It's not a destination resort so don't expect a pool, showers and a laundry. The sites are well spaced and mostly level . The park is kind of hard to find, even though it is just outside the fairgrounds front gate. The trains go by on a regular basis during the day, but the noise seems to end about 9 pm or so, thus it never bothered us when we were sleeping. We camped at Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We kayaked the Modesto reservoir and went into town for a couple museums and an old mansion. There is lots to do in Modesto, home to the inspiration for American Graffiti.

What a previous reviewer said... right alongside train tracks. At least 6 rolled by tooting their horns almost constantly in the 18 hours we'be been here so far. Great cell reception though--there's a tower right here too. Grass and dirt field, muddy when wet. Location can be tricky to find. Go by the address. Not well signed. Keep your eyes open. Better yet, camp elsewhere. Office closed and no host present when we rolled in so we just took a site which is the way it works at this first-come-first-served location. Hookups are dual serving adjacent sites. Our electrical pedestal was old and in a state of disrepair. All hookups at the back of sites so long or extended sewer hoses are needed and the drains are in the ground which may be uphill from where your hose first touches down. 30 amp and 20 amp service. No 50 amp. All sites are back-in. Cash only. Wouldn't stay here again unless desperate. We camped at Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Note to self...ask how close the train tracks are! The tracks are literally feet from this "park". If you don't mind the train screaming by and actually creating a wind while going by then you'll be fine. I like to sleep at night. All the hook ups are straight back and if you don't have extra long hook up equipment you won't reach. In addition there are no signs (as usual) to locate the office to pay. The people working here were very nice. Even the dog couldn't sleep. Never ever again! We camped at Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Unless you are used to a train driving through the middle of your rig, don't come here.

Large, open grassy area with level sites. (I didn't even use the jacks). Sites are full hook up, back in. No amenities. Surrounded by oleanders, which makes it private. However, the campground backs up to the Union Pacific main line. Heavy use of whistles. But the train noise seemed to quit about 9:00 pm. We were not awakened through the night. Either we were very tired (we were) or trains didn't run through the night. But we will definitely stay again for an en route campground. We camped at Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is about as basic as you can get and still call it an RV park. It's a grass lot with utility pedestals along the periphery. The host was a nice guy and let me park perpendicular to several sites so I wouldn't have to unhook. There was just one other rig there. The grounds appeared reasonably level. There are no bathrooms, showers, Wi-Fi, or any other amenities. The train track along one side was a bit noisy but not enough to keep me awake after a long day of driving. They love to water the grass, sprinklers were going the whole time we there, about 12 hours. We camped at Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Very basic, big grass field with hookups. Good power, good water pressure, no internet but our Verizon air card worked well. With TV antenna up, only got about 5 channels and they were sketchy. Only park in the surrounding area so I would stay again if in the area, you get what you pay for. We camped at Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Very convenient if you have to stay in the area. But the loudest trains I've experienced. Rates have increased to $25 contrary to what the website says. A very nice host. An ant problem at the train track side of the park. No restrooms or showers. We camped at Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Fairly large back-in sites in a grassy field near fairgrounds and industrial area; 30-amp/water/sewer hookups; no Wi-Fi, no washrooms/showers, etc. Decently clean, and reasonable priced for the area. Open field, so most sites should have good satellite reception. The railroad runs right next to the park, with freight trains every hour or two. Oddly, they weren't loud enough to wake me at night. I suggest that you phone ahead (Mon-Fri, 8-5 only) to check availability, as the RV area seems to be also used for overflow parking for fairground events (e.g. swap meets). We camped at Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Only one other motor home in the park at this time. Easy in and out but could be tough if the park was full. Grass parking. Train track next to park. Train ran 4 times during our one night stay, 8:pm, 11:pm, 10:am, 2:pm. Other than the train the park is very quiet. We camped at Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.
