This arguably one of the best locations in San Diego. Beachfront with great facilities, but still close enough to run out to a store or restaurant. It's a great park, just not for us. The sites are extremely narrow and so are the roads. When we arrived, both sites on either side of were occupied as were the sites across the road from us. It took my husband lots of jockeying to manage to get our 26 foot - no slide out - Toy Hauler into the space. To the point where all the neighbors helped spot him and were amazed that he managed to get it into the spot. The sites were set up so that water and sewer were on one side of the site and the electricity was on the other. No matter what, something wasn't reaching. We ended up having to go buy a water hose and not hooking up sewer. The site was only half paved, so the camper entrance was in the dirt, but the truck was on asphalt (and it had to be parked way back to reach the electricity) The park is very kid oriented and full of kids - which is great if you have kids. But, as an adult trying to have a relaxing experience it became a little wearing at times. (Hours of kids shrieking tends to get old for me.) I do think the park would benefit from creating an adult only area. The park, the cafe is good (if slow), they have a great bar, bands at night and is clean. One of the very cool things is the "Super Site" - it's a private fenced in site with it's own jacuzzi and multiple hook ups. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Travel Trailer.

If you like crowds then this is the place for you. There are all kinds (based on the rates and seasons $45/$359) of site "types". We stayed in what they call "standard". It had full hookups but we were lucky that our electric cord could reach from the utility cab up past the nose of our 33ft RV. WTH? The electric hook up was at the front of the site and the sewer was at the back. We might have been in a "buddy" site, I say this because our door faced out to the neighbor's door, but we didn't know our neighbors and they were smoking cigars. We were packed in like sardines. So, they had a bout 12 people over at a time and we just stayed inside with our guests. Cozy. Our outside cabinets move with our slide and this is the ONLY time that has ever been a problem. Once we were in the site, there was NO way to open them. Our section was full of complete full on partiers. They have a noise curfew at 10:00 but they do not enforce it until 11:00 or so. People left food laying here and there, so watch your pets. Chicken wings, tacos, it was not tidy. They have employ a HUGE staff and they do the best they can to clean up after all the slobs. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

This is a campground you pay for location which is at the center of San Diego on Anza Bay. The nightly rate change according to the day of the week so is signing a set price per night is difficult . It has numerous amenities and is really designed for families. We brought our four-year-old granddaughter and it was perfect as there were many children, two pools and a sandy beach area. In addition there are numerous activities for older children including a skatepark, game room, ice cream parlor and basketball court. Our site itself was cement and had no room for any outside activity or sitting at all. Our particular site did not have a fire pit, although many did. Some of the back and sites would have worked for larger units and they did have grass areas . The entire park was very clean and there were numerous workers constantly changing garbage and cleaning. Wi-Fi was marginal. Cable TV was excellent with a large number of stations. The bay area itself is good for children or people who would like to paddle board or learn to kayak as there is no surf. There is little place to walk pets, but there is a large fenced-in leash-free area. during the summer months they have a free shuttle to the Balboa Park area which would be very convenient as parking there is very difficult. We would stay again if we we brought grandchildren but would stay elsewhere if it was just the 2 of us. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Fifth Wheel.

Campland on the Bay has been around for decades. It is a well managed park but some of the sites are tight as when the park was first designed RV's were smaller w/o slides. The campground is very kid friendly. There is an onsite cafe which actually has a decent Cheeseburger and fries. If you have the time, monthly rates are the most economical. There is a boat launch/marina and a nice sandy beach. We have never been here in the summer but understand it is very congested. The one thing we don't like is the fact that the pools/Jacuzzi's are heavily chlorinated. More so than any park we have ever stayed at. We also would like to see one of the Jacuzzi's designated 'adults' only. All in all ia very nice place to stay while in San Diego. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Travel Trailer.

This is a family friendly park that has become an annual tradition for our family. The private beach and the close proximity to things to see and do in San Diego is excellent. We really liked exploring the Old Town and there's a park within walking distance with a playground if you have kids. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

We checked in on a Friday evening to discover that we were checking into a blacktop parking lot with a large campsite-wide party going on. The first clue should have been ear plugs at the check in counter! So they've created a party scene overlaid with lots of rules to keep us little campers in line. Be prepared for daily announcements over a camp wide speaker system telling you what activity is about to start, specials at the bar and restaurant and then just as you might be trying to go to sleep they end the night with announcements telling you to go to bed!

