The new name for this park is "Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca." Access for a big rig is tight, the roads are narrow and very steep (in one place, 16% grade). Our site was listed as "Premier." Not so much, in my opinion. There is electricity and water. No sewer so you have to be careful about the capacity of your holding tanks. This is an old park with a lot of big trees and is not configured for big rigs. The sites are dirt and dust, short and sloped downhill. Bring chocks and wood for shoring, lots of it, if you want to be level. Our dualies were off the ground if we wanted to be level so we just used some boards and lived with not being level, instead. If you are here for the races, I guess it's worth it, but this is severely rustic camping. We camped at Laguna Seca Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Park is divided into 3 or more small campgrounds. Most sites have water and electricity. Some sites are very close together. A fair amount of vehicle traffic because of the raceway, but that would be expected. Some noise from a gun range next door. Only one dump station for the entire area that is facing downhill. Entry and exit into some campgrounds and dump area are fairly tight. May be a challenge with a large rig. We camped at Laguna Seca Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

We have stayed here before with a 36' 5th wheel, but this was our first time in our 43' tag axle MH. The entry road is steep but perfectly possible to navigate. The roads in the campground loops are more difficult to navigate. There are lots of trees that are now overgrown and need trimming, the roadways are narrow, and there are numerous obstacles and drop-offs waiting for you if you don't pay attention. Many of the sites that are reasonably accessible for a 40'+ Class A are not level. I had to level manually and leave the coach slightly rear-down to prevent the rear tires from being lifted off the ground (a big safety no-no because of the parking brake) Apparently there is now a problem with the old water pipes in the campground, causing the arsenic levels to exceed the federal standard for potable water. Between the overgrown trees, narrow roads, and now non-potable water, we won't be back. It's too bad because it's really quiet here at night and the starry skies are beautiful. We camped at Laguna Seca Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

We stayed here with our RV club during a non-race weekend. I didn't know what to expect but I liked the place very much. The good...nice large sites, very quiet at night, not crowded at all and a very good value for the money. Sites are mostly on gravel or packed dirt with water/elect only but there is a dump at the bottom of the hill. Super view of the whole valley from the sites on the hill. There is a whole section adjacent that has no hookups but there were RV's there too along with several tents. There are a lot of sites to choose from. The not so good...when we were there the water was supposedly non-potable because of higher than normal arsenic levels but it's safe to use other than drinking. Apparently during the winter it's better when the spring has more volume of water. The main issue some may have is the noise. Even on non big race weekends, there are groups still racing smaller cars so there is racing noise several hours of the day that I didn't mind but some may not like. You can walk a few yards from your site and watch the people racing. Additionally there is a shooting range across the canyon so you can hear target practice during the day. Both noises did not bother me, they get tuned out after a while but some may not like it. There is not much to do nearby but only about 1/2 hr to Monterey. We camped at Laguna Seca Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

I called on Monday June 26th to see if I could make a reservation for my 26' travel trailer for Saturday July 1st through July 4th. I was told that reservations must be made at least 1 week in advance, even though they had over 50 sites available. I asked, "If you have that many sites open, why can't you take my reservation so I can be assured a site for my trailer?" Her reply, "I'm sorry we just don't take reservations that soon. We are taking reservations for next week only, not this week." This is a stupid policy to not be able to reserve an open site! Anyways, she proceeded to tell me that the only weekend that has ever sold out was the past Memorial Holiday weekend and that I should be fine in having a spot. I called on Friday June 30th at 4:45 and was told that there were still over 50 spots available for my size travel trailer. And yes, again they would not take a reservation unless it was 7 days out. So....Saturday we head out to Laguna Seca. Upon arrival we had to endure a very steep 16 degree climb, just to find out that there are NO available spaces that would fit my travel trailer. Also, the driveway throughout both campsites are very tight. It was frustrating experiencing the first come, first to get a site chaos as I am looking at small trailers taking up several of the larger RV sites. There were a few open sites but they were only big enough to fit a van conversion type RV, not a 26ft travel trailer. I will not ever consider staying here - reservation or not. We ended up driving about 45 minutes away to Yanks RV Resort off of Hwy. 101. We camped at Laguna Seca Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

We came off season and the second road was closed forcing us to climb a sixteen % grade to get to the campsite. The campsites were on a hill, very small, and very difficult to get into. Although we were told the race track would be quiet, we were on curve 5 and almost everyday there was a driving school happening with lots of screeching tires. If you are a race fan, you might love it. We did not. There is also a gun range next door and the sound of guns happened most weekend mornings. Hookups are electric and water only and the dump station is very difficult to get into. The sites themselves were not clean with numerous beer caps littered throughout. The bathrooms were clean and the staff was very helpful, but we would never stay here again. We would like to thank the work kamper who let us exit via the closed road to avoid a sixteen percent grade on the way down. We camped at Laguna Seca Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful mountain top views. 105 wide sites with water/electric hookups. One easy access dump for all. On the Laguna Seca Raceway but is surprisingly quiet during the day and absolutely peaceful at night.

