It is a great little RV park. They need a website or someone to consistently answer the phone. If you are willing to make several phone calls to finally get through and reserve a spot it is worth it!! The sites are fairly spacious, some of them have shade and all are pull-thru sites. Only electric and water with on-site dump station. Restrooms are clean and on-site laundry looks clean enough, didn't use it. WiFi is available for a daily rate, Verizon coverage is great and we had a couple bars of AT&T too. Being next to the glider airport is a really neat location, would stay here again. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

The Tehachapi loop is really neat! Worth the drive to check it out! Also the two little museums in town are worth a stop too! Look for coyotes in the evenings.

This was the first park we used in our new motorhome. The roads were wide and the space was an easy to maneuver entrance and exit. The trees could be trimmed for better slide out usage. It was very quiet. The Glider Plane Airport was interesting and created a nice backdrop. The coffee shop closes at 4:00pm, so we purchased a salad and sandwhich and it was a nice little dinner later on! We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very nice park located at the base of the mountains overlooking the Tehachapi Valley and sharing space with a glider school. The only noise was tow planes occasionally taking off with gliders in-tow and far-off sounds of trains passing by. Very quiet and tranquil. The sites are gravel and a little dusty, but not bad. There's a couple of dog areas, one grass and one dirt if you can convince your dog to wait until you get there. No cable but Over-the-air antenna picked up Bakersfield CA signals. Verizon was good. Each site had water and 30/50 amp electricity. Sewer is taken care of at a dump station located centrally. The staff is very helpful but aren't there full-time; we had to wait a couple of hours until they arrived (no issues). Tehachapi temperatures are much cooler than those in Bakersfield or the desert (depending on which way you come in) making it comfortable to sit outside and enjoy your evening cocktail. I think it's a very good park and I recommend it. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Tehachapi is a great place to visit. Go the the railroad museum in the old train station down-town. Visit the Tehachapi Loop, and engineering marvel at the time it was built where the front of the train crosses the back of the train to mitigate the steep grade. Cummings valley has a couple of winery's that actually produce decent wine, in fact, one winery actually began winning awards the first year of production and have continued ever since.

This was an overnight stay. Enjoyed the wide open spaces, with nothing but open field behind our space. Very quiet, but a distance away from Hwy 58. No light pollution, just bright nighttime stars. Site was kind'a level, just added a little Andersen level. Water is from their own well and was good. Power was decent. Interior roads were newly installed asphalt and site was dirt. I could have stayed much longer but headed home. We would like to return. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice RV park with paved roads and wide level gravel pull thru sites with grass and short trees. W & E only at site, dump station. OK for big rigs. Most sites can get satellite signal. Good cell signal. Wi-Fi $ thru outside service. No cable, no pool, no rec room, no store or activities. Two miles off freeway and train tracks, three miles into town and next to local glider plane airport. Park clean and staff friendly and helpful. Will stay there again. Be aware that check in time is NOT before 2:15 We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

They have odd office hours and no online reservations, but the people in the office are always very nice. Must call between 7-9 am or wait until after 2 pm. Windy but fun park next to sailplane runway. Coyotes howl at night. Lots of rabbits. The bathroom/showers and laundry look very clean. The pull thru sites have water and electric but no sewer. There is a dump station. The sites are spacious with quite a few trees. There is a basic cafe at the airport within walking distance. In town we love Domingos Mexican Restaurant. This was a one night traveling stop and the first time we've visited the Mountain Valley RV Park. We specifically stopped here as the higher elevation offered cooler temps from the surrounding desert heat. This is an Excellent RV Park although it is not full hooks ups. There is a convenient dump station which we used on the way out since we were traveling home and didn't want our tanks to have any liquid. My wife used the showers and restroom. She gave it her Seal of Approval for cleanliness. The RV Park sits far enough away from CA Hwy 58 that you don't hear any road noise. In the quiet of the night you can barely hear the BNSF and Union Pacific trains. Not a problem for us though. We will stop here again in our future travels. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The highway off ramp taken to access the RV Park has a Love's Truck Stop and within a quarter of a mile of Love's a new Flying J truck stop is just under construction. There's also a Chevron Station if you don't like to fight the truck stop congestion.

A little treasure up in the cool mountains after the pounding heat of Las Vegas. It's quiet, peaceful and would have liked to stay longer. On the edge of a glider school, surrounded by windmills and farm land. Lots of birds, rabbits and ground squirrels to watch. Loved it. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

What an unexpected gem! This is a small campground next to a private airport. We had water and electric hook-ups. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful. The campground had clean bathrooms and showers and a convenient laundry room. While we were here the weather was a bit rough, but on many days we were told you could watch small airplanes and gliders operate from the campground. There were lots of ravens and hawks in the area as well as other birds and small animals to view. It is a somewhat rural area away from the hectic pace. It was a treat to stop here.

The sites are almost all pull-through on gravel with a very slight slope forward. It has 50 amp service as well as water and a dump station. For $27 a night, this was definitely a great bargain. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Tent Trailer.

We have stayed here on four separate occasions, each when transiting between Northern and Southern California. The location is lovely, at the base of the mountains, and on the edge of a glider airport. If walking your dog on the runway, be sure to watch out for aircraft, rabbit holes, and dog poop. The sites are level, nicely landscaped, and well-sized. Typically, it is a quiet location, a few miles from town, but still close enough. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Gliderport has a nice little restaurant. Willow Springs-Tehachapi Road is a nice winding drive through the windmills, yet do-able in a motorhome.

I really enjoyed my stay here; four nights mid week. I didn't see anybody else staying more than 1-2 nights. In daytime the park was almost deserted.

Other reviews pretty much have it. Small park, water & electric only. Convenient to Tehachapi. Water pressure didn't seem as low as others described; electric was great at 119 volts with both AC's cranked.

Only downside was that my site was deceptively unlevel, front was about 6" low no matter how I parked, so I had to use some boards to get within the range of my jacks. I'm not sure all the sites are like that, but be prepared. It's pretty flat terrain (it's at an airstrip, after all), that's why it's deceptive.

Nice small laundry room, machines were in good shape and only $1 per load. Bring your own quarters. My best campground laundry experience to date.

Wi-Fi is available through a third party, and it's pretty costly, $10 a day, I think, so I didn't use it. If you drive over to the airfield, you can connect for free.

While I was there, they had to close the dump station because of bees. I assume it was just temporary. Love's Travel Stop is available up the street. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

When I was there, Love's on Tehachapi Blvd was the cheapest gas in town by about 30 cents. A town of prairie dogs on the airfield provided some mild amusement.

Purely an overnight stop for us. It filled that need well. A very pleasant Englishman is the operator. If he is out on the campus, there's an easy self check-in system. He posts the reserved sites to avoid. Our site was fairly level with water and electricity only. That's all we needed. The water pressure was very poor. So we opted to use our onboard water and refilled/topped-off one time. Access to CA Hwy 58 was easy. IMHO it is not a "destination" campground unless you had other purposes in the area. A clean, friendly campground with no free wifi or cable TV. Fortunately our satellite worked nicely. If I was passing through again, I would indeed stay here again. Fairly isolated RV park near Tehachapi, minutes from town, with nice open views of the mountains to the North. We enjoy staying here because it has near access to the town, also near the Tehachapi Loop, world famous railroad landmark. Park is adjacent to a glider airport and there are usually gliders being launched after 8 am, but fun to watch. Sewer wasn't at the site but there was a dump station on the way out. No problem getting a satellite signal with Direct TV. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.