We stayed here while my husband attended a conference so for convenience it was perfect but this is anything but a camping experience. No grass or trees in the main camping area so if you'd like to feel like you are actually in the outdoors be sure to pay the extra for this amenity and book along the outer edges where you'll get a little spot of green - but DON'T put anything on it! The sites are super narrow and have sections of fencing between them as an attempt to provide some privacy that really doesn't work as you end up facing your neighbors due to alternating pull in or back in sites. Great for camping with friends and family but not so great if you don't want to sit and watch your neighbors play LED lit corn hole with a gang of friends 6' from where you are trying to enjoy your dinner.

There are lots of "NO" signs everywhere just to be sure that you fall in line with the myriad rules.

Dogs must be on a leash and the dog "run" is the size of a postage stamp. Even on a rainy night with no one else outdoors the "ranger" made me stop playing ball with our dog on an empty field and ride in the rain outside of the campground to get him some exercise.

The ONLY reason we would return to this campground would be if it were the only option and we had to be in San Diego.

In summary I guess its safe to say that this urban style campground just wasn't our style but it may be yours especially if you have kids. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

If you're looking for a quiet getaway, this is NOT the place to be! (LOL) This is a family park with MANY kids running around and it can be loud. But it's an extremely well run and organized park. Yes, it's pricey but it's right on Mission Bay, some of the most expensive real estate in the USA. The beach is great. Rent boats or other water toys. You're packed in but they are VERY well organized. I had plenty of room for my slideouts and my awning. Lots of activities for young and old. Very clean. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

Is this park's sites very tight? Yes. Is it loud with kids playing and live bands playing at night. Yes again! Should you stay here if you are looking for a quiet, childless getaway? Absolutely not!

During the 15 years we have been doing this, I have not come across a park, such as this one, with so many amenities! This is, hands down, a kid and family friendly park! There was always something going on for the kids! And for the adults, they have live bands on weekend nights! We saw a Van Halen cover band while we were there that was excellent! Thought I was back in high school!

There facilities re very clean, I.e pool, bathrooms, shower, etc. They have a dog run as well. And their playground was enormous and fenced in. I felt very safe with my 4 and 5 year old.

We are on the tail end of our Summer on the west coast. And this was the first park we stayed at on the coast and so far, nothing has compared to this park. We are longing to go back! We stayed there for 2 weeks, and had a great time.

Yes te sites are tight. However, we had plenty of room in our back in site for our 41" fifth wheel. And room to deploy all 5 slides and awning. Our site was at the edge of Mission Bay, with a wonderful view of downtown San Diego. We were also treated ichthyosaurs to a firework show sponsored by Sea World! Which is right across the bay and about 3 miles from the park!

Shopping is close. And there is to any road noise from I-5. Which is about 1.5 miles away! I cannot say enough about this park! Again, if you are not looking for a party type atmosphere, this is not the park for you. If you are, and want to stay within a close proximity to the sites of the city, all while enjoying the park, then this is the place for you. A must for RV'ers with kids!

Make your reservations early, as this park fills up quite fast. And there were not too many folks 'living' here, as they do have a policy to combat this! We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Fifth Wheel.

I have heard about Campland On The Bay for over 20 years and this was our first visit. We only stayed one night. It is in a beautiful location on Mission Bay in San Diego. From what I saw of the campsites, I was a little disappointed. It amounted to very little more than an asphalt parking lot with hook-ups and some surrounding trees and grassy areas. For the price, I would have expected a whole lot more. But, that said, people go there to enjoy the waters of Mission Bay instead of sitting idly at camp. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

We have been coming here for about 5 years and have already made our reservation for the following year. We really enjoy this campground for the beach, the bay, the location and that is why we continue to return. It is right on Mission Bay, only 5 minutes to Pacific Beach, close to shopping, right on the bike trail and close to anything you want to do in San Diego. The sites are level and the hook-ups are easy. The bathrooms are always clean although there are leaves in the sites. The internet was fine but not high-speed. The whole park could use a bit of freshening up like paint but for a beachfront park, this is pretty good. Someone said there were rats but we have never seen rats nor lots of insects in the 7 months over the 5 years we have been here. The price above reflects the monthly rate. We have stayed here and will definitely stay again. Others continue to return year after year and we look forward to seeing our neighbors again. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

We like Torrey Pines, the glider port, the Embarcadero, the missions, the carrier Midway, the Maritime Museum, most of the museums at Balboa Park, Birch Aquarium, Point Loma and the National Monument. We've taken the ferry to Coronado and walked to the Hotel Del. One year we took an overnight trip to Catalina and this year we took an overnight trip to Julian. We would recommend both. We just like this area and will return next winter.

