Nice park for overnight or a few days to explore the redwood forests nearby. Quiet location, paved roads and some grass between sites. Wifi worked ok. No cell service. Some sites not satellite friendly, ask for one that is if that is important. Roads easy to navigate. Sites are a bit narrow but still enough space to have a table and chairs out. This is a nice place about a days drive from the SF Bay area so we always stop here when making the trip to or from the bay area from the north. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Our third stay through the years, really like this park. Location right on the Avenue of the Giants but park area has clear sky so easy to use roof DirecTV satellite. Verizon signal booster at pavilion, no ATT service at all. Wifi is free for some data and worked well although it went down many evenings late. Reasonable fee in my opinion if you wanted to use more. Very nice people and gift shop. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Loleta Cheese Factory! When you drive up your first thought will be to keep going but stop! Wonderful variety of grilled cheese sandwiches...we went twice! There cheese is very good and we used their smoked cheddar in some mac and cheese...awesome! Ferndale was a fun stop and the beach about six miles west had some great waves.

Loved this park. Quiet, friendly and accommodating service and appreciated the close proximity to The Avenue of the Giants and the State Redwood Forest. While this park is older and does not have a pool or amenities found at an RV resort, this is an great place to stay. Some of the cleanest restrooms and showers that we have seen. We would definitely recommend to our friends and would stay again. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a well maintained park with clean services. They had the "Everlasting Tree" and beautiful art in the gift shop. It is located near the Humbolt State Park home of the tall Redwoods. The staff were extremely helpful on pointing out the various places of interest. The gift shop had beautiful redwood art and jewelry. They have an in house ingraver that will make you custom designed Redwood signs. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice RV park. Paved roads and wide level concrete pull thru and back in sites with a strip of grass between each and scattered trees. Utilities good. OK for big rigs. About half the sites can get satellite signal. NO cell signal but a cell signal booster at the pavilion. Free wi fi. Nice gift shop and very small grocery store. Family owned and operated park. No pool or rec room. Everything clean and staff very friendly and helpful. Good restrooms, showers and laundry. On the Ave of the Giants. Overall a very nice RV park. Would stay there again. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very low water pressure made it difficult to shower, do dishes, etc. Sites are tight. Roads are narrow making travel with 40' Class A a challenge. Manager is not very reasonable and there is little flexibility when it comes to accommodating paying campers with small requests. There is no picnic table, but rather a chipped round plastic table...no chairs. Firewood is expensive...$8.50. The facility does have WiFi in an area where there is little or no cell service. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

This seemed to be a nice little RV park. Most of the staff seemed friendly and helpful. The sites are close (maybe 10' between RVs) and there is very little privacy but I knew that beforehand. What turned my opinion of this campground to the bad side was my interactions with either the manager or the owner. The first was him unlocking the shower room and opening the door while I was unclothed and soaking wet because he had heard that there was possibly a transient in the area. Really? Is it that utterly important that a transient be denied a shower that you barge into an occupied shower? The second had to do with campground maintenance. One morning before we were leaving to go see the sights he had a string trimmer out and was whacking away at the grass and weeds on all of the sites, occupied or not. Grass clippings were flung about on our outdoor stuff and small stones thwacked against the sides and windows of the RV. After returning later that day I discovered that our outdoor mat had a corner chewed up and a note on the door saying "Oops, please come to the front office". Apparently he also runs the mower through set up sites! At the front office he offered me $20 for my troubles. When I said that it was a $65 mat and had the Amazon order up on my phone, he got irate, pulled $65 from the till and said that he had just bought the mat. I really didn't think much of it, but when I exited the office he had already (somehow) gotten to his golf cart and was literally halfway to the site to go repossess the mat. I couldn't believe it! When I confronted him about it he "graciously" offered to let us continue to use it for the rest of our stay. I wanted to like this RV park, but management soured it beyond redemption. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Small, quiet park located on the Avenue of the Giants. Park has a mix of FHU pull through and back in sites (49 in total). We stayed in site 19, a pull through site which was mostly level. Interior roads and sites are paved and easy to navigate. Ample grassy areas (although mostly dead) between sites and some small trees that provide much needed shade. There are trees all around the perimeter of the park, but the sites are in an open area. Each site has a fire pit and some have plastic tables, but no chairs. Zero OTA channels and Verizon signal is non-existent except at the office/gift shop or at the large covered pavilion where there is a cell booster. Staff here are friendly and top notch. We really liked being greeted with a smile rather than handed a bunch of rules to follow. When I asked when checkout time was, they said "noon-ish" or just let them know if we needed extra time. How great is that! The park had some water issues when we arrived but fixed it quickly and the owner came by to make sure all was well with us and the other campers which was much appreciated! The office also gave us extra internet vouchers to compensate for the issue. Internet worked well but slowed down when the park was full, which is to be expected. The park has two private showers and two toilets (one for each gender) in the park itself, and another set of bathrooms by the gift shop. All were cleaned daily. There is also laundry onsite which consisted of two washers and two dryers (although one dryer was out of order). The gift shop is large with an assortment of wood collectibles and trinkets. They also have a small selection of chips, snacks, ice cream and even beer and wine. Although the park has no amenities, it's location is perfect for exploring the Avenue of the Giants. We enjoyed our stay and would return. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The nearest grocery store is Hoby's Market in Scotia, about 10 miles away. It's only slightly better than a convenience store with a limited selection of groceries, so probably best (and cheaper) to stock up before you come here. The trees on the Avenue of the Giants were awe inspiring!

We travel full-time in a 40 ft. motor home and stayed here a week. This is a beautiful park and the red woods are a sight to behold. The park staff were very friendly and helpful. The park has a really wonderful gift shop. They provided us with many tips for our sight seeing tours. There are not many restaurants, so we ate in a lot. The park WIFI worked fine for us but the park was only about 30% occupied. The park has an open sided shed that has a cellular booster that provides cellular service in about an eight foot square area. So, for the most part, our Verizon cell phones were great cameras. Driving the Avenue of the Giants was interesting in that our Sirius radio was spotty and even my GPS had problems. These giant trees block a lot of electrical energy. Big rig friendly. Great location to visit redwood sights as well as Eureka and Ferndale. Direct TV, and WiFi works well, cell phones don't. No off leash dog park but lots of grassy spaces to walk them. Staff is very friendly. We were there late September mid week and it was pretty full each night. Easily the best big rig option closest to redwoods. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very good park to see the Redwoods from as it is located on the main highway in the park. Office staff was great and very helpful. We could get Direct TV from our dish. My ATT phone did not have a signal but their inter net worked fine from our site. All hook ups worked great and were in a very good spot. Only reason they didn't get a 10 was the sites were not long enough to park our coach and toad behind each other but owner told me to park on the grass beside the coach. Each site has a grass lawn between sites and where wide enough for slides and still didn't feel like you were parked on top of each other. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.
