Second stay at this Encore Park. Price reflects Thousand Trails discount and $4.00 "Resort Fee". Nice place. Great amenities. Tight maneuvering for big rigs but beautiful campsites. Most are fairly level back in dirt 30/50 amp full hook up sites. Good location next to the "Y". Nice pool and courts. Personnel very friendly and efficient. Will stay again. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a very large park. The spaces are average size. Some are very hard to back into because of the large pine trees. On the whole it is a nice clean well run park. We have stayed there before and would stay their again. Site 250 in the "F" loop would be one I would stay away from unless you are in a very small tent trailer. One of our favourite stops on this trip,it reminds us of a state park with all the tall pine trees. Our original site was 176 but with all the trees there was no way we could open our slides. Went back to the office and they gladly switched us to a pull thru site. If you love the sun as much as we do then site 102 is the one for you. Hookups are conveniently placed towards the back of the site. Restrooms and showers are neat and clean with plenty of hot water. Interior roads are asphalt and the sites are sand. Each site has a picnic table and a charcoal grill. Good fast wifi signal was just upgraded this week although it was out for a bit as some of the bugs were ironed out. The campground store has limited supplies but within a five minute walk there is plenty of shopping. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here as Thousand Trails members with the Trails Collection. Again, Thousand Trails and Encore love the word "resort." This is a nice campground but not really a resort and it's huge. Only two of the four loops were open and very little of the amenities were in operation (May at Lake Tahoe is called winter in most places). The lodge had a decent store but the lounge areas were severely lacking for such a large campground. The laundry was good to go but again, kind of small for the size of the park. The sites are hit and miss but that's due to the hundreds of pines on property. We barely wedged our 32 foot motorhome in ours but friends next door had plenty of room for their 40 foot rig and a large sitting area. The sites are level-ish with good power and water. The best part about Tahoe Valley is it's in South Lake Tahoe. There's diners and pizza joints within walking distance, a Raley's half a mile away, a Big 5 and more just down the street, not to mention Lake Tahoe! We'd stay here again if we're in the area. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Since this is an Encore Park, they assign spaces. But we asked and got moved closer to our friends. The worst they can do is say no...

This large park is called a resort, but it isn't what I would call a resort. Sure, there's a pool, a basketball court and kids playground, but that doesn't make a campground a resort. A very rustic, woodsy setting makes this very nice, though. We have a picnic table and a rusty, lopsided grill, but no fire pit. Some sites have fire pits, and others don't. All dirt, with lots of pine needles. We are in a back-in site, up against a wooden fence. We have just enough space for our 37' motorhome without our front end sticking out into the road. Pleasant enough atmosphere and lots of room around our site, although the neighboring sites are fairly close. Sitting outside is a pleasure, even at night. Our Verizon cell service has worked well here and using our Jetpack we have had no issues being online. The wifi isn't great, even with a cell tower close by and it didn't work at first but then it did. It has not been consistent, though, which is typical in most parks. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

South Lake Tahoe has lots to see and do if you enjoy nightlife, eating and shopping. The Nevada casinos are a short 20 minute drive away if that's your thing. There are also many hiking opportunities out by Emerald Bay and beyond, as well as beautiful scenic vistas and the awesome Vikingsholm Castle.

We were in a pull through site. Park is good sized with over 400 spots. Many look to be water and elecrric only. The park is off the main road and pretty quiet. The park is heavily treed and most sites will not get satellite. Verizon cell phone is ok at 3 bars. Thousand Trails has an Encore park upgrade to most memberships for $199 that will cut the cost of the park by half. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Note: we are Thousand Trails members so our stay was FREE. We stayed here in October and there were plenty of empty spaces. We were able to get a 50amp, full hookup site with DirecTV satellite access thru the tall trees. We loved our visit to Lake Tahoe but found the area to be very expensive and, even in the 'shoulder season' between summer boating and winter skiiing, we found it very, very crowded. Please note we saw warning signs at the local Visitor Center indicating the squirrels and chipmunks do have plague infested fleas. If you have a dog (or cat) be aware (there were no warning signs at the RV park). We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed here for 2 weeks to visit our son; cannot recommend this campground. PROS: FHU, have to request a 50 amp site. I made my reservation months in advance online, would not guarantee a site #, even after I called a week ahead to confirm. Arrived to a 30 amp site that was too tight, had to go back & complain to get moved to a 50 amp site. If you like tall pine trees and an occasional bear, this is a good place for you. CONS: No discount for extended stay = $54/night Weak WiFi, could not log on most days. West AT&T signal, no Verizon. Tall trees = difficult DISH signal. Terrible entrance, either of 3 possible choices, not well marked from Hwy. 50. Rough roads, partly paved, so many pine needles it was hard to tell road from not road. Poor signage for the interior roads to find your site, roads wind in and around all the trees, sites not well marked. Dusty dirty sites, not paved at all. Airport just behind campground, lots of helicopter and plane noise. Airport is used for military high-altitude training at times with heavy helicopter traffic. Lots of staff, don't know what they do all day, did not seem to care about guests or their needs. Not many RV choices in South Lake; but I would rather not stay here again. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this park 4 times this year and years previously. This the price went from $64 per night to $88 with no additional amenities. Sites that we're standard are now premium. The staff are not helpful at all. We were blocked in by a motor home that was too large for the site next to ours. We had to wait for them to leave before we could. I brought this to the managers attention and he said he couldn't make them move. After questioning the manager about the placement of RVs in sites he admitted he had never owned an RV. The changes happened when encore/Thousand Trails took over the RV park. I will not return to this park again. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is the worst place we have ever stayed in 5 years of camping. Place was dirty, tight and no regard for their own rules. We had a large group of campers directly behind our coach (2 ft). They moved their fire ring close to coach and partied to after midnight every night we were there. Quite hours supposedly started at 10pm but were not enforced even after we complained. Had nothing but young people working who were not interested in getting out to see what was really going on. No management present was noticed. Place was packed for Labor Day weekend and tenters were intermingled with campers, fifth wheels & motorhomes. Thousand Trails should be ashamed of this place. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

