We love Army Corps of Engineer campgrounds. They are always near water, always scenic, and always quiet. We can live comfortably for a week with no hookups so we are very content in this type of setting. Acorn COE is very picturesque and just about any site will have a nice view. The area is abundant with wildlife. We had deer come through our campsite and saw turkeys numerous times. The nightly rate is $16 but with the Golden Age National Park Passport it is 50% off, so cost us $8 a night. We camped here with another couple and we had adjoining sites. We enjoyed many a campfire in our 5 day stay here. We camped at Acom Camp East COE in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

This is a Corp of Army Engineers park. It is a dry camp. They have a two dump stations on the grounds. This is a very large park surrounding a very picturesque lake. Wildlife abounds. We had turkeys, rabbits, deer, geese and a large variety of birds come by out site. This park is a hidden gem if you like being in the outdoors in the midst of lots of wildlife. Many sites sit on a hill overlooking the lake. The campground host and hostess are very nice people. We enjoyed visiting with them. This is off the beaten path and quiet. It does fill up completely on weekends. It is very popular with locals. We camped at Acom Camp East COE in a Motorhome.Undo
