This was a one night traveling stop and the first time we've visited the Mountain Valley RV Park. We specifically stopped here as the higher elevation offered cooler temps from the surrounding desert heat. This is an Excellent RV Park although it is not full hooks ups. There is a convenient dump station which we used on the way out since we were traveling home and didn't want our tanks to have any liquid. My wife used the showers and restroom. She gave it her Seal of Approval for cleanliness. The RV Park sits far enough away from CA Hwy 58 that you don't hear any road noise. In the quiet of the night you can barely hear the BNSF and Union Pacific trains. Not a problem for us though. We will stop here again in our future travels. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The highway off ramp taken to access the RV Park has a Love's Truck Stop and within a quarter of a mile of Love's a new Flying J truck stop is just under construction. There's also a Chevron Station if you don't like to fight the truck stop congestion.

A little treasure up in the cool mountains after the pounding heat of Las Vegas. It's quiet, peaceful and would have liked to stay longer. On the edge of a glider school, surrounded by windmills and farm land. Lots of birds, rabbits and ground squirrels to watch. Loved it. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Definitely check out the airport and take a glider ride if so inclined. Be sure to go up and watch trains navigate The Loop. The farmer's market was great on a Thursday evening.

What an unexpected gem! This is a small campground next to a private airport. We had water and electric hook-ups. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful. The campground had clean bathrooms and showers and a convenient laundry room. While we were here the weather was a bit rough, but on many days we were told you could watch small airplanes and gliders operate from the campground. There were lots of ravens and hawks in the area as well as other birds and small animals to view. It is a somewhat rural area away from the hectic pace. It was a treat to stop here.

The sites are almost all pull-through on gravel with a very slight slope forward. It has 50 amp service as well as water and a dump station. For $27 a night, this was definitely a great bargain. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Tent Trailer.

We have stayed here on four separate occasions, each when transiting between Northern and Southern California. The location is lovely, at the base of the mountains, and on the edge of a glider airport. If walking your dog on the runway, be sure to watch out for aircraft, rabbit holes, and dog poop. The sites are level, nicely landscaped, and well-sized. Typically, it is a quiet location, a few miles from town, but still close enough. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Gliderport has a nice little restaurant. Willow Springs-Tehachapi Road is a nice winding drive through the windmills, yet do-able in a motorhome.

Fairly isolated RV park near Tehachapi, minutes from town, with nice open views of the mountains to the North. We enjoy staying here because it has near access to the town, also near the Tehachapi Loop, world famous railroad landmark. Park is adjacent to a glider airport and there are usually gliders being launched after 8 am, but fun to watch. Sewer wasn't at the site but there was a dump station on the way out. No problem getting a satellite signal with Direct TV. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Purely an overnight stop for us. It filled that need well. A very pleasant Englishman is the operator. If he is out on the campus, there's an easy self check-in system. He posts the reserved sites to avoid. Our site was fairly level with water and electricity only. That's all we needed. The water pressure was very poor. So we opted to use our onboard water and refilled/topped-off one time. Access to CA Hwy 58 was easy. IMHO it is not a "destination" campground unless you had other purposes in the area. A clean, friendly campground with no free wifi or cable TV. Fortunately our satellite worked nicely. If I was passing through again, I would indeed stay here again. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

I really enjoyed my stay here; four nights mid week. I didn't see anybody else staying more than 1-2 nights. In daytime the park was almost deserted.

Other reviews pretty much have it. Small park, water & electric only. Convenient to Tehachapi. Water pressure didn't seem as low as others described; electric was great at 119 volts with both AC's cranked.

Only downside was that my site was deceptively unlevel, front was about 6" low no matter how I parked, so I had to use some boards to get within the range of my jacks. I'm not sure all the sites are like that, but be prepared. It's pretty flat terrain (it's at an airstrip, after all), that's why it's deceptive.

Nice small laundry room, machines were in good shape and only $1 per load. Bring your own quarters. My best campground laundry experience to date.

