This park is beautiful . . . it is a great place to make it what you want. . . be as rustic (tenting) or glamping . . .great people, good food at a great price . . don't miss the breakfasts . . . the pool area is perfect. They have a honey wagon that services all your dumping needs . . . the people working here are great and generous with there time and expertise. Good opportunity for mountain RVing. Just like any place else, there is room for improvement but it's a camping opportunity NOT a luxury hotel. This is a great place for retirees. Families are mostly here on weekends. BTW this is a membership opportunity . . not a timeshare. Kinda like your gym membership. Unlimited stays, no daily fee. Definitely worth the money especially for Local within 200 miles, easy to get to but not within the city. We camped at Ghost Mountain Ranch in a Motorhome.

We stayed on one of those time share free stay for listening to a sales pitch deals. Colorado River Adventures is the Main Name. We were lied to at every turn! The $300 gas card we were promised was some gas refund scam. To qualify you have to by $75 of Shell gas per month BUT you can't buy it the 4th month AND submit your refund request in time! The other items were trash. Surprisingly, you think that they would place the people that they were trying to sell memberships to in some of the best spots. Our spot was so unlevel and difficult to get into that we knew right away we would never buy. The sites are also right on top of each other. We couldn't even put our awning out. We were told on the phone, when setting up our visit, that we could stay the whole week. When we arrived were were told, 3 days! No, there was no way to extend / use our 'free days' or anything else. All that being said, the social events at the campsite were wonderful! They have plenty of acreage. If they doubled the size of the current camp sites, it would be worth considering! But until then, stay away! We camped at Ghost Mountain Ranch in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a Colorado River Resort park, of which we are members, so we stayed for free. Very pleasantly surprised at how nice this campground was! Very well maintained, gorgeous enclosed pool and lawn area with a children's playground inside. They had a sand volleyball court and a basketball court with really decent backboards and hoops. The sites were deceptively level and had a variety of configurations to choose from. Of course, that might be the case pre-season (we were in early May). Looked like they were continuing with upgrades. Interior roads were narrow, partial paved, partial gravel, but no pot holes. Club house and activity area is the "ghost town" with the fronts of the buildings appearing to be original. The "saloon" is the club house and we just have to say this was amazing. They had a dance floor, a bar/table area for eating and a separate lounge area with a fireplace, TV, and wonderful leather furniture. Campground host and other camp staff were friendly and helpful. Only downsides we saw: There is no sewer hookup at any of the sites. The honey wagon comes around 3 times per week. CRA members get this for free, others pay $15 per service. And the last mile of road leading up to the campground is FULL of giant potholes--take your time. It is a shame the membership sales has so many negative reviews...the campground is actually one of the best we've stayed at so far. We WILL come back! We camped at Ghost Mountain Ranch in a Motorhome.

Lots of hiking around the campground itself. Lots of gold rush history in the area. Placerville is close by and worth a drive in to visit the shops and the historical gold mining area.

Problem with folks on phone telling me one thing, staff at resort not fulfilling the commitment of phone staff. VERY difficult to get in and out with a big rig. Advertising is deceptive as there is no horseback riding on the property. There is adjacent but no one gave me that information. Security is RUDE! We camped at Ghost Mountain Ranch in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a very nice place to stay. Very quiet and clean. Campers were spaced evenly. The pool was always clean and the staff was friendly. We would definitely go back and revisit this park. We camped at Ghost Mountain Ranch in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is well off the beaten path, many shaded sites. Electric was OK but lower voltage at times. Water pressure good and satellite views OK in some sites. Very nice pool and the Rec room would be great with air conditioning.....will not return unless they get air in those buildings. Food is served on certain days, its reasonable and pretty good. We stayed as RPI members with a $10/night rate. All in all a very nice park .....need air conditioning, did I say that already?! We camped at Ghost Mountain Ranch in a Motorhome.

