Good room between sites, which were level. Good wifi. No picnic tables. Only 2 washers and dryers in laundry.
No AT&T or Verizon cellular phone or data coverage; there is a pay phone available. Clean restrooms (1 of each). Quiet park, except for guns shooting in the dark in adjacent woods. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Set in the redwoods, so plenty of hiking available nearby. You are quite isolated, so bring what you need- you basically go north to Fortuna for shopping.

This is a nice, clean park that is set up well. It's in a great location on Avenue of the Giants, yet close enough to the freeway for access. Very quiet though! The spaces are level easy to get into and long enough to accommodate any size RV. They have two sewer hookups, one in the rear and one in the middle with lawn in between the sites. The office folks are very friendly and helpful. They do have wifi throughout the park unlike some of the older reviews stated, so perhaps they have expanded. We will definitely be back. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Sightseeing, giant and old redwoods. Close to the river, Ferndale and other quaint towns and communities.

What a friendly, genuine greeting upon arrival at Ancient Redwoods RV Park. We got a thorough introduction to the surrounding area attractions as well as a fabulous guide book. Our pull-thru site had water with excellent pressure, electricity, cable television, and an RV dump receptacle. The site length(s) in all the spots we saw could accommodate the largest of motorhomes and 5th wheel trailers. Site width is excellent as well. The motorhome parked next to us was about 25 feet away, allowing for decent privacy. Satellite TV reception was no problem in the pull-thru sites. In the 2015 drought months, one might wish for a cooling swimming pool, but, alas, there wasn't one. Other than that, Ancient Redwoods RV Park comes highly recommended! We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Ferndale makes an interesting side trip with its Victorian architecture.

The park has paved roads and RV sites, there's a nice distance between sites with grass. The park is surrounded by trees but doesn't have any mature trees in the middle, so hardly shaded.

The spots that could be more shaded are the back ins. It relatively quiet and the people are really nice, no dog park and it's not geared to families, which we liked since we prefer the quiet.

Wifi worked great for us, one of the best!

Showers and bathroom are not fancy but very comfortable and clean. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Visitor center is only 9 miles away.

We have Verizon and it worked great 0.5 down the road, eventhough they have an extended network, so it also work by the office but not at our site.

The only comment I have about this park is that there is NO cell phone service. You are advised this when you check in. It is located in a quiet, beautiful setting. Internet is acceptable. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nice setting in a clearing among the redwoods, but zero shade. WiFi was not adequate for making WiFi calls. No T-Mobile signal. The sites are pretty long (good for big rigs) and paved, mostly pull-through, with a nice grass lawn between each. They have two sewer hookups, one in the rear and one in the middle with lawn in between the sites. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

The small park is located in the coastal redwoods along old hwy 101. Perfect for exploring the area. The park is only 6 yrs old and appears to be carved out of the area trees. There are no trees in the camp proper but you are surrounded. Very quiet, enough room between sites. No picnic tables though. We would stay here again. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

You must tour through the tallest trees in the world!!. Many easy trails and picnic areas. Absolutely beautiful. Words do not do the area justice.

We stayed for 2 nights, check in was easy and very welcoming. The owners told us which sites had 70' pull throughs and take any of our choosing. The hookups were good and well located. The maintenance man was out cutting the grass while we were settling into our site. Very clean park, we did not use the restrooms or showers here. It was very quite during our stay. We would definitely stay here again if we were back in the area. We stayed here in a motor home. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground has a tourist stop store on the Avenue Of The Giants. They had a few grocery items available from what I seen. We didn't need any camping supplies or food.

This is a pretty basic park on the "Redwood Highway". The sites are long and narrow asphalt and in an open area, but there are redwoods all around the park. The sites are pretty well separated by grassy areas. No showers, but the restrooms and laundry room were very clean. The laundry room only has two washers and two dryers so you might have to wait if you time it wrong, and they only take quarters. The store has a really nice selection of gifts and crafts, but almost nothing in the line of food. Lots of beer and wine, though. lol! What I really loved about this park was the great laid-back attitude of the owners. No extra charge for the pooch. No full page, single spaced list of silly rules (just the normal ones), and they had no problem with allowing us to drop our camper from our truck. Many places do not allow that and it was great since we stayed several days and didn't want to haul the camper with us on the horrible roads while we explored the area. There is little to no Verizon service at the sites, but the owner told me that they have a booster and I could make calls if I stayed by the store. Didn't try it out. The wifi actually worked great though. I would've appreciated a picnic table, although there was a round plastic table at the site. And, at under $40 for a full hookup in California, it was a good deal. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

Do not take the loop road through Petrolia to the "Lost Coast" area and back to Fernwood unless you don't care about your vehicle at all. One of the worst roads we've ever driven...about knocked the fillings out of our teeth. And, when you finally get to the ocean, most of it is private property. Sure wish California kept all of its beaches public like Oregon does!

