Stopped over for a few days visiting friends in the area. Very quiet, wide spacious sites with some shade. We stayed after Labor Day mid week, but can see where this could be a busy, family friendly park. All-in-all very satisfied. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We have been to this park several times. This park is now owned by Sun Resorts and the daily rate seems to be skyrocketing! Extra charge for guests, their car, etc. cabins available as well. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Great location for doing the wine trails in Amador County. All things wine! Don't miss the Vintage Market in Plymouth. Amador 360 will hold and ship wine (in the summer months) - a great service! So many wonderful wineries in a beautiful setting!

This is an older park with nice mature tree that provide the much needed shade and have adequate RV clearance. Where I have a problem is with the management. Using the Sun Resorts website, we reserved 2 sites for 4 days back in May . When we arrived the 2 sites were far apart. they spent some time looking at the schedule and the best they could do was move one of us to 3 spaces down and across the street. Then they told us that the bill was for the full amount. I asked about out $140 deposit that we made and they said there was no record of a deposit. We finally logged on to our bank account and took a snapshot showing the deposit payment. They then honored the deposit. We set up on our site and our friends set up three spaced down and across the street. During our entire stay there was no one in either site next to us. The transition to Sun Resorts has degraded the park in my opinion. Sun removed most of the signs and décor that suggested the "old west" character. I would also suggest the NO ONE use the Sun Resorts website. Call directly to the park for reservations. I agree that the park ratings seem higher than it should be given the conditions we found. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Convenient grocery store across the street. Lots of wineries in the immediate area and plenty of Gold Rush history in the area. It will be hot in the summer!

Overall Rating:

This is basically a weekend warrior campground with permanent residents scattered about after the weekend warriors are all gone. My understanding is this is now owned corporate instead of by locals, which kind of makes sense because a lot of times when that happens they come in they raise the prices, but make minimal upgrades and that is definitely the case here. We stayed here a lot back in the early 90s, mid 90s and early 2000's, and I can tell you this other than the grass getting mowed, none of electrical boxes have been upgraded, sewer still the same, pretty much minimal TLC which is too bad. Roads are still the same, in fact worse, because nothing's been done to basically asphalt patched potholes. Another thing I have a big problem with is they took full payment from me for a week - three weeks in advance, with no refund within 14 days of my arrival date. This is wrong, totally wrong. In fact I don't even know if it's legal, They really don't divulge this 'til after they've taken all your information, your payment, and then they still don't tell you until you ask. Had this not been a week that we just needed to get away, I would've told them to cancel . As far as the area, beautiful area, lots of wineries. It is a nice place to come visit. It's just too bad the park has not gotten a good maintenance upgrade schedule intact, because they have tripled ,their prices but nothing has been fixed or taken care of - too bad. Also, we only had 30 amp which is what I requested, but for a weekly price this was ridiculous. Can't tell you if I will come back, but if convenience is the factor then I probably will come back. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This does not deserve the higher rating it seems to get. It is a pleasant place but in bad need of maintenance. All interior roads including the paved sites need to be resurfaced. The sides are not level and nearly every larger rig we saw had to put extra blocks under their Jack's to be able to level. I expect this in a state park or a lower ranking less expensive part but not a park that commands the kind of prices that this one does. Picnic tables are very old and need replacing. Ours had a burn hole in it we would not sit down.

This seems like a great campground for children and families. With a little bit of money and maintenance, new tables and re-surfaced roads, leveled and resurfaced sites, this would be an outstanding Park. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This was our first stay at this park. Good time of year to come ... the park was maybe 50% full at best. Everything was really good ... only took off one point because there isn't a great deal of spacing between sites. Hookups worked very well. The best sites are in the back (premium) ... very long ... maybe 60+ feet and backup to a rolling meadow on the West where cows graze and maybe a few coyotes here and there. Tips for other Campers:

Really convenient to go wine tasting in the Plymouth area. There are dozens good wineries within 15-20 minutes. Also recommend driving a bit further to Somerset to try some wineries there. Short 15 minute drive to Sutter Creek or Jackson for shopping, and maybe 20 minutes to Jackson Rancheria indian casino if you care to gamble.

With out a doubt, the most miserable weekend I have ever spent in a motor home. 114 degrees outside just doesn't work. There was no one outside, either they were in the pool or inside their R V's. Now for the good. The park had planned for this weekend well in advance and had another gigantic generator to handle the loads of all the in use A C units. While trapped in side of our motor home, we played cards and games with the grandkids and this was fun. We had to wait until after the sun went down to have dinner outside. And again, the Park did a great job.. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Sites and road are asphalt with grass between the sites. Lots of big trees and the limbs could use trimming. The hook-ups are at the back of the site and took two hose to reach the sewer. The ducks are a nuisance and dirty. This is an older park that could use a face lift, it could be 10 if done right. The roads are narrow with very tight turns. But overall it is a pleasant stay. We stayed here on a recommendation from friends who used to RV. We booked it for 4 days. Regretted our choice after the first day. The ground was very moist from recent rains and the site was very uneven and not clean. For the cost of it sure wasn't worth it. Ducks and duck poop everywhere! Very tight spaces. Would not return unless things have changed. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This Park is showing it's age. With all the rain this year including Easter weekend, things are pretty messy. Several campsites completely underwater. Sun R V Resorts has purchased this park and hopefully will make necessary improvements to restore this park back to where it should be. It is still a fun place to be with lots to do very closeby. We already have reservations for Labor Day. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is our go-to park for Amador County wine tasting. The park is tree-lined and well-maintained. Some sites are a little tough to get into due to the trees, but it's worth the effort. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Wine tasting! Amador has quite a number of great and undervalued wineries. Taste restaurant is awesome. As is oicking up a sandwich at the Vintage Market and enjoying it later in a winery's picnic area.

The 49er card is worth the fee as it pays for itself with a free night within a week of your birthday and you get free night after so many visits. The County Fairgrounds are right next door and they typically open up a private gate from the park so that you can go to the events without driving.

Old park, narrow access and in need of upgrades. Park office/management personnel were unprofessional, rude and obnoxious, with the exception of one gentleman. Overpriced for weeded, unevenly paved sites with tons of ducks and poop. Have stayed here numerous times in the past, but will not return again, the management'attitude is not customer friendly or accommodating. Spaces are so tight that we had to move our tow vehicles three times so other rigs could have room to back into their sites. Watched one motor home scrape it's top on un-trimmed branches. This is an older park, (40 years) and very large. RV spaces are good but access can be a problem for bigger rigs as the road is narrow and lots of tow vehicles parked along it. Owners need to start putting some of the money back into park. It is very popular as near foothills and wineries.

There is cafe and ice cream. Saw lots of the kids with ice cream in the cold weather. It was raining so lots of mud everywhere, not the parks fault.

Also they do not seem to enforce the 10 pm quiet time as a group was partying until at least 12:30 or so.(And this was not New Years night.) We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
