The park is a ghetto. Bodies everywhere, kids everywhere, skateboards, bikes, traffic everywhere. Sites are very small, we paid extra for a few feet more but no blackwater drain. They wanted over $200 a night for a site with a bit more room and a drain.

There are so many rules in this place it is ridiculous and they make you sign a disclaimer acknowledging that the park is dangerous!

I love a beer but there were a lot of loud, uncouth drunk people that were too visible and audible for it to be "family friendly". I counted over 30 people in the horseshoe shaped hot tub in the evening and the swimming pool had a lot of unidentified objects in it. The place really disgusted me on the first night.

The 2nd night they made my one-eyed father park his truck outside the camp because he couldn't find his ticket and the office was closed. The security guards were pretty rude. It took over an hour to find a space over half a mile away. I hope that made the security feel important.

That said, if you want facilities, they have everything. Laundry, shops, restaurants, pools, spas, boat hire, bike hire, performance stage etc etc. There is a beach with a buoyed-off swimming area. The beach looked pretty territorial with the whole of the beach kerbside covered by gazebos by 8am!

And I must say that the pools that were so disgusting the night before were clean by morning.

About a mile away round the bay there is a lovely public beach with trees and shade and lots of free parking. It's a great getaway from this site.

After so much noise all day the campsite was quiet after 11pm.

In summary, great if you like noise, bodies, arranged events, being crammed in. Awful if you like space, quiet and nature. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Camp in a different RV park in the hills and in the daytime go to the state beach just west of Campland, past the nature reserve

Overall this Park was one of the best we have stayed in that is a "beach" RV Park. First let me state the obvious which is a common situation at California "beach" RV Parks. TON'S OF PEOPLE!!! Yes, this is a VERY large RV Park. You will never be alone until you are inside your RV. But this is probably the best run, most organized RV Park we have stayed in. Activities for kid's of all ages. Campland has organized activities for kid's each day and each evening. Sports during the day and then a movie night, disco night, talent night, live band night pretty much something going on all the time. Not interested in participation? Then Campland has a private beach that is good for kid's of all ages. Want to sail a catamaran? Paddle board? Kayak? Jet ski? Yes, it's all here and available for rentals. However the rentals are not cheap. But all of the preceding are fun and the bay is a fantastic place to do water sports. There are multiple swim pools but these are busy too. Management and security is very good at this RV Park. The RV Park store is large and has a good assortment of things/food to buy. But back to the RV comments. The sites are narrow, depending on what you want to pay and what site you select if your RV has slides you will be close to other RV's. It looked like in our locations about 25% of the RV's were trailer rentals (delivered and set up for you) so if you don't have an RV of your own you can still go to Campland. A hot tip is to go with several families and establish your own "compound" which is great for families with friends. This RV Park is dog friendly so expect to see a lot of dogs (there are areas with grass for the dogs). Highly recommend but be prepared for crowds and spending money for onsite and offsite activities! We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots to do in San Diego (Midway aircraft carrier and other ship museums), zoo's, Legoland with great restaurants for all price ranges in the greater San Diego area.

The $80 rate was for the weekend, $60 for weekdays. We are a retired couple and this park is best suited for young families who would likely rate it higher because of the many amenities for children. The weekend was very noisy because of a car club activity and a loud social event whose music could be heard all over the park. Quiet hours do not begin until 11PM. Weeknights were quiet with fewer campers. WiFi signal strength was strong but the connection was slow and uses a website login which was not convenient. There is a wide variety of sites from grassy and well treed to the sandy asphalt parking area we were in nearer to the beach. There is a nice laundry, store, game room and BBQ restaurant. The beach area and landscaping were well tended. Some of the longer term RVs looked junky. This location is convenient to I-5 for easy access to San Diego activities. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

Really a nice location with it's own beach and a marina, very close to Pacific Beach, San Diego and to Sea World. Most sites are really tight with back to back power, water and sewer which meant I had to pull straight in and my windshield was looking at the back of a 5th whl. I opted for a Prefered site with a lot a room on both sides with a fence separating the sites, but it was very dusty. It was really full on the weekends with a lot of kids. Went through their orientation ..... they have a LOT of rules 4 pages worth ............... kinda takes the fun out of it. Oh one more point the electrical was always reading low 100 to 109 volts. We have to think hard if we were to stay here again. We stayed for a month it was cheaper that way. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great little store on site and a small cafe ......