We stayed at Ancient Redwoods for 5 nights while exploring the Avenue of the Giants and Humboldt Redwoods State Park. This is a good "no frills" RV park in a great location, right along the Avenue of Giants. The sites are pretty long (good for big rigs) and paved, mostly pull-throughs, with a nice grass lawn between each. The staff was friendly and helpful, but once they leave the office for the evening you're on your own: there's no camp host. We had no cell service at all (Verizon or AT&T) and even with our booster we could only get a weak signal. Fortunately the free WiFi worked pretty well most of the time. We were there just a week after they opened for the season, so there were only about 10 RVs in the park. We found plenty of places to walk our dogs inside the park. There was some road noise during the day, but it was mostly quiet at night. We'd return here if we were visiting the area again. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If driving a big rig, it's easier to approach from the US-101 exit just south of the RV park. The Avenue of Giants to the north of the RV park has some very narrow and twisty areas. It can be done, it's just trickier. If walking dogs in the park, watch out for ticks in the tall grass!

Nice setting in a clearing amongst the redwoods, but zero shade. Mostly level asphalt sites, but both ends of the pullthrus slope for the last 6' or so which puts the front end rather high when pulled forward in site. Reasonable asphalt access roads except for somewhat tight u-turn to access the pullthru sites - no problem even in a big rig, but does require a bit more care. Minimal entrance signage so you are at the entrance by the time you can see the sign. Power ok, did not use other utilities. Wifi had decent signal and speed even at the farthest site, but campground was mostly empty. We did see a Hughesnet dish, but don't know if this is the source of the internet connection - it didn't behave like one. No Verizon cell signal, but office has a booster that yields 3 bars of 3G just outside of the office. We will stay here again to see the redwoods on the area. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Some of the groves in Humboldt Redwoods State Park have minimal parking so probably best to do this mid week & off season

This is a super place to stay and visit the Redwoods as it is located on The Avenue of the Giants. The owner if very helpful and gave us a great guide for what to see and do. There is a small store and gift shop with lots to look at. We will go back and recommend it to others. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

I suggest a trip to see Ferndale and their Victorian houses and buildings and the local museum. Then stop for cheese at the Loleta Cheese Factory and if you go on Thursday or Saturday they will be making cheese. Then go to Eureka to see the lovely Victorian houses and businesses. Be sure to see the Humbolt Visitor Center for a movie on the 1964 flood.

Rate reflects weekly rate of $235. Very nice park with easy access. Right on the Ave of the Giants. Big rig friendly and utilities worked great. Electric stayed right at 122 all week. Lots of berries surrounding the park although they weren't in season when we were there. No road noise and friendly owners/mgrs. There is no campground host at night. No pool or amenities. There is a laundry room however we did not use it as we have our own. We would return to stay here again. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Travel the Avenue of the Giants with lots of hiking trails and informational signs.

There is a small vegetable stand nearby going north. It's the second stand you come to. You can see their veggies growing alongside the stand. If you don't like what you see inside the stand, ask and if possible, they will go out and pick some fresh while you wait.

This is a very nice park in the heart of the Redwoods, but lacks amenities for the money. Sites are level, asphalt, plenty long and hookups are well situated. Water pressure was only 30, even though we were the only people in the park! There is no cable TV, no TV stations available by antenna, but our Direct TV Satellite service was great. No cell service, and even using the booster while inside the office, service was poor. We were the only campers in the park, and with only one light on in the park, it was extremely dark at night. And since there was no phone service, it was a bit intimidating. We felt insecure at night, since there are hundreds of homeless young people living along the roads throughout Humbolt County, and we had no way of calling for help if needed. The laundry room and bathrooms were very clean and nice. The staff were extremely nice and helpful, and had it not been for them, we probably would have ended our stay sooner. We would stay here again, but only if it were earlier in the season, and there were other campers in case help was needed at night. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice park. We stayed here in our 45' RV and had no trouble maneuvering on the roads. Sites were close but still comfortable. What a perfect a location for sightseeing the Avenue of the Giants!! We had a wonderful time in this area. Verizon coverage was very poor. Registration is in the gift shop and the folks are very nice and helpful! I recommend this campground highly. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.