$54/nite reflects their weekly rate. We stayed 10 nights starting late April. On arrival, staff were very nice and helpful. Our site had panoramic views of the pine trees from our rear bedroom. Several loops were still closed and only a small number of RVs were here at this time of year. Although there are no privacy shrubs, etc., we still felt the separation from our neighbors was good. The asphalt cg roads had a few potholes but we had no problem maneuvering our 32ft travel trailer. There were plenty of staff raking and leveling sites throughout our stay. Snow was still on the ground in places, and we experienced a wonderful snowfall one afternoon and evening. Our site was still a bit muddy at one end from but dried out in a few days. I had no problem leveling our trailer with a few leveling blocks. This early in the season, the cg only had 30amp sites available - 50amp loops were still closed. Verizon signal was weak/slow but usable. The cg is a short drive to Lake Tahoe, stores, restaurants and etc. We will definitely camp here again in the future, and probably during this same season. We liked the emptiness, quiet and cool weather this time of year. If you want to use the pool, tennis court, volleyball court, etc. or need 50A service, you'll want to come later in the year. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The beachfront Beacon Bar and Grill has good food and a sports bar. The upscale Riva Grill on the Lake has excellent food and good lake views. Drive 20 minutes Inspiration Point for a beautiful overlook of Emerald Bay. Glen Alpine Falls is nearby - a wonderful sight late winter through May, and a short walk from the road. Raleys Market and CVS drugstore are 2 minutes away by car, and Raleys has inexpensive diesel fuel to boot.

Tried to get into another park and just couldn't.... for months, so had to stay here.

This park is huge: lots of sites. The loop we were in was loud at night. People playing music in one site and people up late drinking right next to us (loud). We called in at night after hours, but nothing happened. We found out later the people staying next to us in a van and two tents, were employees. They have a 10pm quiet time listed in their literature, but their employees didn't follow it.

This is an older park and we noticed the big rigs having issues. They eventually got in, but it was not easy.

The did have a nice pool. Sites are dirt, roads are paved. The laundry was very big and worked well for us. There are no fire rings and no ground fires. The front office said we could rent a ring for 8.00 / night. We didn't do that.

For what you get it is over priced, but there are not many other options. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We had a premium site that was level and long enough for or rig. Paved interior roads but dirt sites. Only had 30 amp service and it was hot but only able to run 1 AC. Pool was clean a b d temp was good. Super friendly staff and very accommodating. Was nice but 50 amp and paved sites would earn it a 10. Caught the restrooms just before cleaning. We made our reservation via their website, selecting a 50 amp FHU "prime" spot. Upon arrival, we were assigned a non-"prime" 30 amp site. After several minutes of near argument with the check-in staff person about "not needing a 50 amp site" he reluctantly changed our site to what we needed and had already paid for. Even though this part of the facility is open year around the water to our site was turned off and it took some effort to get staff to come turn it on. The sites in this section are close together and all dirt.

This facility is showing it's age. There are large potholes in the access roads and a number of bumps caused by frost-heaves and tree roots. The roadways wind through the trees but if you take it slow and are cautious most rigs can probably navigate them. The non-prime sites in the area we camped are generally 40' long and back up to another 40' site. They will be cramped if there are two long rigs back to back. The "prime" sites are back-in sites generally on the outside perimeter.

We have stayed here before but this will be the last time for us. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Motorhome.