The cons outweigh the pros. Poor maintenance of narrow roads. Crumbling asphalt with drop-offs at edge of road. Not a pleasant experience winding a big rig through the park. Wood fencing needs sealer, looks bad and will get worse without being taken care of. No sewer at site. Dump is difficult for a 33' motorhome to access. No cable TV at site and too many trees for satellite reception (normally I wouldn't complain about trees if there was an alternate for TV). No Wi-Fi at site, only at sales office. Sites are far from level and are a dusty red dirt that will track into your rig and make a horrible mess. Simply leveling the sites with gravel would have made a huge difference. The 'restaurant' only had pedestal fans for cooling. Was very hot when we were there. We chose to feed ourselves in our air conditioned RV. An adjacent road was busy with noisy log trucks. Why anyone would buy here (timeshare-like situation) is beyond me. They've had two years since taking it over to make this a good experience and seem to be doing nothing but taking payments from the purchasers. This could be a really nice place if they made an effort. We camped at Ghost Mountain Ranch in a Motorhome.

This membership campground was recently purchased a year or so ago by Colorado River Adventures with major renovations completed and continuing. Nice quiet campground in tall pine trees with a friendly helpful staff. Spotless restroom facilities and activities building. Great facilities with a fine pool area. Plenty of beautiful topography to challenge the beginner RV handler while maneuvering. The stated rate is promotional. We camped at Ghost Mountain Ranch in a Travel Trailer.

Rvers should expect back in only sites. The turn radius for our 40' 5th wheel on unlevel ground crushed the hitch cover into the side of the truck damaging both. We left and found a big rig friendly park. We camped at Ghost Mountain Ranch in a Fifth Wheel.

This park was recently acquired by Colorado River Adventures membership club and the rate reflects that. The last two miles of road prior to the entrance are indeed tight but have obviously been trimmed since the earlier reviews. Go slow, it is do-able. The interior roads are very tight and the pavement occasionally drops off to ruts along the edges. If you have a toad, disconnect inside the entrance, as some of the turns further in are very tight. Virtually none of the sites are level. They range from a gentle slope to "I wouldn't put a tent there!" The pool and its yard are lovely. The staff is very friendly and the new owners are trying very hard to upgrade the place, for example new picnic tables at the sites. Once parked the experience was nice. My score is mainly for the interior park roads. We camped at Ghost Mountain Ranch in a Motorhome.

It's been a few years since we have stayed at this park and we were a little disappointed on how much the park has changed, and not for the better. The staff is very friendly and the pool area is well kept but the rest of the park was in need of a major overhaul. We stayed over the Fourth of July weekend and the kids loved it but I wish the management would remodel the restrooms and showers. Because the staff was so friendly, we will probably come back in the fall so we can enjoy the Apple Hill area, but our plans are not set in stone. We camped at Ghost Mountain Ranch in a Travel Trailer.

We are in a 40' motor home with an internet satellite rooftop system. The 3 mile access road is essentially a narrow, tree-lined one-way road with many potholes. The park is poorly laid out with all sites in trees, thus not usable by us. We ended up dry-camping one night in their ghost town parking lot. People camping here that we talked to said power is low voltage and irregular. Water pressure low. There is a dump station which is difficult for a big rig to access. Sorry but this is not a big-rig friendly place and we will not return!! We camped at Ghost Mountain Ranch in a Motorhome.

This park is not suitable for big rigs, but we didn't check the RV Park Review on it beforehand. The last mile of road is too narrow, just barely room for a motorhome and maybe a small car to squeeze by. And no way to turn around until you arrive at the park entrance. Fortunately for us in our 40' big rig, they have a large parking lot and allowed us to dry camp there one night since it was off-season. Great area for rigs 30' or less if you like forests on a hillside. We camped at Ghost Mountain Ranch in a Motorhome.

Resort park in the pines. Sites are short, tight and hard to get into. The have one way roads going the wrong direction to get into most spots at the right angle. Honey wagon comes only once a week. We had to pay a $4 a day energy fee and we were still in the yellow most of the time and red if we had the refrigerator and water heater on( on our line tester ). Very poor electricity. Very kid- and family-friendly. They had movies all day and entertainment in the evening. Pot lucks and special family dinners. Horseback riding and a ghost town were a plus. This was an excellent place to be in the Fall. This campground is huge! Lots of stuff for the kids to do (swimming, horseback riding, ghost town, movies, etc) and the park is only 5 miles from the Apple Hill area. The facilities were clean but in need of some extra care. We camped at Ghost Mountain Ranch in a Travel Trailer.
