This worked for a few nights in order to visit Universal and Hollywood area. I had read a few other reviews that said the spaces were small, but that was an understatement. We have a small sprinter motorhome (24') and was able to back carefully into an end space. But anyone with a trailer has to unhook, and then they maneuver the trailer into place with a forklift. And cars are parked in front of spaces and along the main alley, so once you are in your space, you're in. Every time someone needs to get in or out, 3 or 4 cars have to be moved. Overall the campground is clean and well kept. The laundry was clean and all the machines worked. Our site was clean and level. The neighborhood was a different story... it's right next to an airport so helicopters fly overhead all day. Panhandlers hang out at the 7-11 down the street. We stayed here because there are no other options for RVs in the area... and that's a shame, because at $65 for this place I would have been happy to pay big bucks for a modern comfortable RV park with normal sized sites. We camped at Hollywood RV Park(formerly Balboa RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The name of the park has been changed to Hollywood RV Park effective January 1st, 2018. We stayed for two weeks. The weekly rate was $375 plus 14% tax (yes - 14% tax - California is crazy!). Our average all-in cost was $61.07/night. The reservation process was easy; check-in friendly and efficient. We were escorted to our site in the "back lot" which is basically an asphalt area with several 50amp/water hookups (no sewer). We knew in advance we would be there but it was the holiday season and we were glad to get in. Honey wagon service is available for free as needed and the maintenance guy was super nice and always helpful. Because the regular sites are fairly small/tight (most are not big rig size), we were quite happy to be in the back lot with some extra space. Satisfactory Verizon cell, Verizon Mifi and DirecTV signals. We did not try CG wifi so can't comment on that. The office was able to receive shipments which we appreciated. Although the CG backs to Van Nuys airport, it wasn't too noisy during the day and it was quiet at night. The location suited us because it allowed us to spend time with family. It's close to the 405 and 101 and there are lots of conveniences nearby including an In-N-Out Burger 1/2 mile away. The CG is well-managed and clean. Big laundry room with numerous machines and a large folding area. $1.00 wash and 75 cents dry (although you might need to run the dryer twice depending on what you're drying). Security at night is very attentive to vehicles entering the park. We met the owner who is actively involved in day-to-day operations. They have many long term tenants and the park is nearly full at all times. Reserve ahead if you can. If we need to be in the area, we would be happy to stay again. We camped at Hollywood RV Park(formerly Balboa RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

One small block North on Balboa (same side of street) is a combo cross-fit gym and pilates studio. Highly recommend. You can walk there in 5 minutes. We had a plumbing issue. The CG office recommended a mobile repair guy named Steve who was awesome - excellent communication, arrived on-time, fixed the problem and was reasonably priced.

Balboa RV Park is a medium-sized RV park with tight spacing. However, the office people helped you back-in and they are the best I've ever seen at directing. Once in place, the site felt larger than it was, as there was a lot of landscaping. The surface was asphalt with AstroTurf-like grass surrounding it. We had a picnic table and the full hookups worked fine. We had a dedicated parking spot for our tow car, right across from our site. Also right across from us was the large, clean laundry room and fairly nice restrooms/showers. The entire park was quite clean and (for a tightly spaced park) uncluttered, and not as noisy as I had expected; it was actually fairly quiet, everything considered. Everyone we met was very nice. WiFi was quite good, and I could get a strong Verizon signal. If we need to be in this area again, we would definitely stay there. Tips for other Campers:

Being only 45 minutes to LAX, the closest RV park to it that we could find, Balboa turned out to be a very good choice. I exploited "America's Tires" nearby to have my tow car tires re-balanced; exceptionally professional.

At first glance you're thinking what did I get into. But the owner was very helpful, they took you to your site and helped you back in, they had someone hook you up so I didn't have to do anything. The sites were tight but I have a 40 ft motorhone with 4 slides. I had a picnic table and a nice concrete patio. We had fake grass on both sides and rose bushes. (Nice) the dog park was all the way at the end of the park fenced and large but dirt, and the dog waste in a garbage cans hadn't been picked up probably two weeks, the smell was bad. But that was my only complaint. The place was quiet, no road noise but we did have an airport right next-door so we did hear the planes but not as much as I thought. The location is ideal for sightseeing of Universal Studios or any of the studios and Beverly Hills. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We stayed here several times when in LA...not many places in LA. This is tight to get into the slots, but the owner always helps and then we are fine. We have a place to park our toad and the picnic table and area next to the RV is nice for outside dinner. Yes they have air traffic but you are in LA so learn to ignore. Kids play and some folks have pets but that is how most humans live now...we love it. Nice trees and the WiFi seems pretty good. We stay 2 to 4 days while we visit our kids. There is a nice park down the road for visiting and picnics. Easy access to the 101 and good stores right around the corner for shopping. We stayed only for two nights, to visit Universal Studios, but we liked the place very much. It's a nice, clean and safe place in the middle of the city. Special compliments go out to the management and staff who were very kind and helpful. Sites are not that large, but that can be expected in a city. Ours was clean and neat. We certainly recommend this RV park. We camped at Hollywood RV Park(formerly Balboa RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Well we were promised a 50 amp slot on our reservation for 3 days but they had none when we arrived so the guy in charge got us into a very tight back in site under a nice shade tree which wasn't too bad since the weather had cooled. Electric and water were from non-standard outlets with no breakers and multiple splitters. Bathrooms were clean but very old & dated plumbing. No amenities to speak of....just the only game in town and priced that way. Big rigs have no options here even though there are some wedged in to places. We would come again but only cause nothing else exists in the area we needed to be. If YOU have other choices...make 'em. We camped at Hollywood RV Park(formerly Balboa RV Park) in a Motorhome.

