Stayed here to visit our dealer in Moorpark for some minor warranty work. Great little park. Shared the campground with just a few other RVs, though the reservation board looks to be pretty full on weekends. Quiet, peaceful, croaking frogs, song birds, in short beautiful. Big spots with almost level concrete pads. Great power, high water pressure (use your regulator) and tables and a fire pit at every site. Hosts are friendly and actively cleaning up the park every day. Only downside, the AT&T signal is sketchy...here one minute, gone the next. On the upside, just a few minutes from shopping, dining, etc. but feels miles away. We camped at Tapo Canyon Park in a Motorhome.

Access to the park was easy off of I-118 strait up Tapo Canyon Road. Perimeter roads are paved and plenty wide. Check in was self registration. Pick a site (make sure it has not been reserved) and fill in the blanks. Services were to the left center and convenient except the sewer connection was very high. We had a metal table and a fire ring that were well placed. Our camp hosts were very nice. "Mrs. Ranger" was great. Site spacing was good. This is a very quiet location. Hard to believe that it is so close to the hustle & bustle of LA. There are no services withing walking distance. All services are available in Simi Valley about ten minutes away. There is no Wifi and very limited cell service. No Cable or OTA TV. Satellite would not be a problem in most sites. This is a great location for visiting the greater LA area. We feel we received good value for our dollar and would return. We camped at Tapo Canyon Park in a Motorhome.

We used this park as a base for visiting places in LA. For that purpose, it worked well. I wouldn't choose it as a destination. Sites were close and dusty, it was noisy on weekends, loud music, many children. My Verizon phone didn't work. Still, we'd likely go back if we wanted to visit LA again. We camped at Tapo Canyon Park in a Motorhome.

As others wrote, very nice little county park at the end of a canyon, so, in general very quiet. Recommend the outer sites for privacy because sites on opposite sides of the "circle" are very close to each other. Camp host couple are very nice and not afraid to tell people to quiet down if necessary. Was disappointed that the park grounds are very small so there are no trails, etc. There is one strenuous 4 mile hike that starts about 2 miles down. Driving to Ronald Reagan Library took about 15 minutes. Paved sites long enough for our 35' motor home but had to park towed car on dirt beside motor home. We camped at Tapo Canyon Park in a Motorhome.

This was our second stay at this park so we knew what to expect. Cannot walk the dogs in the day area part of the park so walked them on the side of the road. LOTS of stickers for them to get in their paws so that is not good. There is a very large dog park about 3 miles away that is very nice. There is NO internet or phone service if you have Verizon. Sites were concrete with dirt on the sides. But - very clean and the hosts were very friendly. Since we have relatives in the area we will stay again. We camped at Tapo Canyon Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Read a couple of reviews on this park. Decided to unhook the dinghy & drive up for a quick look for future reference before heading on to our very high priced coastal one night destination located right next to a freeway. For half the price & no traffic noise . . . We went back & got the motorhome. What a truly great find. Concrete pads are probably only 10-12' wide, so, with slide-outs deployed, you'll likely be walking in the dirt. Precautions must be taken to avoid tracking it in. Evidence of past water coursing thru the lower sites where we were, but this is a picturesque semi arid canyon. Most sites would have provided roof mounted satellite TV clearance. Great shopping & lots of food options located at the off ramp where you exit and the next. Speaking of the off ramp, the campground- not an RV park - is located straight up the road from the off ramp. Easy coming & going! While we only stayed one night this trip, we're already planning for an extended stay in the very near future. We camped at Tapo Canyon Park in a Motorhome.

Fear not! The crazy lady host that was referred to in prior posts and who ran people off is no longer here! With trepidation, we took a chance on this park despite the negative reviews about the host-from-hell because it was the only place we could find that was convenient to Simi Valley. Happily we found there was a new host who was very nice. (He's leaving at the end of the month, though, so who knows!)

We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend while we attended the Simi Valley Cajun & Blues music festival (a great festival by the way!). It was very convenient to Simi and, even on a holiday weekend, it was not full and was very quiet. The sites are well spaced and laid out so each has plenty of room and the angles of the sites and the bushes in between provide a fair amount of privacy. There's not a lot to do as far as I could see, but it's great if you need to be in the Simi area.

As others have mentioned there is almost no cellphone coverage and no internet. Also, as others have mentioned, dogs are barred from the adjacent park where there are large areas of grass and can only be walked in the dirt and bark dust around the campground. Not ideal for those of us who travel with canine companions.

There are two showers, both handicap accessible, which is nice because they include a bench, handrails, and both a shower head and handheld. Pressure was good on the handheld, but in the one I used it wouldn't shut off completely so pressure in the overhead was lessened. Didn't bother me and there was plenty of hot water. It was clean and spacious, but there was no bench or chair outside of the shower area to put your dry clothes and only two little hooks on the wall. Very inconvenient.