RV and tent camping allowed. Dogs allowed. Fort Ord National Monument trail head. Ten minutes from Monterey and all its activities, restaurants and shopping. Monthly bike riding on the track. We camped at Laguna Seca Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Easy to get to on Highway 68 from either 101 or Highway 1. You'll see a sign that says Laguna Seca Recreation Department. Head up the hill to the ranger station. Call for reservations: 888-588-2267 or stop by.

Close to Monterey. Sites are gravel and fairly level with a picnic table and fire ring. The restrooms / showers were clean, but there's no privacy in the showers. The water only stayed on for about 25 seconds. After holding the button in to try and keep it on, the water would then not stop for the longest time. There was no light switch in the restrooms; I think the lights were on a timer. The drive up to the campground from the entrance is steep, but the views and breeze are great. The base rate is $37 per night, but they charged us an extra $2 per dog per night. That made the overall nightly rate a bit pricey, but we'd definitely stay here again. We camped at Laguna Seca Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Spent 3 nights here. Over all it was fine. The bathrooms were clean "enough" for a county / state park. The spaces on the south and east side have great views of the Carmel Valley. The spaces on the north side are going to be noise from the race track. You can hear the gun range but pretty much only pops, not annoying at all. We were in the Chaparral area. There is a nasty turn from the unmanned ranger station at the entrance. So swing wide or go up the road 50 yards to a nice wide turn around and come back at the turn from the opposite direction. Yes there is a short (maybe 3/8th of a mile) 16% grade to get up to the park. We were there over a weekend and never saw a park ranger. You are about 10 miles from Monterrey, easy drive. We camped at Laguna Seca Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

No Wi-Fi or sewer only minuses to this park. Thirty three/night is with senior discount. There was a notice on one bathroom indicating the water had failed testing for arsenic. Fortunately, we didn't need to fill. That said, clean grounds, peaceful, very scenic. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Laguna Seca Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

We arrived here for an overnite the day before the Mazda Races. The park is right on the track. Great views of area. 16% uphill grade coming in so beware. GPS will take you 1/4 mile south so keep going. Comes up fast and little signage. So for the bad news. County won't take reservations except for the race attendees so if you pick an open spot during a race it may not be actually open. I would stay here again for an overnighter or for the races. Beautiful campsites overlooking the rolling hills. Fun to watch the racing schools cars skirting around the track. A little far from Carmel, Monterey, etc., but the beauty makes up for the drive. This is one of our favorite campgrounds and always our first choice when in the area. We camped at Laguna Seca Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a decent park, but there are some issues. Many of the sites are very narrow and close together. Some of the sites are very out of level and slope towards the back of the site. Leveling a motor home on one of these would be nearly impossible. The sites very near the gun range next door can be loud with gunfire. The campground itself is very hilly and a 16% grade leads up to the campground. The inside roads although paved tend to be very tight turns for rigs in the 35-45 foot range. The dump station would be difficult on a busy weekend as there is no collector lane to line up. Some of the sites are right on the race track, great for race fans but it was reported that those sites climb in price on race weekends. We were assigned a site that was supposed to hold our 35' foot rig, but we never would have been able to negotiate the turn into the site. We were allowed to pick any site that was open as it was a quiet weekend. We picked site #85 which was also the biggest and most level site in the campground. Site #10, a back in on the hill over looking the valley, was our second choice. I would stay here again, with careful site selection. We camped at Laguna Seca Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

This is a nice park. However we camped up in the "Can Am Loop and found that the showers were locked, the water hook ups had arsenic in them above the world health organization limits (10 ppb) their levels posted on the bathroom (also locked) water 13 ppb. I found this lack of information disconcerting. However the views were great. We had front window views of the cars on the race track spinning out on the hairpin turn. Dump station with a nice view of turn 5. Can't think of a nice place to stay in the area. The lack of showers and the water issue are all that keeps this from going up a step or two. This is a great park, close to everything. Great Views of the valley and race track. Quite off the road. Some weekends you can watch the boys play at learning to drive a race car at the driving school there. Only small draw back is the dump station is at the bottom of the hill.
