We rely on the reviews on this site to pick campgrounds and we found this campground to be grossly overrated. The campground host was not available for check-in or when the power went out to the entire park. The site needed mowing and some disrepair to the hookups. At check-in our assigned site was not available since it was occupied by someone else, the host excuse was they were "hardheaded". My take is he's not there and people park/camp where they want. A high price for camping with partial hookups. We would never stay here again. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Stay away.

This was our second stay in this delightful park, which is far enough, but not too far off the beaten path. We enjoyed views of glider plane take-offs and landings from our campsite.
The downside is no sewer hook ups, although the park provides a free dump station.
Mountain View/Tehachapi is a perfect way station while crossing the desert. Staff is 5-star! We will definitely stay here again! We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Don't miss breakfast at The Raven (glider port restaurant). Treat yourself to a glider ride. We did!

This a basic RV Park. The downside there is no sewer dump at sites. Our stay was very quiet. We have stayed here before and would stay again overnight. Our site was gravel and had a very much downslope.

NOTE. The map takes you over to the airport. Turn right instead of left. You really can see for yourself. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Agree with the other postings. This is a very basic campground, but it is far enough off the freeway to be really quiet and close enough to be convenient. I appreciated that the attendant assigned spaces spread apart enough for the few of us staying there, instead of packing us into one end as sometimes happens. We all had privacy that way. Beautiful views and neat to watch the gliders being towed past the campsites. Excellent Verizon, which is important to me. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a very pleasant valley. Even in the drought, the grasslands were green. There are the basics of a big grocery store and hardware chain store, so you have everything you need there. I did not have enough time, but there is a train museum and the Tehachapi Loop, where the trains pass themselves as they climb the mountain. Don't miss the excellent bakery on the main street!

It's such a beautiful quite place. It's very basic, got laundry, bathrooms, and shower. It park of the airstrip grounds but don't let that turn you off because it's not a regular airport where you hear airplanes all day long. On the contrary, if you're lucky you'll be able to see a nice show of a vintage airplane taking off.

You got mountains all around you, very peaceful.

No WiFi but Verizon worked well.

The sites are all pull-throughs of gravel/dirt that are separate by different type of trees, feels private.

We loved it. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The town of Tahachapi is so charming, go and enjoy their historic train depot, stores and restaurants.

Delightful small park. Very clean and well ordered. Kind of hard to find - be sure and set your gps for lat/lon coordinates. Sites were level and drive-through. Most had shade and all had picnic tables, water, and electric. No TV here and the wifi didnt work the night we were there but the location was so quiet and peaceful that we didnt miss the wifi one bit. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Wouldnt hesitate to recommend this place to all my F&F. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

What a hidden gem! This park is a bit out of town, adjacent to the glider-port, but as a previous reviewer suggested, just use lat/long in your GPS and you will have no problem.
Owner/check-in was super-friendly; sites partially shaded by young trees, but did not interfere with sat TV. Restrooms/showers GREAT, and WiFi worked flawlessly. We would definitely visit this park again. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Whether or not you are a railfan, Tehachapi Loop is not to be missed-- it is an engineering marvel. Also recommend the (free) Tehachapi Rail Depot tour. There is also a quirky "Honey Wagon Brewing" for those who fancy craft beers, but good luck finding it.

Small park next to glider plane airfield. It is quiet with nice shade trees but open enough for good Verizon and satellite TV. Because it is out of town, the stars at night are spectacular. We just loved the quiet and rustic atmosphere of this park. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Tehachapi is home to the famous Tehachapi Loop. Watching the trains go thru the round-abouts is pretty spectacular.

We found this to be the sweetest of parks, rustic but with full hook-up. Being outside of town, the stars were just brilliant! Each site has a picnic table and some shrub/tree screening from the space next door. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a great place to stay for taking a visit to see the trains climbing the Tehachapi Loop.

Sites are close together but trees provide some privacy. This is a lovely place situated alongside an airport that caters to gliders. If you are lucky you can watch the glider activity or even take a ride. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful and extremely quiet. We love this place and will come back. Does not have sewer, but there is a dump station, so it's well worth it. Right next door (within walking distance) is the Skylark North Glider Flight School. Take a ride (it's fabulous) or just watch. Either way, it's a great experience and quiet...something we don't get enough of! We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Railroad buffs will like the Tehachapi "loop"

Stayed for one night on our way to Death Valley from the SF Bay Area. Easy access on and off Highway 58, exit 151, about 1.5 miles and three turns away from freeway. So no road noise. On the way out, I missed Steuber Rd. and ended up taking a 3 mile detour to get back to the on-ramp.

Overall very clean grounds, except a few doggie mines. Staff was very nice. Never heard or saw any planes on the runway, so it was very quiet. It was cold and windy, no surprise given location. But, lots of fairly well groomed trees to block some of the wind, even if some were still bare of leaves. I would stay here again. Our RV and toad are about 45 feet and there was only a few feet in front and back, so anything larger than 50 might not fit, check first. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

The town and campground are in a nice mountain valley at over 4000 feet. The campground is on the southern side of town and away from Highway 58 but right by the local airport. In fact, you can walk out to the runway from the campground. There are several gliders parked by the runway and it must be fun watching them fly. This is a nice campground with level, pull through sites, 50 amp electric, and water. There are no sewer hookups, but there is a dump station. There is also a small laundry and clean restrooms with showers. If you are traveling California 58 this is a good spot for a few days. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice quiet park with a beautiful view of the mountains. The elevation is 4500 feet which makes it cool and a light breeze also helps. Not fancy but is neat and tidy. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We only planned to use this park as a stop over but were pleasantly surprised with both the park and the local area. The park is beside an airport which I thought would be a problem but wasn't. There is one sewage dump that you don't pay for if you stay. Sites were nice, the orchard and rolling hills made it a beautiful spot. No fancy registration system so you won't get confirmation numbers. In fact they didn't ask for a credit card to hold the spot. We'll go back for sure and stay longer. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.