We spent three nights here primarily to tour Hollywood and go to the Hollywood Bowl. It was a great location. The Hollywood Bowl parking can be a nightmare and we rode the Metro (at Balboa) to and from the Bowl. For $5/person for an all day pass, it was quite the bargain. As other people have noted, the owner is the nicest and hardest working person I have met in a long time. He really takes pride in the park. We have a 24' motorhome and had no problem getting into our spot although our power management system did not like that the electricity was not grounded and we had to plug into an adjoining electrical circuit for power. The Wi-Fi was as zippy as our broadband at home. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Hollywood RV Park(formerly Balboa RV Park) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here a week and then returned for a couple of nights on the return trip home. We loved this place and will go back. It has been owned since 1974 by the same family and the owner couldn't have been nicer. Anything you need help with he will take care of. This is not a resort but it is centrally located to all the LA attractions. The park has many permanent residents, many of whom work in the movie industry. It was safe and very quiet, except for the helicopters from the nearby airport. There are murals painted all around the park and it feels homey with lawns and flowers around the spaces. We have three good sized dogs and there is a small dog yard but we enjoyed taking our dogs to nearby Balboa park for long morning walks. Spaces are narrow and the owner will move your RV into the space and take care of the hookups. We camped at Hollywood RV Park(formerly Balboa RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Don't come here if your rig is over 24' long. All streets are narrow and sites are short. They have cars parked everywhere. Not a 1-2 night stop over because it took several attempts to get into our spot with our 30' RV. Old park with lots of permanent trailers. Electrical is just an outlet 3" from ground with no breaker. Water faucet is inches away. Cords & cables laying on the ground. After 1 day we had ants. We will not stay here again. We camped at Hollywood RV Park(formerly Balboa RV Park) in a Motorhome.

So sorry to give this such a low rating as the host couldn't be nicer, but we camped here in a 35' motorhome and it just wasn't comfortable. He graciously helped us back into our space and helped us with our hookups but we were sardine tight. Seriously, I could hear the guy next door cough and answer his phone, not to mention his barking dog. Feral cats slept on the toad and left their paw prints on the windshield. Children ride their bikes all over and play in the streets...nice for them but not for us. The helicopters are relentless in their landing. We were hoping to invite our family over to see our new rv but it was not conducive to having visitors. Loved being close to everything but not at the expense of such close quarters. Sorry, but we will park further away next time and have some breathing space. We camped at Hollywood RV Park(formerly Balboa RV Park) in a Motorhome.

With many mediocre RV parks, you see the phrase "OK for an overnight stop, but not good for long term". I would say the opposite about Balboa RV park. We were greeted every day by very friendly and helpful management, and the bathrooms and laundry were clean and functional. The problem is that this park was designed in the 1940s and really cannot accomodate the larger rigs of today. The sites are situated in rows where you need to back into each site making a couple of 90 degree turns in the process. Add to this cars parked along the roads from the numerous permanent residents, and you really require the assistance of the helpful management to get parked. Add to this the cable TV hanging from trees, very high water pressure. The Wi-Fi was spotty, it worked OK on one side of the park, but not on the other. If the price was less, it would get a slightly higher rating. We camped at Hollywood RV Park(formerly Balboa RV Park) in a Motorhome.

In the 8 yrs we have RV'd we have never left a cg without staying at least 1 night until today. The place was bad. We had reservations for a week and drive a 40ft motorhome. They were putting us in a site all the way back between a mobile and a perm 5th wheel. We could not have even parked in it because the 5th wheel owner had his car in there and was out of the park. This is a very run down park with lots of permanents and very small row sites. Lot of vehicles parked on the street due to the narrow sized sites. Unless you are crazy do not even think of staying here especially if you are over 32-35 feet inn length. We would never stay here or recommend it to friends. Perfect for a pop up trailer We camped at Hollywood RV Park(formerly Balboa RV Park) in a Motorhome.
