The park is a large black top parking lot facility with some trees for shade. All sites are back in. There are two large restroom/shower facilities that are dated but well maintained and clean. Trash cans are numerous and convenient and emptied each morning. Available dog walking area (very large) and close to Fiesta Island (very, very large dog area on Bay). Fire pits/wood available for rent. Quiet hours are 10pm to 8am. Park is fenced with security check in gate. Swimming area/beach (no life guard on duty) is 10 yards from entrance gate. Security patrols 24/7. Boat launch available and of course plenty of fishing. Large public park next door. Only negative is the large number of homeless individuals (with related problems-drugs/mental illness/disease) in Mission Bay area. We camped at Mission Bay RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This is basically an overpriced parking lot on the bay. The location was great - but there were old broken down RV's parked on the road most of the way in, and De Anza Cove is a depressing ghost town of mobile homes. We enjoyed riding our bikes around the bay and having a place to walk the dog. All of our neighbors were friendly. Not an impressive park - but convenient to Pacific Beach and Mission Bay. The speed bumps in and out of the park are terrible, especially in a Class A motorhome!! We camped at Mission Bay RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is basically a large asphalt-type parking lot with hookups but has trees shading the area. It is SUPER convenient to Mission Bay itself. Ideal location to go to major San Diego attractions. Probably the best 'bet' as far as an RV park that is available in the area. We camped at Mission Bay RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great things to do: visit 'old town', take a boat tour of the bay, Sea World is right there, walk the 'bay trail' that is paved and right outside the gate of the RV park, travel to the many 'shore towns' near by and take in the 'local scene'. Try to avoid 'getting out' to do ANYTHING during rush hour traffic in the morning or late afternoon as it is TERRIBLE.

This entire De Anza Cove area is a has-been mish-mash of neglect and abandonment. The 700-space abandoned and delapitated trailer park that this park sits in the middle of is absolutely atrocious. The RV park roadways are cluttered with row after row of tow vehicles squeezed in front of inadequately-sized sites, making for a true eyesore. The shower/bathroom buildings are a throwback from a bygone era where everything was constructed of cinderblock like a cold and foreboding detention center. Staff routinely blocks the men's room doors open, regardless of the outside temps, making for a freezing cold shower experience and the water takes a full five minutes to warm up. The clubhouse and surrounding area are disgraceful and the community LP grill is filled with rust and spider webs. The adjacent public park is a favorite for the area homeless population, making for a very sketchy experience. Lock up all of your belongings if you value them. All dog owners are expected to use one rusty old urine-stained side gate to take their pets out for potty stops and the entire area reeks of aging dog pee. It is disgusting. Loud music, large party gatherings and inconsiderate weekend warrior neighbors just put the icing on the cake, making this an absolute "skip it" on our list. We camped at Mission Bay RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large park located on the north side of Mission Bay which is itself just north of downtown San Diego. It is a super nice location surrounded by Mission Bay Park and miles of walking/biking paths in both directions. The beach towns of Pacific Beach and Ocean Beach are close by. The RV park is not particularly impressive. It is a large square of asphalt with lines painted on it for side by side RV sites. All sites are back in with full hookups and a picnic table. The sites are small so if you have a neighbor you will be quite close. There are no amenities to speak of but there is 24 hour security. The bathrooms are not very well maintained but do get cleaned daily. There is free WiFi but it is spotty. On the plus side the security people and other staff are super friendly and helpful. We paid $40 per night on a monthly rate. We camped at Mission Bay RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This location is all about...well....location. A huge parking lot, with wide spaces but rows are tight. You will not be greeted at all, but given a list of rules. Worst internet connection we've had in 9 months of traveling, including tiny little towns. That said, it's a great location. Bike trails and lots of things to do very near here. What really angered me though, was being charged extra to park an additional vehicle overnight with absolutely no warning of the cost. Right after we left, we received an email informing us we had been charged for this. Would have been nice to know ahead of time. Over all, if you are willing to put the horrible greeting, extra charges, and lousy internet aside, there really is a lot to do in this area. My suggestion would be to look at other parks in the area first. We camped at Mission Bay RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We really enjoy the proximity to the beach and to Mission Bay Park, not to mention handy for everything you want to do in San Diego. The Snack Shack is GREAT for breakfast, lunch, and snacks (we only wish it was open more!) and we like the extra activities that were going on while we were there - Saturday night outdoor movie, putting lights on bikes some evenings. The security guards were great - helpful with all sorts of things (even not safety and security related), friendly, too. Cable TV and utilities were pretty good. Cellphone signal is marginal and wifi spotty, but we were pretty happy none the less. We have a small (24') motorhome and had no problem with parking nor with neighbors. We did not like the east bathhouse. Toilets seem to be stuck in willy-nilly and some of the stalls are so small you can't even open the door up fully as they