Wi-Fi is available through a third party, and it's pretty costly, $10 a day, I think, so I didn't use it. If you drive over to the airfield, you can connect for free.

While I was there, they had to close the dump station because of bees. I assume it was just temporary. Love's Travel Stop is available up the street. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

When I was there, Love's on Tehachapi Blvd was the cheapest gas in town by about 30 cents. A town of prairie dogs on the airfield provided some mild amusement.

What a beautiful setting for this RV Park. Nestled in the hills of Tehachapi with gorgeous views of the valley. We loved the peace and quiet. The sounds of the glider planes taking off right past us were enjoyable, not offensive.

But - there was no one there to welcome us and even though I had called and was assured our site assignment would be on the door, there was no mention of us and what site we were to occupy. We had to wait 15 minutes for the manager to come. She assigned us to a space for 3 days and then the next morning there was a note on our door telling us she made a mistake and we would need to move to a different site. All of you know that once settled, it is not a fun thing to stow things again, disconnect and hitch back up to move 100 feet away, but we did.

Now the basics. This is a water and electric only park with a dump site. The water pressure is very low. There are some nice trees for shade but there is only dirt out our door. The office has some nice grass but there is none elsewhere. The first site we had was high at one end but the second one was very level. The sites are plenty wide but a bit on the short side. We are a 30 foot 5th wheel and our truck just fit after unhitching. We did not visit the restrooms. There are no permanent residents which is a plus.

Not a perfect place by a long shot but we did check out the other places in the area before hitching up and moving to another site and this is by far the best. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was just a stopover for one night, but it was a very nice park. It is nestled between mountains, and offers nice views and peaceful surroundings. No one was there to greet us, but our name and site # was on the door. The park was almost empty, but as the evening wore on, many came in for overnights. The sites are gravel, and easy to level. No sewer, but water and electric were fine. They do offer a dump station, which we did not use. Someone previously reported difficulty with a 40 ft motorhome and 4 door jeep, we have just that and had no problem with the turns or the pull-through. We disconnected to run to a store, but it would have been fine if we didn't. Someone from the office came in early and we "checked in" as we were leaving. Otherwise, trees a mail slot for payment. Airport next door was very quiet. Nice little park for a 1 or 2 night stay. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed one night, quite and clean. This park is a little tight for a 40ft motorhome so be careful, couple of tight turns and trees need to be trimmed back, but you can do it. Quite and peaceful, site just fit a 40ft motorhome towing a 4 door jeep. Good dump station, did not hook up to power or water, have solar panels and Sat. dish. Site drops to front of RV and a little drop to the driver side pull thur site. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed 3 days with a friend who was wanting to try out his new 5th wheel. This is a small (27 spaces, all pull-through) basic park with water and electric only. Dump station is available. Each site has a table, no fire rings (real windy) and a tree or two separating each site. The bathrooms are cleaned everyday. Check-in was easy. It is located right next to the glider airport and was fun to watch take offs and landings. The airport has a small cafe, The Raven's Nest open for breakfast and lunch. Good food. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Tehachapi is on Hwy 58 between Bakersfield and Barstow. A great place for a stop over or exended stay. Good choices for food. Fall is great for apples. Looking at all the wind machines is a site to behold.

We rely on the reviews on this site to pick campgrounds and we found this campground to be grossly overrated. The campground host was not available for check-in or when the power went out to the entire park. The site needed mowing and some disrepair to the hookups. At check-in our assigned site was not available since it was occupied by someone else, the host excuse was they were "hardheaded". My take is he's not there and people park/camp where they want. A high price for camping with partial hookups. We would never stay here again. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This park offers little in amenities but it makes up for that in quietness. Sitting south of town and away from highway and railroad noise this park is a dream. No sewer connection but the dump is well placed with good access. We were at the south west area so our satellite was not blocked by the many shade trees. The roads are paved but the sites are dirt and somewhat rough with some large rocks. But who cares. It is beautiful here. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
