This is a nice campground, ideally located for us to visit the Lake Tahoe and Napa area by car during our six-night visit. We were in the "no animals" part of the park, arguably the nicer part. The back-in gravel pads (no pull-throughs) are narrow, and the hedges that separate each site make the sites even narrower. We had full hook-ups with 50 amp service. The campground is just inside the main gate, easily accessed by making the first right turn followed by another immediate right turn.

We arrived on Saturday to find the office closed on weekends. However, the manager happened to be driving past the campground and saw us arrive. He stopped by to welcome us and give us a lay of the land. Our name and site assignment were prominently displayed on a list in the office window. The office is only open for limited hours on weekday mornings and afternoons.

The campground claims to have basic cable TV available for free; however, we could not get any stations. We were told that long-term visitors can pay for a cable box through the local cable provider. We were able to get excellent digital TV coverage over the air for free.

One must pay for Wi-Fi. We did, and it was a waste of money. We could access the Internet less than half the time, and would often lose the signal and have to attempt to login over and over. Definitely not worth the cost.

All in all, the location and reasonable nightly cost make this a worthwhile stop. Strongly suggest having reservations. We camped at Travis AFB FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Motorhome.

Very nice FamCamp with a nice laundry room, clean restrooms and showers, and thoughtful layout. There is a pet area and a non-pet area, so if you don't want to camp near anyone with a pet, you have that option as pets are not allowed in part of the FamCamp. We never saw anyone in the camp office. They are only open for a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the afternoon. They close for lunch in the middle of the day, which is when we arrived, so we self-registered, which was an easy process. No WiFi, no cable. Our AT&T hotspot worked fine and antenna picked up all major networks. We camped at Travis AFB FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is like 2 different parks in one. One area, which is really nice, is for campers without pets. The 2nd area, for campers with pets, is not so nice. WiFi was so weak we couldn't connect. Very close to BX complex and commissary and the Base hospital. We would stay again but now know which spaces to ask for since we have a small dog. We enjoyed our stay here (site #72). Sites are adequate in size, mostly level (I used a few leveling blocks), gravel back-ins, with concrete patios and picnic tables. Our site, and many others, enjoyed some nice shade trees. Not all sites are as nice as others. Some sites are pet restricted so ask when booking. TV cable system is convoluted as you need to acquire a digital converter box from Comcast somewhere. We didn't bother and reception via antenna was good. Restrooms were OK but could have been maintained in a cleaner state. Other positives: located just inside main gate (some traffic noise); directly across the street from the BX (one of the best I've seen), commissary (also one of the best I've seen), and Starbucks for coffee addicts. If this were a $40/night RV Park I would have been slightly disappointed but as a $20/night FAMCAMP this was more than satisfactory and we would stay here again if passing through the area. We camped at Travis AFB FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Fifth Wheel.

This park would be rated much higher but for all the crazy rules. There are "pet sites" and "non-pet sites," and the "pet sites" are fairly limited. Plus, if the "non-pet sites" are full then Rvers without pets may use the "pet sites" but if the "pet sites" are full then RVers with pets are not allowed to check in. Also, the pet areas are extremely limited. I wouldn't call this place very pet friendly at all. The maximum stay is 180 days so there are lots of homesteaders, which gives the park a different feel than a normal RV park. They have dozens of obscure rules and placards with the rules posted everywhere. I felt like if my dog walked on the grass somebody would run up and issue me a ticket or something. Geez. When you sign in, if paying by check they require your full social security number, which is stupid and dangerous. The "free cable TV" requires that you obtain a cable descrambler box from some company, and it is available only on Monday through Friday during business hours, so if you check in after hours or the weekend you don't get cable. Overall, it was a very annoying place that was adequate for our two day stay, but it could and should have been much better. The FamCamp is right next to the main gate. The BX & Commissary are close enough for a good walk to. They also have Diesel on base. All the sites are gravel back-ins with grass and well spaced so you're not on top of each other. Plan on the office being closed when you arrive as their open hours are very odd. We camped at Travis AFB FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice park but does not have much extra, just a place to park your RV while visiting this part of California. You have to pay five dollars/day for wireless internet and cable TV is only 21 channels. I would not use it for a home base due to cost and lack of things to do at campground. This place is for military, retired personnel. We camped at Travis AFB FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Travel Trailer.