That and the lack of a nice dog area are my only complaints. I expect we will stay here again next time we come to the festival. We camped at Tapo Canyon Park in a Truck Camper.

This county campground is tucked away at the end of a canyon, a few miles north of Simi Valley. The sites all have full hook ups. The campground adjoins a day-use park. A camp host is resident.

The showers take quarters. A good shower costs $1.

This park is not pet friendly. Dogs are not allowed on the grass in the day-use section even if there is no one there. The ground cover is full of stickers that get in the dog's feet. We have stayed here three times. The first camp host was very taken with herself and authority, making it a very unpleasant experience. A much more reasonable host unfortunately just left, so we'll reserve judgement when we return in November.

Cell and hotspot coverage is very iffy. Verizon is better than AT&T, but neither is good.

I think this park is overpriced for what it delivers, but is the only full hookup park in the area. and the only one that is big-rig friendly. We come back twice a year to visit friends. We camped at Tapo Canyon Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Simi has about everything you'd need for stores and restaurants. Simi even has a Trader Joe's.

Szechuwan Garden Restaurant, Hai Sushi, Pho So 1 and Larsen's are all good. Don't miss Green Acres Market for lunch. The tri-tip sandwich is really good, as is anything from the barbecue grill. Their deli and meat market are outstanding.

The Union 76 station at Eddinger and Los Angeles usually has the cheapest fuel in town and is accessible.

Even though you are in the Los Angeles metroplex you do not feel like you are there. A small county park 3 miles north of Simi Valley. Nice paved roads and sites. Sites were level and hookups convenient. Good line of sight for satellite dish in a few sites. Only downside is the lack of cellular signals. We would stay here again. We camped at Tapo Canyon Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The day use portion of the park is quite large and open with convenient pavilion availability and restrooms, plush lush green grass and afternoon shade. There is a clear separation between the day use and the campground portion of the park. The husband host of the park is friendly and respectable, but the wife host is just about vicious in her approach to visitors as she lays out and tries to enforce the untold rules while using no tact or customer service. Her attitude and approach alone ruined our stay and we decided to leave without spending the night to a more friendly and accommodating place. I am sure her tone could have a place and time, but shouldn't be used all the time. Plus side of campground is that it does have electric and water hook ups, but negatives are beyond that it's plain, boring, dusty, little shade, spider friendly shrubs are the only greenery, and the ever watching eye of the wife camp host. We won't visit again unless for a day use event. We camped at Tapo Canyon Park in a Motorhome.

As most others mentioned, this is a pretty nice county park. There is no cell coverage, TV, or network connection of any kind. We were visiting family in the area so it worked for us. The biggest problem is the inability to walk your pet in the day use area. The only grass around. We camped at Tapo Canyon Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Liked this park for its quiet atmosphere. Very few campers even in June over a weekend. No Wi-Fi and basically no cell phone reception: actually a nice change! We had two dogs with us and were told to not walk them in the day use area: not even on the road. Not so great but there is a dog park fairly close by. Since we were visiting relatives we would stay here again. We camped at Tapo Canyon Park in a Fifth Wheel.

As a resident of Simi Valley, we decided to try the local RV park. Thinking it would be nice to get away and yet be so close to home, we started off thinking this place wasn't bad. In the beginning though, we felt the camp host was trying to throw her weight around. The way she conveyed that quiet time was 9pm and LIGHTS OUT WAS 10PM. We've been camping for several years and quiet time always meant, generators off. Well, during our whole stay, we hadn't used our generators once. (We were camping with 2 other families who happen to be off duty law enforcement.) Ironically, she came over and caused a commotion that we were too loud while we were just watching satellite. She decided to call the police. Calling the police on the police. How funny is that. I find that this was completely ridiculous and over exaggerated. To make matters worse, the park ranger made his appearance in the morning threatening to ban all of us from future camping privileges for the county. It's no wonder this park is suffering financially and has low occupancy. They should remove the park host. We camped at Tapo Canyon Park in a Motorhome.

This campground is run like a state park and is very pricey for what you get. You have to pay $2 for each vehicle (Monday-Thursday) and $4 on weekends in addition to the $37 per night site fee. There is no cable TV; Verizon cell phone reception had one bar, and Verizon wireless internet connection was slow. The pluses are that it’s close to Reagan’s Presidential Library and Museum and each site has a concrete pad and fire ring. We also visited Santa Monica National Recreation Area during our three day stay. We camped at Tapo Canyon Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We would have given this park a 10 except no internet reception at all was a big negative. We have a WiFi card and this is the only place we have gotten zero reception. If you don't need internet you will love it. We camped at Tapo Canyon Park in a Travel Trailer.
