the fact that it's near the airport so you'll hear planes. Some noise should be expected since you're essentially staying in a city. There are full hookups, showers, and bathrooms (note: the ones on each end have an access code and are far nicer than the middle ones). Each site has a picnic table and charcoal grill. There's also a biking/walking/running path along the ocean. Book early. This place fills up quickly. We camped at Dockweiler RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here while visiting family in Los Angeles. This place is a great value for the location. Close to freeway (105/405) which makes getting to other points of interest easy (notwithstanding LA's horrible traffic). We have family in Santa Monica and getting there on side roads was easy. For the money (all RV parks in California are spendy relative to other states) hard to see how this place could be beat.

The good: Level paved access and parking, gate guarded, night-time security, directly on the beach, beautiful sunsets, bike path. The bad: LAX. RV park is directly under the departure vector and it is NOISY. About only quiet period is 1:30 - 4:40 AM. So bring your ear plugs. Parking for TOAD was not available next to coach, but not bad as we could park it less than 50 yards away. Other reviews mention odor from treatment plant across Playa Vista road. We did not experience anything. Note that the spots for motor homes are pull in as opposed to back in, but parking was easy enough and hook-ups easy. This park does get crowded on weekends. But during weekdays about 2/3 full and pleasant.

Staff was pleasant, and helpful. Office is open 8am - 8pm. Several restaurants deliver to park! Overall, we were very pleased with our stay here. We camped at Dockweiler RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rate is for back row and includes a premium charged for 4th of July weekend. Like other reviewers have said, it's a love/hate situation. Love: You can't beat the location. Not only is it ON the beach, but it's easy access to the greater Los Angeles area. You can hop on the 105 and get to wherever you want to go. There are regular police patrols so you feel fairly safe. The hookup's worked well. Open sky for good satellite signal. Hate: It's an asphalt parking lot. You're on top of your neighbors. Maybe you can put your awning out part way if you and/or your neighbor don't have slides. It's noisy from the jets overhead and it's noisy because the park is full during the Summer. We didn't get aroma from the sewer treatment plant. However we had it daily when we stayed here last February. When the park is full, there may not be parking for your tow car so you have to think twice about leaving the park and wondering if you'll find parking when you get back. Verizon cell was sketchy. Sprint Myfi had zero signal. Bottom line: If you're willing to put up with the con's, there are lots of pro's. We camped at Dockweiler RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

I believe Sites 84 & 85 are the only two sites that are 45' long. Site 84 (if you can get it) is especially nice because it's a corner and you have a little grassy area in front of your "patio area". Both sites give you a partial view of the ocean (assuming no sand berm during winter months). Note the back row is a little bit elevated so you might have a better view from the back row during winter than from the front row (due to the sand berm).

Do s'mores over a bonfire. Bring your bikes!

This Rv park had a great beachfront location. The management caused major gridlock trying to get into the park. Do not arrive before 2:00 PM. They do not allow you in early without charging an extra $17 per night. It would have helped if they would have at least let us check-in early so that we could have easily proceeded to our campsite at 100 PM . We camped at Dockweiler RV Park in a Motorhome.

Dockweiler is right on the beach, and right in the flight path of LAX. The designers masterfully made maximum use of the available space. Spaces are very tight, but sized so that a 40' motorhome with slides on both sides just wedges in, and there is no problem entering or exiting the spot.

There is no Wi-Fi, and neither AT&T nor Sprint cell service was available.

Bathrooms are minimalist. There are no other services, but beach access is a few steps away. Loud neighbors partying late and constant airplane noise make sleep problematic.

Very close to Venice Beach, Santa Monica, El Segundo. We camped at Dockweiler RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here in 2009 and if it still has the same standards, then we recommend it. Friendly place, very clean, nice beach, good size parking bays and facilities and sociable too. Only downside is that it's a bit too far from LA city centre and taxis can be expensive. We rate this RV park 8/10. We camped at Dockweiler RV Park in a Motorhome.

I recently stayed for a week. The bad: under LAX flight path. Very loud all day and some of the night. Sites very close together. Your awning will probably touch your neighbor's slide. No cable or WiFi. Smells like a sewer a lot of the time. Probably from the treatment plant across the street. The good: on the beach and bike path. Way overpriced for what you get but they are the only RV park near there. We camped at Dockweiler RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Specific spots assigned to trailers or RVs, so if you're in an RV and travelling with someone in a trailer, the RV would need to back in to a trailer spot. Each spot has a picnic table and grill. Spots are close, but not uncomfortably so. Front row is great for people watching and beach viewing. Friendly staff. We camped at Dockweiler RV Park in a Motorhome.

It's right on the beach, which is good. But it is in the flight path of LAX (24/7 planes overhead). It is right across the street from a sewage treatment plant, so when the wind comes off the land, it smells terrible. I would not recommend it, especially for the off-season rate. I've posted many reviews on Dockweiler. Park's pretty much the same as always. Decent neighbors and no disruptions. Some non-park negatives are that the beach had many more night parties than usual on the weekend (more fire rings, I think), and the ocean water was pretty dirty on our weekend stay. Add a star if you like the beach or if you like watching jet airliners screaming overhead every 60 seconds 24/7. This place was terrible. It was a large tarmac parking lot with 3 rows of campers tightly packed in. We walked out the door right into the sewer port. Half the spaces are back-in, the other half are pull-in. There are no pull throughs. There was no WiFi. The dog runs were little more than sand box sized enclosures that nobody was cleaning out and the dog refused to use. The TV signal is constantly interrupted by airliners taking off and landing. The hookups worked like they should. We would NOT stay here again. We camped at Dockweiler RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I have camped here time and really enjoy it!! It's a small park ,which is nice, especially if you have kids. You don't feel paranoid about the kids taking off on their bikes or skateboards. The spots are a little tight, which is tough if you have a really big trailer of 5th wheel and the sewer hookups are towards the front (weird)... If your sewer connections are at or near the back of your rig, you'll need a long sewer hose or an extension. You're really close to your neighboring site, so I suggest getting to know each other. It's separated from the main part of the beach which I hear can get a little rowdy (mainly on weekends). Nothing dangerous, just loud, but you are completely removed and separated from that in the RV park!! In the winter months there is a berm which blocks the ocean view from your site, but is really cool to see (again, especially if you have kids). The beach side spots are more readily accessible during the off season months yet the temperature is still very nice. It will get cold at night which makes the fire pits in the sand purposeful and not just great ambiance. Bottom line... It's the beach, it's clean... what's not to like!!! We camped at Dockweiler RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Book early...as far in advance as possible (90 days is the earliest allowed) in order to get a site along the sand. Every other side is good (you're only steps from the beach), but the beach side spots are what make the trip really special!!
