While this park has initial visual appeal, the park has many permanent residents, and their guests are some of the most unsavory and dangerous characters you will find anywhere. What is worse is that park management turns a blind eye on illegal activities. The Sheriffs won't deal with the problems. If you don't want to see low life riff raff cruising slowly by your campsite sizing you up, find another place to stay. You will find these people at the pool areas drinking alcohol with blaring boom boxes, with the occasional drunken brawling taking place. Is this where you want to stay with your family? Probably not. We camped at East Shore RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you stay here, insist on being in a space overlooking the lake. The park reserves these only for short term stays. Therefore you will be insulated from the full timers in the other sections.

Have stayed at this park about once a year for past 6 years or so. It is beautiful and grounds are perfect. However, they have let so many full time residents into the park, most who have piles of junk around their rv, that it has seriously made this park no longer a place to stay. It is really unfortunate because the location and grounds are great. The permanent residents though are really having a huge negative impact. Too much junk and trash over too many spaces. I will not return. We camped at East Shore RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Stayed here on a road trip to California. This was a great place to stay. We got there, and they upgraded us to a site that overlooked the valley and lake. Sites were very level, and the park was very clean. Staff was friendly. Park is on north side of LA in San Dimas, so outside the hustle of LA, but close enough that you can spend time at the beaches and exploring the city. We camped at East Shore RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Expensive. No internet. Some very nice sites, depending which part of the park you are located. There are a lot of permanent/long term folks living there. If it wasn't for the fact that our son lives in San Dimas, we wouldn't stay there. We camped at East Shore RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

East Shore is connected to the Raging Waters water park, and is owned by the county. It is one of the closest ones you will find close to LA County Fairgrounds, and LA proper. We have stayed here before, but it has been a few years. We were kind of surprised how much it has turned into a "long term" rental park. A small section of the park is reserved for transient guests, but about 80% is long term. We paid a weekly rate of $329 a week, which breaks down to about $47 a night. It is full hook up, and some of the sites are on a hill overlooking the reservoir at Frank G Bonelli Park. It is also right next door to Bracket Field, a county airport for smaller planes. The sites can be pretty sloped, so if you come, bring blocks to level with. There is a pool and some stuff for the kids, but there isn't much in the way of maintenance, so parts are getting a bit worn out. If fact when we got to our site, it was covered in screws, nails, and various debris. We spent about 10 minutes cleaning it off before we could pull the rig in. The restrooms are handicapped accessible, but could also use some modernizing. We used our own Wifi, but there may have been some offered if you went to the office. In spite of being on a hill, our wifi struggled a bit, both T-mobile and Verizon, but that could have been just positioning. Interestingly, there is a 2 week maximum for staying in a site (if you are not a permanent resident). After 2 weeks you have to move to a different site. It's an OK park if you need to stay, but it didn't feel like a good long term place to stay. We camped at East Shore RV Park in a Motorhome.

Have stayed here numerous times over the years but things have changed there for the worst. It has become a place for fulltime/long term residents. Regular campers are stuck next to them, some with permanent structures like storage sheds and shop equipment. And worse, various neighbors were allowed to play boom boxes and be loud after quiet hours, until midnight. And campsites were allowed to cram as many vehicles as possible. This created a very difficult situation when departing, while pulling the trailer. Many cars stuck out into the road on both sides. In fairness, the Asst. Manager contacted us after my wife complained to the office on our departure. He stated that they were aware of the issues with long term residents and were moving them all to their own loops, leaving 4 loops strictly for transient guests and offered us two free Premium sites. But we live over 1200 miles away so just 2 free nights isn't sufficient compensation. Bottom line, we will never return. We lived in the area for many years and return to the area to visit family and friends. But we'll find some other place to stay since we dont feel the rules are enforced there, even after the moving of residents. We camped at East Shore RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice county park, with RV park overlooking the lake. We were in C loop and had a great view. Big wide paved sites with full hookups, cable TV had lots of channels. This place is well-maintained. Not a speck of trash anywhere, everything in great shape. I would complain about the high price, but there are few options in southern California and this park really was worth it. Closest campground to Pasadena, but still a slog on the 210. Great views of the lake. Best spots are on the C loop 30 to 35.

