The park is all gravel but very nice. Full hook-ups with plenty of room. Some shade at sites but open enough to get satellite reception. We camped at Sonoma County Fair Grounds in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The KOA in Petuluma offers a SF Tour for $79. Sounds expensive but I highly recommend it. The driver (John) grew up in SF and knows the city very well. You take a 28 pass van which can go places the big buses can't. He does not rush the tour and our tour went over about an hour. He is really good and if you get the chance, take it. Parking in SF is very expensive.

First night $17 and next $40 There are not many places to camp in the Sonoma Wine Region so we decided to stay at this park. It is located near the fairgrounds in Santa Rosa and our GPS located it perfectly. Thank goodness because there were a lot of turns. All sites are on stones and there is some shade from a tree in your site on the west side. All sites are full hookups with a picnic table and trash can next to it. Check in was easy with two hosts who were very nice. They do give discounts for Good Sam, Passport America (first night only) and some other discounts.

The Bathhouse and Laundry area need to be redone and updated there was no privacy in the showers. There are only two washers and dryers in a two by four area. It was very hot in there the two days we were at the park.

The advantage of the park is that it is near route 12 and the Sonoma Wine Trail which is beautiful with the vineyards. We really enjoyed our stay here. I was surprised it was quiet at night considering all the RV's that were there. We camped at Sonoma County Fair Grounds in a Motorhome.

A great bargain for anywhere in California, but especially in the heart of the Sonoma County wine country with full hookups. Our site rate was $35 (the second night, with half price Passport America rate available but just for the first night). It's a bare bones gravel parking lot with hookups, simple restrooms with showers, and accommodating staff. No atmosphere but fills a need for a place to sleep, and most sites were filled while we were there. We camped at Sonoma County Fair Grounds in a Motorhome.

We have family in the area and spent 6 days over Memorial Day weekend. It is a basic park, but can accommodate large rigs easily. It is centrally located to the wine country activities and there is not much in the way of parks to choose from. Staff was very accommodating. No cable or wifi, but Verizon worked well and it is an easy satellite hookup. Note a large dip at the entrance and they will require insurance information if it is your first time at the park. Park is closed to public during the fair in July. All in all a decent place to stay and we will stay again. We camped at Sonoma County Fair Grounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Lots to do in the Santa Rosa Area. It is about 35 miles to Bodega Bay and the Beach, 25-45 miles to the Sonoma Napa Valley, 45 miles to San Francisco. Lots of wineries and activities. Check out the Spinster Sisters for good breakfast/ lunch with farm to fork food.

This is basically a gravel parking lot with hook-ups. All sites were pull-thru. We reserved a full hook up, 50 amp but when we arrived they said they did not have a 50 amp site. They let someone stay longer on the site reserved for us and there were no other 50 amp sites available. Not really fair when you make a reservation but we managed with the 30 amp. The roads were very wide and our 45' motorhome had no problems negotiating the turns. The location was very good for seeing Santa Rosa and the surrounding area. Verizon worked well and we had good DirectTV Satellite reception. We camped at Sonoma County Fair Grounds in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Walk around 4th Street in downtown Santa Rosa. Bodega Bay is a must see. We saw whales migrating north right off the shore. Have clam chowder at the award winning Spud Point Clam Shack. There is a wonderful nature trail to walk along. Stop in the town of Sebastapol.

This county park RV park is in pretty bad shape. Restroom not only old but not kept clean. The camp host is pretty rude and interested very much to show RVers his power and ego. No wifi service and the Verizon mifi does not work so well here due to over crowded tower service. Just checking an email can take more than ten minutes. I do not think we will come back. We camped at Sonoma County Fair Grounds in a Motorhome.

This was a welcome port in a storm, literally. Waited out flooding in northern Sonoma county here. Very friendly, gracious hosts, ample room for pull thru's, and 2 cars overnight weren't a problem. 50/30 along back fence. Some small trees but mostly bare rock. Stayed 14 nights, the max (then must vacate for 30 days before returning). Centrally located but few amenities (very convenient to Fairgrounds across the street). Showers/ bathrooms clean but moldy. Pets--the rock underfoot is med size & very sharp-edged which made walking slow and painful. Again, grateful it's here, but eagerly waiting for flooding to recede from our favorite park! We camped at Sonoma County Fair Grounds in a Travel Trailer.

This could be a convenient location for the sights and wineries of Sonoma County, close to downtown Santa Rosa. Site was level and utilities all in good order. That's the good.

A number of permanent residents, with multiple vehicles and trash bags/junk piled in the vehicles. Some are neat, others not. Pickup truck with trash bags overflowing and above roof line; the related motorhome had similar in front seats, filling front window. "Rules" are not enforced (site next to us had sewer hose dropped on ground and emptying into open drain- no end connection (park management and staff walked next to this several times and did nothing). The neighborhood is OK (who wants to live next to the fairgrounds), but no problems whatever walking to nearby park etc.

There is no WiFi available. Nothing fancy--level sites on gravel, laundry with two washers and dryers, decent room between sites, a few sites with a tree or two between. Sites just wide enough to put out side awning to site line. Nor a place to enjoy sitting outside. Some sites have picnic tables, some don't (and some of the long-term residents have two, perhaps why others have none). 50 amp sites are in the back row, all else are 30 amps (and I was told that a reservation for a 50 amp site is meaningless because the 50 amp sites are handled on a first-come, first-served basis). Thus like me, you can arrive with a confirmed 50 amp reservation and be told there are none available.

This campground is, as the name says, part of the county fairgrounds. The website does not say, and i discovered on check-in, that my reservation dates were cut short because of a Country Music Fest. It was explained the park serves the fairgrounds, and reservations mean nothing if something pops up at the fairgrounds or the fairgrounds decides for any reason that it wants the spaces. So if you have a confirmed/reconfirmed reservation, it may or may not be honored or cut short. I doubt we'd return. We camped at Sonoma County Fair Grounds in a Motorhome.

Basic gravel field owned by the county with just water, electric, and sewer hookups. No real competition; they know they have you. Overpriced for what it is, but this area is an RV park desert. Felt safe, and site was level. Access from 101 was OK, just pay attention. We camped at Sonoma County Fair Grounds in a Motorhome.

As everyone else is saying this is a gravel lot but level. Big rigs needing 50 amp service are on back row and easy to access. No grassy areas so pets have to walk on gravel. Convenient for our wine trip as next to 101. Quiet park at night. We camped at Sonoma County Fair Grounds in a Motorhome.

This is a basic gravel lot with elec, water & sewer hook-ups (30 & 50 amps). It's tucked way back in away from the roads & fairgrounds and is an okay place to stay for a few days (14 day limit) when you are in the area. There is actually a number of things to see & do here (when the weather is nicer!) and you can't beat the price. We camped at Sonoma County Fair Grounds in a Motorhome.
