Parking lot style site, but with enough trees planted to provide fairly decent shade. Bit steep, but still able to level with some adjustment. Great staff, great neighbors, right in Sacramento. 5 minute walk to great trail with river views. If you need to be in Sacramento, this is a great little place to be. Price is a touch high, but you are paying for the proximity to the city, not the scenic site. We'll definitely be back whenever we visit Sac area friends again. We camped at Cal Expo RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is not a resort. I am rating this park a "10" because of what it does offer. Can accommodate all sizes of RV's. Very quiet. Park is at the very back of the Expo grounds so it felt very safe. This is a good park to stay while visiting Sacramento. It's close to major shopping, restaurants and theaters and not too far from the Capitol (a MUST see!) Very well kept, fenced and shaded dog park. If you're going in summer be advised Sacramento is frequently over 100 degrees and this park only has a few shaded spots. The best is #211 for a smaller rig. It seems all the big rigs are parked in a big gravel lot. Sites are wide and long enough to have your slides and awnings out. Also has good utilities and WIFI. ATT and Verizon cell service is good. The price is right too. This is not a resort but you get a big site, closeness to all the visitor sites and only $45 a nite. We will be back. We camped at Cal Expo RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Paesanos Italian Restaurant in Mid-Town - great Italian food, good service and easy to get to from the RV park. Close by is Zocalo's Mexican Restaurant on Howe Stree. Beautiful restaurant, great service and creative menu.

Nice people working the office. Low key park with no extras. It is right on the bike trail which was nice. Sloping asphalt but not a problem. Gravel sites the same price. I feel it over priced. We stayed 3 quite nights. We camped at Cal Expo RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a good park to stay while visiting Sacramento. It's close to major shopping, restaurants and theaters and not too far from the Capitol (a MUST see!) Mgmt was so accommodating of the multiple changes I made to my reservation that I can't say enough nice things about their patience with me. Very well kept dog park that my girl enjoyed several times a day. If you're going in summer be advised Sacramento is frequently over 100 degrees and this park only has a few shaded spots. The best is #211! You can't open your awning but you don't need to because 2 tall trees provide ample shade all day. We camped at Cal Expo RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

The Positives: Walking trails and bicycle trails abound. Clean and quiet, security in place. All sites have full hookups. Dog park and dog run. Spacious sites. The Negatives: Few trees, you are literally camping in a parking lot. You will need lots of leveling blocks .There are homeless people that use the bike trails but I didn't see anyone who made me nervous and we were comfortable walking during the day (but don't walk long distances out on the trails alone). It doesn't have a google address but does show up on google maps. Visitors will be able to find you but I was reluctant to order delivery food. We camped at Cal Expo RV Park in a Motorhome.

We live in the area and stayed here for a couple of weeks while we had to be out of our house due to a remodel. It is a typical fairgrounds-type RV park. Big rig friendly, FHU with over the air TV. I never got the wifi to work but we were a long way from the tower. Both gravel and paved sites . We stayed on the gravel side which was fine. There is a max of 30 days and then you have to leave for 30 days. Only vendors are allowed during the state and county fairs. Not a destination park by any stretch but very convenient with easy access to attractions in and around the Sacramento area. Cal Expo Security patrols the area. We would stay here again. We camped at Cal Expo RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

GPS takes you to Cal Expo, park is at the end of Ethan. Pavement spots are on a hill, gravel spots are level. Lots of restaurants nearby, grocery a mile or so away. Relatively quiet, tires on gravel noticeable. We camped at Cal Expo RV Park in a Motorhome.

As others have said, it is just basically a parking lot--either asphalt or gravel, depending on what site you are assigned. However, it is easy in and out, and decently priced for a campground in the heart of the city. We stayed here because we needed a campground near a maintenance shop we were visiting the next day, and this fit the bill. Big-rig friendly, and full hookups. We camped at Cal Expo RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The host recommended we take a family bike ride to historic Old Sacramento on the American River Bike Trail just by the campground. While the trail is beautiful near the campground, I do NOT recommend riding in to Old Sac. Just past the bridge, it becomes tent city. The trash, drugs, excrement, arrests, and some not-so-friendly people were not what we wanted to expose our kids to. We even saw a chalk body-outline. However, if you go left from the campground on the trail, the trail is safe.

Overall Rating:

The daily rate is based on what we paid for a 2 week stay. As someone else pointed out, there are 2 sides to the park, a paved side and a gravel side. We ended on the gravel side, which is apparently the side reserved for the big rigs that need 50 amps. The sites are only marked by the electric meter box, with nothing showing any type of boundary for the front or rear of the site. Locating the connections was easy and for the most part, easy to get connected. There was a little bit of a problem with the sewer connection, as the hole is sunk into a concrete pad, making it a little difficult to get the sewer elbow to stay in the hole. Our AT&T cell phones and hot spot worked well. Their Wi-Fi worked well, as did our OTA and satellite TV. We camped at Cal Expo RV Park in a Motorhome.

Had a flat, level, gravel, pull through spot. Total length was about 70 feet. The staff was very friendly and helpful providing directions to save time driving to a club Christmas Dinner. The gravel was packed down and as long as people drove slow, I saw no dust. There is a decent, fenced in dog park with three trees, grass and dirt plus a pooper scooper. Good place to spend a night or two. Heard a few trains, but not a major issue. I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Cal Expo RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

One should be aware that this park has two choices a gravel parking lot or a paved parking lot. We arrived late in the day dues to poor directions on the parks web site. (should have followed my GPS). Made res for a 50 amp site but were give a 30. Had to wait to the next day to get it corrected. No tables to use for anything. Paved part where we were at has a down hill slant and reguired full extension of landing leg to level trailer. We camped at Cal Expo RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I was in the gravel lot which was very dusty. Sites are somewhat close but usable. There is a nice paved area but the sites are small the lot is way off level. There are not many choices in this area so it's as good as it gets here. We camped at Cal Expo RV Park in a Motorhome.

The staff is AWESOME!! Staff called us back several times to coordinate the availability of the correct space to accommodate my wife's disability. We needed a level spot so the step into the motorhome was minimal. The site was pretty quiet for being in town and the fair just ending. It is walking/wheelchair distance to shopping and dining. The downside is that there were only 2 working washing machines. Other than that, this place was a GREAT stay. Good staff, good neighbors, and reasonable price.