Didn't have trouble getting a good weekday site. Weekends is a different story. We were there Monday through Thursday. If we wanted to stay Friday we were going to have to move to a much less desirable site squeezed between two other RVs. That said, the view was fantastic. Good walking for the dog. Plenty of room to back in to the site. We could have stayed hooked up if we wanted to. However, the roads got tight in the evenings when a few too many people tried to park, often extending into the roads. Lots of long term residents. As others have said, avoid the F section. Tight access on the roads and sites squeezed together. We camped at East Shore RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

It is getting almost impossible to come into this park and stay for more than a few nights. Lots of full-time people, and lots of kids running around, so watch your driving. We did get a space for two weeks, but that is as long as you can stay in one spot. If available, you have to move every two weeks. We had to make reservations way in advance, and just lucked out that there was a space available. Very nice park with views of mountains and Puddingstone Reservoir. Nice laundry and store. Don't recommend you let them put you in Section F. Very tight back-ins and right on top of each other. We camped at East Shore RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Costco, Walmart, and grocery stores are all nearby. Take the Fairplex exit off the 10 Freeway and come in that way. There is a small airport nearby so be prepared for planes. Huntington Library in Pasadena and Downtown Los Angeles are not far away. Arboretum in Arcadia is nice. Pomona Fairgrounds are right next door with a nice display of very large train engines, which is free.

We chose this location due to being near family for visiting. Not worth the price but then this is LA. Our stay was miserable because of ants that invaded our coach. It was a constant battle to kill hundreds of ants several times a day. After seeing the ants in the coach we noticed that there were several empty ant traps in the space and then noticed the ant mounds. We notified the office and were offered to move but at a higher price. When we said we needed to move because of their problem they could care less. We were told there are ants all over the park and the we are in nature. We will not return. Our site was fairly spacious but severely out of level. Other sites are very close to each other. We camped at East Shore RV Park in a Motorhome.

This place seems to be our half point where driving from Arizona to Northern Cal. We have been here several times and feel it is one of the best RV parks in the area. There is no on-site restaurant but there are a couple 50's dinners nearby. The park has a nice food store and RV supplies. Although some sites may be close together there are many of thing that are very big. In the summer this place is usually booked solid for weekend stays 2 months out. Great views of the small airport, lake and mountains. We camped at East Shore RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A nice resort for being so close to LA. I have stayed on the bluff as well as the lower level next to the lakes backwater and both were great. Beware of the animals prowling at dusk, skunks and racoons are prevalent. It would be of help if the staff would cover all trash cans to keep the varmints back. We found this to be a good park for sight seeing in LA. We stayed here 3 nights and drove into the city. It is about a 45 min. drive on I-10 freeway.(Expect bad traffic jams, leave plenty of time!) We were in Site C-41. great site overlooking the lake. Quiet, with a southern view of the sky. Both Verizon and T-Mobile signals good. Park cable a bit fuzzy on some channels had plenty of channels and there is good OTA. No wifi. Sites have nice grass for rover. Site is asphalt, mostly level, did have to use a board under one wheel. (but I am fussy) FHU were in good location. Electric and water correct. We had a great view over the lake from this site. Site was an easy back in with plenty of room for the toad. I would check the camp map as the sites vary. There are a lot of full time people in the park, but along the lake it seems to be short term rentals. Did not find the park to be loud at night, usually saw no one when walking the dog. There are security patrols at the camp, and they do tell you not to leave items out. We had no problem. There are trash cans at each site. We unhooked our toad at the site. Many unhooked at check in. There is a nice camp store here and they do sell wine. Thought the laundry was on the expensive side. All in all a good place to visit the city. Most all of the campgrounds around LA are expensive. Would stay here again if we come back to the area. We camped at East Shore RV Park in a Motorhome.

Leave plenty of time if going to see LA there always seemed to be large traffic jams and lots of slow traffic. We had to almost triple our expected time into and out of the city, even on Saturdays and Sundays. If sight seeing in LA go in early before the tour buses (usually around 10 am)