run into the toilet. The shower stalls are small and in poor condition. The showerheads don't work well and leak, plus they are NOT ADA compliant (but neither are the shower stalls.) There are little benches outside the showers but the doors for privacy are by the showers, so the benches are out in the open. I cannot bring my wheelchair bound mom here as she couldn't use the toilets nor the showers. And, they weren't very clean. There were a lot of spider webs and bugs about, plus I always found a toilet or two in need of cleaning and/or flushing. Once I left the toilet stall with a spider in my hair. We did not like the fact that pop up canopies were left on the beach, most continuously for the entire time we were there. It made the beach less usable for those of us who did not bring canopies. Most were so closely packed that there was no room in between them. Plus, we had to pull kayaks to the beach and the people under canopies did not like us walking through. Some people's belongings tended to blow around due to the wind, so leaving things overnight shouldn't be allowed. We camped at Mission Bay RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This campground is all about location! It is essentially a parking lot filled with as many RVs as possible. It is very hard to get into sites due to the crowding. That said, the security people were very good and the many trash cans were always neat and ready to use. Restrooms were clean, however the handicapped parking spaces in front of them needed to have a time limit or something so that they aren't used overnight. A truck was constantly parked by the one near our site making it nearly impossible to get our rig parked (it took 4 very knowledgeable neighbors 20 minutes to help us back and fill our way in). We camped at Mission Bay RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Check in was easy. Park was convenient to all of San Diego. Site was big enough accommodate MH, plus tow dolly and tow vehicle. Laundry area was clean and nice to use. Only downside was other campers spilling out into the street with trucks and grilles. We camped at Mission Bay RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is nothing but an asphalt car park. The shower/toilet facilities were disgusting. The surrounding delapidated old manufatured houses were like something out of a Hitchcock movie. We were there over Memorial Weekend and left early on the Sunday morning a day ahead of schedule. Pop ups that people left on the beach made it impossible to get to the water unless you walked through what was then someone elses space. This was also a problem on the RV park. Getting out with all the parked vehicles was a challenge as people were having to use the roadways as an extension of their site. Definitely can't recommend or would be willing to return. We had a week stay. Had a difficult time contacting park to adjust reservations before we even got here. Park is clean and everyone nice once I contacted them. Cable and wifi ok. Had trouble with wifi even as writing review. Lost water twice during one day due to construction nearby and no notice. Dogs barking were annoying. Not positive if we would return but not a lot of parks to choose from in area. Tight space with truck parking We camped at Mission Bay RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We loved our 1 month stay at Mission Bay. What made is special to us was the Bay Front View, so my rating is based upon that. We stayed at site 44 and experienced sunset views every night. What we also enjoyed was the 1 mile walk around the bay with a nice paved trail. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful as well as the security guards, left bikes out and never worried about it. We work full-time from our RV and are dependent on internet connection so we were a little disappointed with Verizon, but AT&T was acceptable. There are plenty of biking paths and parks and it's so close to downtown San Diego and Coranado, we will be back at one of the bay side sites. We camped at Mission Bay RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Stayed for 31 nights arriving in March and departing second week of April. This park is ok. Mostly asphalt with just enough trees to make backing our 45' MH into spot challenging. A lot of big pickup trucks parked along/partially in the street contributed to that as well. Good Verizon connection phone and MIFI. Wifi was essentially nonexistent during normal hours. Satellite hooked up just fine. There is a former mobile home community surrounding the RV park that has been abandoned. No movement or demolition underway just yet which made walking in the area along the bay simply superb. Inside the park, doggie relief areas consisted of the small squares of dirt around the trees mentioned above or the "Pet Stop" which is too small to be effective. Security for the park is good as well with a guarded entrance and it's completely fenced. Hookups are the smaller threaded pipes for sewer.....water and electrical are toward the back of the spot but no problem to reach. Getting into the park from I5 is no problem. Folks at the desk were excellent. This park offers recycling which is very convenient and appreciated. Good place to stay in the San Diego area. We camped at Mission Bay RV Resort in a Motorhome.

For RVers needing to stay in the San Diego area, this is the best there is. Large, convenient, clean, secure, well managed, pet friendly. Power well placed, easy hookup. At rear of space. Sewer well placed, easy hookup. Drivers side of space, about mid point. But still, the best part of this place remains the ladies in the office. They get the job done while being friendly and helpful. We camped at Mission Bay RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This park is county owned and operated. They have a maximum stay limit and other rules. The park is extremely tight for larger rigs. We could barely get parked here. The RV park is really just a huge paved parking lot with little landscaping, so be prepared for that. The county park adjoins the RV park and is huge with lots of recreation activities available.