This is a great park. For the kids they have daily activities. Two swimming pools, and a sauna. Miniature golf, a restaurant and store. Great bicycle and walking trails around Mission Bay. For adults they have great activities for kids.

(Lot spacing is nearby with both sunny/open and some shade sites. Site surface is a concrete pad and asphalt featuring a fire ring, picnic table and patio.) We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Fifth Wheel.

By far the worst! Traveled across the U.S. Had a wonderful experience until we got to Campland on the Bay. Overpriced rundown dirt pit!

Rude staff, no Internet, packed in like sardines, on a flooded dirt lot that when it rained it washed into our space. Rats galore. Staff is aware and does nothing. Ant and fly infested. "Free Internet" (how can nonexistent be free?) No one should come here! We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

The park is a ghetto. Bodies everywhere, kids everywhere, skateboards, bikes, traffic everywhere. Sites are very small, we paid extra for a few feet more but no blackwater drain. They wanted over $200 a night for a site with a bit more room and a drain.

There are so many rules in this place it is ridiculous and they make you sign a disclaimer acknowledging that the park is dangerous!

I love a beer but there were a lot of loud, uncouth drunk people that were too visible and audible for it to be "family friendly". I counted over 30 people in the horseshoe shaped hot tub in the evening and the swimming pool had a lot of unidentified objects in it. The place really disgusted me on the first night.

The 2nd night they made my one-eyed father park his truck outside the camp because he couldn't find his ticket and the office was closed. The security guards were pretty rude. It took over an hour to find a space over half a mile away. I hope that made the security feel important.

That said, if you want facilities, they have everything. Laundry, shops, restaurants, pools, spas, boat hire, bike hire, performance stage etc etc. There is a beach with a buoyed-off swimming area. The beach looked pretty territorial with the whole of the beach kerbside covered by gazebos by 8am!

And I must say that the pools that were so disgusting the night before were clean by morning.

About a mile away round the bay there is a lovely public beach with trees and shade and lots of free parking. It's a great getaway from this site.

After so much noise all day the campsite was quiet after 11pm.

In summary, great if you like noise, bodies, arranged events, being crammed in. Awful if you like space, quiet and nature. We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

Overall this Park was one of the best we have stayed in that is a "beach" RV Park. First let me state the obvious which is a common situation at California "beach" RV Parks. TON'S OF PEOPLE!!! Yes, this is a VERY large RV Park. You will never be alone until you are inside your RV. But this is probably the best run, most organized RV Park we have stayed in. Activities for kid's of all ages. Campland has organized activities for kid's each day and each evening. Sports during the day and then a movie night, disco night, talent night, live band night pretty much something going on all the time. Not interested in participation? Then Campland has a private beach that is good for kid's of all ages. Want to sail a catamaran? Paddle board? Kayak? Jet ski? Yes, it's all here and available for rentals. However the rentals are not cheap. But all of the preceding are fun and the bay is a fantastic place to do water sports. There are multiple swim pools but these are busy too. Management and security is very good at this RV Park. The RV Park store is large and has a good assortment of things/food to buy. But back to the RV comments. The sites are narrow, depending on what you want to pay and what site you select if your RV has slides you will be close to other RV's. It looked like in our locations about 25% of the RV's were trailer rentals (delivered and set up for you) so if you don't have an RV of your own you can still go to Campland. A hot tip is to go with several families and establish your own "compound" which is great for families with friends. This RV Park is dog friendly so expect to see a lot of dogs (there are areas with grass for the dogs). Highly recommend but be prepared for crowds and spending money for onsite and offsite activities! We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.

We stay at Campland with our three daughters every year. It is very kid friendly and our kids always have so much fun. We have been reserving our site way ahead of time so that we can be close to the beach. We enjoy the movie nights, talent show and the ice cream parlor. They also have a fitness center with a couple of treadmills and weights. They are always busy so reserving ahead of time is important! We camped at Campland On The Bay in a Motorhome.
