We stayed here a few years ago and there were a lot of full timers but seems to be mostly full timers now. The office lady was very nice. Some spaces are VERY close and some are ok. We had space 47 and it was difficult to back in with our 35ft motorhome. Internet was spotty and so was our Verizon signal. But for the price we would stay again. Our rate was PA. We camped at Salmon Harbor RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This park is right on the ocean and the views could be tremendous but the overnicht spots are right on the highway 2 blocks from the ocean with tight streets of old permanent campers blocking the view and making it very difficult to reach the office to check in only to be told to navigate back to the highway to park. The site was fine for over night but you may as well be in a pasture some place We camped at Salmon Harbor RV Resort in a Motorhome.

There may be no better park for parking ON the coast. The Smith River does come in-between but the Pacific is right there, seals, sea lion, birds, and maybe an otter. The on the water sites are limited in number and what size rig will fit. The staff was friendly. End of the good. Although the utilities worked they might scare you. I was under the impression California had tough codes. They seem to have forgotten this park. That is the bad. The ugly was the restroom and showers. As the lower sites had no sewer so instead of cleaning out the storage area in our trailer that is really a shower I used the facilities. They do, I think, clean the toilets and sink but that is it. I have seen worse but those I did not use. There are rumors about restoration of the entire resort, Ship Ashore. It will be nice if it happens. To cap it all we went to the dump station after a week and found they had rented it as a campsite and had to wait until one of the pull thrus became available. We camped at Salmon Harbor RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a fine base camp for coastal stuff and the redwoods. There are services in Brookings, OR which is closer than Crescent city. In CC there is a cheese shop that if you like cheese, don't miss it. It is a slightly challenging drive but Stout Grove may be the one stop shopping for seeing the redwoods.

This park has the very best view of any we've stayed in the last 2 months! A view of where the river and the ocean meet, and lots of seals to watch while walking on the beach. Pull throughs were up near the highway and not too noisy, easy out in the morning. 30 amp power, good water pressure, cable tv, good wifi for $2 a day. The park was nicely mowed and landscaped when we were there. It was just an overnight stay with Passport America, but if you're a senior, they will let you stay an additional night (or nights, don't know how many) for $26. We camped at Salmon Harbor RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This park is only 3 miles from the Oregon border, and diesel fuel was about 30 cents a gallon cheaper than CA. Walk or drive down to the lower level to walk on the beach. All rocks, but easy to walk on and absolutely beautiful.

We did a one night road stop stay. Two 5th wheels in our group. We called ahead and were able to get two together near the office. The sites are gravel and long enough for 26' fifth wheel and pickup. Staff was very nice. There are also water and power only sites down near the ocean if your rig is not too big. Downside the sewer hookups were a few feet behind the trailer. It was too much trouble to hook up sewer for one night so we did not worry about it. We camped at Salmon Harbor RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate reflects PA discount. A great place to stop for the night. Staff was friendly and helpful. We have a large rig and they gave us a pull through site all to ourselves somewhat close to the highway but did not hear any noise to disturb us. Park seems to be mostly full time residents but overall was reasonably clean and picked up. Major downside was the narrow entrance road in and having to disconnect toad to be able to to turn around to get to our site. Close proximity to small casino with a decent restaurant. We camped at Salmon Harbor RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Rate is with a Passport America discount. Clearly, the “resort” name is an overreach. The campground is probably 50% permanent residents and there are many mobile homes with various older RVs mixed in. The sites are narrow and packed in – our neighbor is so close that there’s not even room for us to put our awning out. The draw here is that the Smith River pours into the Pacific right at the campground. Apparently, this is a great place for fishing – if “Resort” in the name doesn’t apply, “Salmon” does! We enjoyed the water very much, watching harbor seals, sea lions, and birds in abundance; all viewed just a few steps from our campsite. The campground offers Wi-Fi for a price. We opted to use our Verizon service which has an acceptable 3G connection. Cable TV is provided and there’s a laundry and some worn bathrooms. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I’d say that the campground is a bit below average, but the location is very good. We camped at Salmon Harbor RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Sewer at back of the sites. No amenities to speak of but laundry and showers. Fish cleaning station and right next to the ocean. Some sites ( smaller units) can park on lower level for the ocean view. Really clean and quiet. We enjoyed this park. We camped at Salmon Harbor RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate reflects PA. Friendly, helpful staff at this waterfront park. Very basic but clean. Fish cleaning station. Wi-Fi works okay at sites near office, not so well further away. Cable TV was good. Many long term residents. Sewer hookup at very rear of the site. We camped at Salmon Harbor RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here in a 40 footer with quad slides. We used our Passport membership. We were in a pull through which was wide on grass. We had 50 amp, satellite and full hookups. Garbage is picked up twice a week: Monday and Thursday. Otherwise, garbage can be taken down to trash can. Great area to see the sights from. Personnel are friendly and helpful. Only complaint is the barking dogs. We would stay here again. We camped at Salmon Harbor RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is the place to go if you're on a budget and want to stay right on the ocean. The staff is friendly and helpful. A fair number of somewhat dismal older units here as the park is about 50% full-timers. No space is more than a short walk from the harbor. The Indian Casino is 1/2 mile up the road and Brookings (OR) is 10 minutes north. We used Passport America and will be back next year. We camped at Salmon Harbor RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The rate we paid was the "Passport America" one-half price rate of $18 per night plus $1 per day for electric. We had a nice long pull-through lot. The lot was on the grass but it was level. There was no road noise. The only problem we had was an overhead light that kept going off and on during the night. Our biggest complaint was the barking dogs that were allowed to be tied up outside. This campground is mostly people who live here all year; however, they do not have junk piled up as in many campgrounds. If you enjoy fishing, there is beach access with a fish cleaning area. The campground hosts were very nice and helpful. This is a nice place to escape the summer heat. If we were to stay here again, I would ask the manager why they allow dogs to be tied up and left outside to bark at each other and people who are walking their dogs. Since we were only here for two days and out most of the time, we did not mention it. We camped at Salmon Harbor RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This was our second visit here, stayed here six years ago and still as nice and the same friendly owners & staff. This time we stayed a month here. Very quiet, beautiful ocean views and could listen to the surf/waves during the night. Many excellent restaurants nearby in Crescent City & Brookings, Oregon, Also the Ship-A-Shore restaurant within walking distance. I would assume it would be a very hard place to get a site during the summer months. We stayed in a 5th wheel and will probably be back there in the next couple of months but will definitely stay there again ! We camped at Salmon Harbor RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