We stayed for 4 nights including new Years Eve, and came away with mixed views of the campground. The actual site was big, but had no grass or even concrete so with rain hitting us the first night the dirt kept coming into the RV. The camp was full to the limit and the staff did a great job in keeping noise a minimum level after start of quiet hours without causing any trouble doing so. The restrooms and showers very not very clean and could certainly have been kept in a better state, and the for some reason the heaters were running at maximum power resulting in a sauna-like temperature in the especially the women's bathroom. The location was great with easy access to San Diego downtown, Mission Beach and the Interstate 5 without being too noisy. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

USS Midway was a great experience, and the 2-hour Harbour Cruise with Flagship Cruises can also be recommended

We are from Spain and we are making a trip through the USA. We started in March in Miami, Fl, and we finished in Los Angeles, CA. This has been the worst camping we've found, besides expensive. The best thing is really on the same coast with beach at the edge of the campsite. Worst: the amount of people there. It was in July, and camping plots, which seemed more like a parking lot than a campground. The first plot we had completely lacked privacy. We got another that we had seen that was free and it was better. Still and all the price was extremely high. There was loud music everywhere, and not referring to the activities every evening organized by the camp, but many people put loud music. After five days of the same filed a complaint because the cost of it with what is offered is not appropriate. We have to recognize that they contacted us and we have returned the money we had paid. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

This our third stay here. I've never had an issue with their Pet Friendly reputation. They've never given us a hassle over our lab mix. It has one good-sized decent dog park and two so-so dog runs. That's "pet friendly" in my book. Kids loved the pool and we didn't have much need for the beach. They had the floating platform at the beach. I'd advise against staying at the beach end of the park. Spots are cramped, noisy, and unattractive. The other end is *much* nicer in all respects…though we left right as the summer crowds were ramping up and I could see the level of activity increasing. We'll save some money next time and just find a place with pools only. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Travel Trailer.

Very disappointed in small size of campsites and impolite security guards. Park is not pet friendly and actively discourages dogs. Location is good - lots to do in San Diego, but this park is exceptionally crowded and unruly. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Travel Trailer.

I know I am in the minority with this review, but I will not stay here again. This place holds good childhood memories, but I feel differently as an adult. I've stayed in many campgrounds that are giant paved parking lots, but this one takes the cake. Your neighbor is so close that stepping out the door places you in his site. Our neighbors blasted music at all hours and it appears that many children run around unattended-many very young in age. The speed limit is not obeyed and I felt unsafe walking my kids through the grounds for fear they'd get hit. We came to enjoy time with our children but what we observed were foul mouthed drinking adults that appeared to be reliving high school and college. And it wasn't only in our row. I know that works for some-I'm not judging. I just wanted others to know that everyone has their own definition of "family friendly." This one is not ours. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

Beautiful setting, well maintained, clean, but expensive park next to Mission Bay. Wide, paved roads, but narrow sites. Nice off leash dog park. Most sites paved and level, except no-sewer dirt sites. Wireless internet is difficult to connect and slow when park is full. Friendly staff. Rate is Good Sam weekday. Fun place to "camp" for the weekend. I paid 120 a night after tax for a preferred spot with a local discount. Worth the money in my opinion. They had a live cover band each night that was great. The park is very secure with lots of helpful employees around. The only ding I'm giving them is the free for all running of children through the park. Be careful getting in your spot and out and there's nothing to worry about after that. They have a nice private beach and plenty of water toys to rent. They also rent bikes and such if you like. They have a BBQ restaurant, ice cream shop and fully stocked, reasonably priced (for a campground) store. They also have an ATM available. There was also scheduled activities like dodgeball, which was a huge hit for all ages. If you're looking for peace and quiet this isn't the place. If your looking for a big party type atmosphere for the whole family look no further! We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

The review only allows 2 digits, we happily paid $151 per night plus taxes for 4 adults and two children. This is a Family beach resort. We have been returning for many years, and we chose our site for its view of Sea World's fireworks and view of the bay. The grandchildren enjoyed the daily and nightly activities. Lots of places to safely bike ride. A very well maintained dog park. Helpful staff. I really do not have a single complaint. But again this is a FAMILY park. I would not pick this campground for a quiet stay at the beach. Children everywhere. The 11pm quiet time is strictly enforced. The kids love this place we, as grandparents, enjoyed every moment with the kids. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

Rate is for 6 people in a select site. Campland is a zoo, but it grows on you! I generally like my peace & quiet and this isn't the place for that. During the day, there are kids everywhere. They generally have the run of the place and do not expect them to look for vehicles before using the streets as they wish. There is so much to do at this park, kids will never be bored. We've stayed here twice for my son's football tournaments and both years invited the team over for a get-together. Kids run around freely, you're never worried about them, and adults get to relax and spend time together. As crazy as this place is during the day time, quiet hours are strictly enforced and nights are very peaceful. During our recent stay, there was a good band or DJ every night at Central Park. End each day by walking down to the beach and watching Sea World fireworks across Mission Bay. Love this place! We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

This is definitely a kid-friendly park, but that is about all that they pay attention to. For some reason, they placed us in the middle of other RVs that were longterm stays. As a result, there was lots of "stuff" in the various RV sites that these longterm visitors had installed. The rules state that sites are to be neat yet the feel is clutter. Not only is there junk sitting around, but there is trash such as empty boxes that could be cleaned up. In addition, we were charged $6 per day for our dogs, yet they use no resources, so we feel that our stay here was way overpriced for what we received. We would not stay here again. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.
