Overall Rating:

I stayed here four nights in site 8 while passing through in a 27 foot motorhome with tow car. I used this park as a base to visit Lassen Volcanic National Park which is 16 miles up the road. It was a pleasant stay. This is a small rustic campground under huge trees that provide shade and high enough in elevation to be nice and cool at night. There are small cabins to rent as well. Everything is very well maintained. The roads are not paved and the sites are gravel and of varying size and shape and are scattered about the campground. The one downside was that very few appeared to be level. My site was not and I had to park my motorhome at an angle to get level enough to be comfortable. Some sites are full hookups but since many of the sites slope to the back emptying tanks can be a problem. There is a dump station. I would say sites 6-9 are the premium sites as they are fairly spacious and back up to woods. I would not describe this campground as big rig friendly. It was very quiet and peaceful and people were sitting outside listening to the birds. There is a laundry with machines that worked and a play ground area. Dogs could be walked around the campground but there were no hiking trails. Verizon worked poorly. There is a lovely creek side area where you can picnic or take your dog for a dip. The restrooms were very clean but you had to pay for hot water for a shower. Water and electric worked well. Owners were very friendly. We camped at Living Springs RV and Lodging in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lassen Volcanic National Park was beautiful. The road through the park opened the day after I arrived. You can easily spend hours on the road through the park and there are some nice hiking trails. You have to drive past Lassen Peak to the visitor center on the other side of the park to see the stunning mountain valley views. There is a nice store in Shingletown with surprisingly inexpensive gas.
