Park has large paved spots, patio area, fire pit, and picnic table. Coin operated showers. Although the pool had outside showers to rinse off the chlorine, to use as part of your pool fee. The pool at the park is like a community pool. $3. per person per session of 2 1/2 hours. Lots of lounge chairs under a tarp for shade. Nothing on the County Park website said fee for swimming so it was disappointing to have tired, hot kids find out they had to pay to cool off. We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

There is a Nature Center and on Saturdays in July and August they have a bat talk at dusk and we got to see the bats emerge from their bat box.

Cachuma Lake park is very large and has a lot of natural beauty. Well run, clean, and quiet. Thank you for that. That said they have spent a LOT of of money on improvements no one uses - like wasting funds. And you can't access the lake so they have two pools. A sad substitute. We may go back simply for the locale and other attractions in the vicinity. It is a very busy campground. We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

The park has all types of spaces but this review refers to the full hook up area which use to be a trailer park. It was built on a slope but there was no attempt to tier or level the sites so most if not all have some type of slope requiring some sort of blocking to get level. The interior roads are paved & wide enough to maneuver larger RV's. All of the sites are back-ins. The parking pads are broken concrete in poor condition. Distance and grassy areas establish privacy between the sites. The full hook ups include water, sewer & electricity. Most all of the sites are 30 AMP. Only a handful have 50 AMP service. Those are difficult to find and use as the park doesn't assign them you have to ask for them. The sewer connections were generally at the ground level so it was easy to establish a downhill flow. It seems most of the sites had an outside table but no fire rings/pits. The park offers extended stay rates. From about November to mid March there was no lawn care so the grass got very high making the sites difficult to use. There were quite a few trees scattered throughout the park and around the perimeter so satellite reception would be dependent upon your site. No cable. Only 5 Broadcast channels received with roof mounted antenna which included only 1 of 4 major networks. The park experienced a 3 day power outage in January when night time temperatures were forecasted to get down below freezing. It was difficult to get much information from the park staff as they were difficult to find and did not go around to the few campers to update or even check on them. The designated fenced pet area but it was in a far corner of the park making it a long walk from the full hook up area. Plus the surface was dry grass making it uninviting to walk a dog. There were bag dispensers and collection stations for waste in the fenced pet area but the dispensers were empty. Very poor considering the park charges a $5 fee per pet per night. We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

We stayed at Lake Cachuma on December 27-30, 2016. We were pleased to see that the park was clean and each site was level with a concrete pad and patio. The paved roads are nice and wide! There is a $2 fee per pet per day. The lake is really low due to the drought CA has been experiencing over the last few years.

The park has a well-stocked general store with a gas station, a good-size dog park divided into two sections, a swimming pool (closed during the winter season) and one of the best nature centers. The store and nature center were within 100 yards of our site!

As the weekend came closer, the park filled up quickly! I'm posting pictures, so take a look! We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

We have been camping at Cachuma Lake for years. We have always had a great experience except for the last few years. Our BBQ did not have a grate on it and they could not find one in the entire park. The restrooms were dirty and lacked electricity and the showers were filled with spiders. If you bring an inflatable mattress, forget trying to find a place to fill it. The store said they used to have an outlet, but it was vandalized so much they removed it. I hope someone takes all my concerns to heart because there a many families that would love to continue to camp there. We're going to stay in a cabin next weekend. I hope it's clean. We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Tent.

The campground has been effected by the State and County cutbacks. Restrooms and Showers were so-so clean. The pool is only open from Noon to 5:30. So never got back to use it. Please note that is campground is 24 MILES from Santa Barbara. I was expecting 7 miles. We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Very spacious sites, but showing signs of lack of funding/maintenance. Staff friendly and helpful, doing a good job with what they have. Could not level the rig at the first site, was able to change to a pretty level 30A site instead. Utilities fine. Problem with first site was typical of many others: site have concrete pads, and concrete is cracked and has settled in those spots- if one or more tires are down in one of those areas, a struggle to level the rig. Many sites which still have concrete pads in good condition have significant back-to-front slopes: would be fine for a TT or 5th wheel, but more of a problem for MH. There are also trees at many of the site entrances, many of which block the entry/exit of the site.
This is an attractive area for camping, with a pool and many other activities for families. More crowded and somewhat noisy over the weekends. If you have a dog, the dangerous foxtail grass is abundant and almost unavoidable.

Fairly expensive to stay here (price above includes a $10/night extra fee for toad) for what you get, but then there are not many options in the general area. We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Stayed here a few days while visiting Santa Barbara. Rate includes an extra $10 per day for toad (!). Half-hour drive from Santa Barbara, but looks like best bet to have hookups and a decent environment near SB.. 30A electric was fine, water pressure around 28psi. Good spacing around sites, the one we had (119) has a concrete pad and was level; a difficult entry backing in because of way the entrance access was sited and the trees on both sides at entry. A good number of the other sites looked like they had a good slope to their pads. Lake was very low due to drought, but overall environment was scenic. Considering the alternatives, we will likely return. We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Nice place to stay!! We stayed in our RV for 4 nights, space #160. There was a huge tree overhead and a large space which accommodated our tow vehicle in front of the RV. Clean, quiet, tranquil, lots of nature, close to attractions. We really enjoyed our stay! We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

We stayed for 1 night after visiting Solvang during the day. The camp was in a fantastic location at the Cachuma Lake, and the site was big and very easy to get into with the RV.

The restrooms very clearly meant to be a backup for the RV as one of the wash basins didn't work at all, and there were no mirrors. There was no heating either, but given the fact that this was a natural park I guess that is to be expected - I don't know what the typical standard is in other similar parks. We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

First off, the lake is really low so RV sites are not close to the water as they once were. Price is pretty steep for an older park with no 50 amp service. Most sites are back in and do require some leveling. The sites are mostly concrete slabs, with many needing replacement. Good spacing, grass, between sites. Many trees, that do need trimming, but we were able to use our satellite dish. There are many sites that are big rig friendly. No Wi-Fi. Nice location to get to the Solvang area and Santa Barbara, but, in my opinion, overpriced for what you get. We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

This is the second time we camped here, last time was about three years ago. It's a great campground but there are a couple issues that came up this trip. First, the lake is down about 60 feet. I know this isn't the campgrounds fault, but it does make fishing a little challenging from the shore. You have to hike down a ways. Also, some of the fingers of the lake are now dried up. Really sad, actually. The second thing is they are removing all the nice cement fire rings, you have to bring your own now. Didn't make sense. Something about the big RV's running over them. With these two issues, I would expect the price to come down a little. $48 seems a little high. But if the rain comes and fills the lake up again, we will go back. We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

There was so much to do here that we didn't even take a planned side trip into Solvang. The drive up from Santa Barbara wasn't *that* bad if you're taking your time. Lots of trails, space, and shore to explore. Nice play structure for the kids. Saw a sign for a dog park, and there's a laundry facility on the campground map. Rented a boat and cruised the lake. Site was completely level. Minus one for general wear and tear, and minus one for fireproof firewood at the store. We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

New online reservation system 2013 for a majority of the park. Some sites are still first come first serve. This is a nice park with a large lake that now allows Kayaking. Incidental water contact only lake. Family friendly and lots of safe areas for kids to ride bikes. We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.
